I remembered this theme for years and I only got the 2nd badge in white version because I was so busy with college at the time. Didn't go back and beat it until a few years ago and I teared up at the ending like a faggot when N was talking before flying away because I was drunk.

Easily Hitomi Sato's best work, the only real competition is the Gen 7 titles but it is quite close so I get it if you disagree. If you don't like her work I get it, it's occasionally borderline experimental. Outside of that it's just a solid showing all around by every composer. Even Shota Kageyama isn't completely fucking dreadful in this one, which is genuinely shocking he's usually so fucking bad especially with his arrangements of classic tunes.

There's some real standout tracks (Route 10, Opelucid City in White version) but quite a few bland, forgettable ones too (Icirrus City, Tubeline Bridge)

The regular trainer/wild battle themes are pretty meh compared to the other games', also

HGSS soundtrack is godawful and the only time it isn't complete garbage is when he stops trying to "improve" good music with his shitty additions and just stuck with the original composition structure
We deserve a modern update of GSC's soundtrack by God Ichinose himself
