Why did they change it? And which do you prefer?
>>
i didn't know this happened and now it's bothering the fuck out of me
>>
>>58281017
New version is better. Matches the cards now
>>
Fire should be orange
>>
Fire should be orange as the color of flames and Fighting should be red as the color of blood.
>>
I think they made Fire red so it could better represent the red/green/blue color triangle the starter Types are going for. But the majority of Fire Types clearly lean more towards being orange and I can't think of a single justification for Fighting being represented by orange

In a slightly different reality these easily could have been official Type colors

why is purple associated with poison at Game Freak?
>>
>>58281424
it's an america vs oriental thing

That would have required grass, ice, and bug to have different colors so they don't look too similar
>>
>>58281017
Red = hot

Fighting dojos tend to be shades of orange-ish brown, suits it more.
>>
>>58281017
Which colors are used in the TCG? I prefer that.
>>
>>58281117
>>58281036
This issue is why change it now? They had no problem for 30 years, this shouldn’t have happened it Gen 2-3. Now it’s just disorienting
>>
>>58281017
Old was better. Fire is mostly orange, so Fire type being orange makes more sense. Fighting being red makes more sense because of red boxing gloves and the color of muscle tissue.
>>
>>58282431
These colors are the worst in the series...no orange at all
>>
>>58281017
I like fire being deep red, but the fighting one should be brown not orange
>>
>>58281017
I liked when fighting type on the cards were a darker brown
>>
Probably because every other RPG has fire as red, making it easier to recognize
>>
>>58281017
Oldgen.
>>
>>58281117
Vs what for fighting being red? Boxing gloves?
>>
Fighting was more of a dark brown than red
>>
They dabbled with fire being red orange earlier on so it's not that drastic a change
>>
While I'm there they actually swapped rock and ground too
>>
Rock went from dark to grayish brown
>>
Flying went from periwinkle to cornflower while the rest are mostly the same
>>
>>58281232
>>58281424
poison being green is pure nonsense
>>
>>58285068
is it tho
>>
>>58285009
>>58285017
I'm surprised that I've never noticed the shift. I've always just associated Rock with a darker brown than Ground.
>>
>>58285144
yeah?
>poison is green... because people said so!
and
>green signifies safety, life, and nature in vidya
>poison representing the complete opposite is also green
it was always idiotic to make poison in green
>>
>>58285176
i know right, ONE color representing 2 completely different things? next they'll be trying to tell you that fire is blue
>>
>>58285176
to be fair all of these color associations beyond the most obvious are nonsense. Poison can be any number of colors, including clear, and it really is just a cultural difference. Not him btw.
>>
>>58285196
red fire is the most common in nature and I don't think blue fires were a common sight until modern times with gas
colors other than poison do have physical colors associated with them, not just culturally associated ones
>>58285197
realistically I think yellow would be most fitting color but stylistically purple would be the best since purple is the "unnatural" color and it being the opposite of green would make it give off a hazardous vibe similar to red

jesus christ, every single one of them was a downgrade
>>
>>58281017
Red for Fire just looks better
>>
>>58281017
In general, I think red fighting works better because it's the color of blood and generic boxing gloves and stuff and is brighter and more aggressive. While orange works better for fire because most fire is orange, not red.
That said, in the context of the actual games, with fire being one of the 3 starter types, having it be red makes it fit better alongside green grass and blue water, since those are the RGB colors.

The first one, but specifically when Fighting's red was more of this brownish pink.
>>
>>58283500
something needs to be orange
>>
>>58283512
The Pokemon cards were never darker brown - if anything, the background is darker now than the original texture. Are you thinking of the energy card itself? The Base-Neo Fighting Energy was much darker than the corresponding Pokemon card background.
>>

electric should be pink/violet

fire is orange, and when very hot it's blue
>>
>>58281017
>>58281232
>>58281424
Fire turned red so it can be a primary RGB alongside Grass and Water.

Poison is purple because Purple = Death in Japan
>>
>>58285059
I like how Gen4's pokedex icon is blue and white, because Flying really is just bird-flavored normal moves. Ghosts should be immune to it desu
>>
>>58287616
It's also wind energy, which Ghost doesn't need to be immune to
>>
>>58287132
Fire usually goes from dark red to white depending on how hot it is, but it's predominantly orange.
It can change to almost any color, like blue, depending on what's being burned, though.
>>
>>58281117
>fire red
say that again
