I know that one is in developement but which Digimon romhack is the best?
>>
What are the best finished romhacks that have a completely new Pokédex?
>>
>>58281872
Vega, Clover.

seconding Vega, there are some duds but it's impressive how many I genuinely like, particularly for a game made in 2011.
>>
>>58281872
Do you count everything being a regional variant?
>>
>>58282036
The sprite work really sells the designs, some almost look official. That there is an artist who's mastered both the design and pixel art style perfectly
>>
>>58282719
it's almost suspicious, when vegas prequels, which feature a lot of the same fakemon, dropped in 2005 basically nobody was operating at this level regarding fakemon.
Either japs are just built different or some people with serious experience put it together
>>
Is Vega the infamously difficult one?

Your point still stand but Altair/Sirius released in 2008. From what i've heard it was a community project on 2chan, just like Clover here.
>>
>>58283261
yes, but you can play the minus versions which put the level scaling more in line with the official games and reduce the ridiculous coverage.
>>
What are the best recently finished hacks + what are the most interesting hacks currently in development? It's hard to sieve through all the shit at pokecommunity.
>>
>>58281867
I want to know this too. I have Digimon Crystal, Digimon FireRed, Digimon Emerald, and Digimon Nova Red. Are any of these good/completed?
>>
Does anyone else feel like a lot of rom hacks today are made specifically to appeal to streamers like smallant and pointcrow? I've noticed more hacks seem to be easy to summarize for a YouTube title with the format "Pokemon ______ but X" (pokemon FireRed but they keep evolving, pokemon emerald but there are too many types, etc). As if the hacks are designed to allow for easy click bait. There are a lot of really good high effort hacks that I feel like don't get enough recognition because streamers just want to play through hoenn for the billionth time.
>>
>>58283438
I just think there are a lot of shitty hacks in general, or hacks that do the same thing as another hack but slightly different.
>>
>>58283465
Yeah there are quite a bit of shitty hacks, but I even can get enjoyment out of some of them. I hated the second Ruby Destiny game Rescue Rangers, but I can atleast tell significantly more effort went into that game than anything I see on yt now
>>
If you’re going to have a rom hack that doesn’t change the main storyline but has a billion new Pokémon in every single route then at least make the Poké Balls cheaper.
>>
When is VP going to make a good hack?

You’re like the thousandth person to come to this conclusion
>>
>>58283865
Hey brother, is it just me or is anyone else tired of romhacks that try to add every pokemon to the game? Anyone else feel this way? I haven't seen anyone else bring this up, anybody else come to the same conclusion? Does anyone agree that having >4 unique encounters on any given route = bloated unplayable encounters tables? Just me? We need more people talking about this guys.
>>
>>58283886
Anyone think new regions are better than Kanto or Hoenn again? Am I the only one that thinks difficulty hacks are too common? I never hear anyone talking about this.

I'm just glad I'm not alone on this, thanks for answering my question all of you.
>>
>>58281867
I genuinely don't think we have any good digimon romhacks for pokemon. Even the pokemon tcg digimon romhacks.
They're all incredibly imbalanced with the enjoyment of the game being secondary to it being cool.
>>
>>58283438
yes. it's also that the decomp made basic hacks like that super easy to make, while ambitious hacks still take a lot of effort. so there's a flood of low effort hacks designed to capitalize on trends because any retard can pump them out now
>>
>>58285978
That was always the case.
>>
Anyone have a patched (hot fixed) version of fools gold?
>>
>>58285978
That makes way too much sense. Thanks for the explanation.

Here's the before and after Kantonian-Johto starters spritework.
>>
>>58285983
maybe but the decomp makes it even easier because you have a base to work from that already has tons of qol and features included in it
>>
>>58286465
Typhlosisters...
>>
>>58283438
That's at least partially because those streamers commission custom hacks to be made specifically for their streams/videos. From your examples "there are too many types" was commissioned by alpharad and pokemon evolved was developed by a guy that has made commissioned hacks for smallant, and the hack was given to pointcrow before its public release but I don't know it was commissioned.

>>58286483
Rombases are not exclusive to the decomps and have existed long before them. I think the main difference the decomp makes for smaller hacks is that it allows people to make changes to the game mechanics which allows for gameplay gimmick hacks.
>>
>>58286458
What's the autumn patch again
>>
>>58286465
>Mfw
I picked typhosion because I thought the psychic designs was cool and now it's a fucking walrus
>>
>>58286878
lmao
>>
>>58286755
Yeah, I know too many types was commissioned, but I still think it's representative of the style of hack we get so frequently. It's just kind of annoying that these much more basic hacks get praised by streamers, meanwhile games with significantly more effort like Uranium or Insurgence get made fun of by pointcrow.
>>
>>58287354
At least they get made fun of. There's a lot of hacks out there that are completely ignored.
>>
In my romhack, I'm going to make every legendary reject attempts to catch them mid-battle. Instead, when you KO them, you get their recognition afterwards and they join you.

Nobody is thrilled to be throwing fifty ultraballs at a mon. It's timewasting bullshit and it needs to go.
>>
>>58288211
I hope they're more like totem or raid battles, then. It's not hard at all to wear down any single Pokemon, legendary or not.
>>
>>58288211
not a bad idea but I agree with above that they should be buffed somewhat if you're going to do this. also make sure it's communicated somewhere so people don't waste their time trying to catch them or think it's bugged or something
>>
>>58288211
As suggested above, you should make it so that all legendaries and mythicals should battle you with all of their stats multiplied by 6 or 8, as if they're attacking you at full power and requires you to use your full team and strategies to take it down. Also remove masterball from your game to drive home the point.
>>
>>58286848
It swaps all the Johto encounters with Sevii (Hoenn).
It also makes trees and grass orange for thst nice fall aesthetic.

>>58286878
Rip, sorry anon. At least it stands out more from the regular Fools Gold Typhlosion now.

I made a rebalanced type chart for hacks without the fairy type.
I'm going to try to make a simple gen 4 hack.
>>
>>58290098
Ehhh, most people aren't fans of changing the type chart. Having to memorize new combos is a pain.
>>
>>58287357
I get that they technically get attention that way, but it still feels a little backwards to praise very basic hacks while mocking fan projects with much more effort put into them.
>>
>>58290145
