why do unovans think gummy worms are a meal
>>
>>58295134
Looks decent, just replace the candy (why are there two desserts?) with something like a juice box.
>>
>>58295324
They aren't. Did you somehow miss the ramen + udon + fried chicken, animal style fries, and donut topped with flan topped with a blueberry and whipped cream also on the plate?
>>
>>58295134
Donut desert thing, loaded fries, ramen and belly jeans?
>>
No where near enough corn syrup and seed oils for it to be considered a proper Unovan meal.
>>
>>58295134
I just wished it was a bit healthier, is this much sugar necessary for a meal? Why couldn't I get an apple, orange or a few berries instead? I'm a fat bastard, but of the Kantonian backwater variety, so I pack a ton of muscle too and I enjoy some greens and fruit to pair up nicely with dishes, I don't get why city folk like Unovans can't just learn to enjoy some greens, Blaziken stroganoff with shiitake shrooms, broccoli with moomoo cheese, a bit of lettuce and tomato salad are delicious, healthy and easy to make, plus they're stuff that's healthy to share with your Pokemon too, I think even my Lickitung and Muk would enter cardiac arrest by eating this much candyslop.

I just can't understand why gamefreak bothers with nonsense bullshit like this. I didn't go into a single malasada shop in sun, and I didn't talk to a single guy at the cafe in every pokemon center.
>>
>>58295471
You're supposed to talk to every single character. Have you never played a roleplaying game before?
>>
>>58295489
Yeah, I didn't WANT to talk to every single character because I didn't think it would be FUN. I also ignored the rotomdex, never used a single z-move, and used potions/ethers/heals to heal up instead of using the pokecenter. Because that's how I wanted to play the role playing game.
>>
>>58295471

The blueberry ones are ok. The most expensive gives you shiny 1 for everything
>>

>>58295557
They do it because people like it. You clearly don't, so it's obvious they're not making it for you.
There's nothing for you here. Why did you even enter this thread?
>>
>>58295569
Blueberry food is pretty good.
The most expensive food you can get from Blueberry gives a weak buff that ups the shiny chance for all Types.
>>
>>58295569
Ordinarily to get the meal effect "Sparkling Power", which increases the odds of shiny Pokemon of a given type appearing, you need to use Herba Mystica ingredients in your sandwiches. These can only be obtained in high-level Tera Raid Battles. The Academy Special meal, which costs 150BP, gives the meal effect "Sparkling Power: All Types" at level 1, meaning you just find more shinies in general from eating it.

Here let me include the part you conveniently excluded.
The reason you haven't heard anything about it is because you live in a bubble.
If what you say is true we wouldn't have had this thread at all.
So again, why are you here? Why did you enter a thread that has zero appeal to you whatsoever?
>>
>>58296047
Yes anyone who thinks your a retard for acting like a special snowflake that doesn't play the game the way everyone else does is the same person. Man your a retard, but your first post made that abundantly clear.
>>
>>58296053
>Here let me include the part you conveniently excluded.
>The reason you haven't heard anything about it is because you live in a bubble.
I live in a bubble in the sense that I haven't seen anyone talk positively about food, and then said as much. If you notice, my first post was >>58295471, saying: "I can't understand why they bother with this!" and every reply bar one is someone malding that I dare criticize it, not talking about how interesting it is or how much they like the lore, just saying "NOOO YOU CAN'T CRITICIZE THAT YOU'RE BORING". One guy mentioned that the buffs they give are useful... which could have been included in any other way too, so isn't praising its inclusion.
>If what you say is true we wouldn't have had this thread at all.
This thread isn't evidence anyone likes it, it started out by making fun of the food depictions in the game. Now, OP COULD have liked it, that'd be fine and dandy, but I saw the thread and said: "I can't understand why they bother with this!" and that's an entirely normal thing to do in a thread making fun of food items in the game. See how this tracks logically and is consistent?
>So again, why are you here? Why did you enter a thread that has zero appeal to you whatsoever?
It had appeal to me! I saw someone making fun of food, and I said: "I can't understand why they bother with this!" because that's entirely within the themes of the thread!
>>
>>58296054
*you're
>>
>>58296069
You're an idiot, doubly so if you thought this was gonna be a place to reinforce your extremely narrow way of playing the games and not people making fun of the OP for being a faggot. I like interacting with food features in the games, lots of people have before too, hence why memes such as players not including the top loaves on their sandwiches made their way into the DLC.

You live. In a bubble.
>>
>>58295382
>belly jeans
Why did that make me laugh
>>
>>58296085
>You live. In a bubble.
how are you so dense? Let me repeat this: YOU DO NOT PASS THE SALLY-ANNE TEST.
I NEVER CLAIMED PEOPLE DIDN'T LIKE THE FEATURE. I CLAIMED I HAD NEVER HEARD OF ANYONE ELSE SAYING ANYTHING POSITIVE ABOUT IT. You see, if you had two braincells to rub together, you could understand the nuance that is that I was discussing my PERSPECTIVE, and how I was TELLING YOU WHY I THOUGHT WHAT I DID. You are so stupid that you can't understand that other people have different experiences than you.
>>
>>58296099
>You are so stupid that you can't understand that other people have different experiences than you.
Nice 'no u', but all you're doing is doing is having a meltdown because other people like food features and you don't. Step out of your bubble once in a while and you could see that for yourself.
>>
>>58295471
>>58295499
>plays the game wrong
>"why do they do this??"
We are reaching autism levels that shouldn't even be possible.
>>58296069
It's interesting enough to make a thread about it, and people are discussing it. You are the only one who is like "hurr I dun geddit"
>>
>>58296112
>all you're doing is doing is having a meltdown because other people like food features and you don't.
Let me show you the conversation we've been having to make sure you understand why you're such an idiot:
>I don't understand why gf bothers with these features.
>You're not playing the game right. Use those features.
>I don't want to use those features.
>Then stop complaining about those features.
>I said "I don't understand why they bother with them", and you're replying saying "WELL USE THEM OR DON'T USE THEM STOP COMPLAINING"
>Yeah well people like it or something it's not for you
>I've never heard of people liking it.
>Oh? You've never heard of it? That means you think it doesn't exist! You live in a bubble! You live in a bubble!
>That's not what I said, you're delusional
>Wrong, cus um you're just living in a bubble and other people like it.
>Oh, so you can't understand that my perspective (not knowing about the cookies in the basket - I mean the people who like the food nonsense) is different than yours.
and you just reply with:
>YOU LIVE IN A BUBBLE YOU LIVE IN A BUBBLE WHY ARE YOU HERE
there we're pretty much caught up as I'm, at this point, simply trying to explain to you why you're incapable of understanding others' perspectives.
>>
>>58296117
>>plays the game wrong
imagine claiming someone plays the game wrong, and imagine getting mad someone comes into a thread about a topic and says: "I don't understand why they bother with this!"
Like come on, that's literally as on-topic as you can get.
>>
>>58296152
>I don't understand why they bother with this!
That's because you're playing the game wrong by intentionally avoiding features everyone else interacts with. You're an idiot that lives in a bubble if you can't tell that this thread quickly turned into a discussion about food in Pokemon, and specifically this meal in question. You're not in good company, and the fact you can't see that is utterly baffling.

>Thinking people don't care about food in Pokemon
>Forgetting about how upset people were at the shitty sandwich eating animations in SV when the curry animations in SwSh actually looked really good

I wanna eat that Klawf claw. I want those grilled rice balls with lemon. I want plenty of potatoes curry. Fluff shit like this contributes to the immersion of the setting and they should work on including it more.

Bring back restaurants where I can choose one of my Pokemon to dine with
>>
>>58296183
People also tend to forget that side content like this is also why Dexit is in effect, so they can actually devote effort to things that add to Pokemon's worldbuilding and variety.
That's another reason for why people actually care about these things, because they've been conditioned to give a shit in order to cope with the status quo.

>>Thinking people don't care about food in Pokemon
This one too, I literally NEVER claimed that people didn't care about it, I said I had never heard it... I couldn't understand why anyone would care. I'm happy you do! I don't know why everyone here started raising a stink as soon as I criticized it at all. I would have been happy to discuss it outside of me not understanding the appeal, but it turned into a complete mess because of >>58296159's insistence that I'm somehow living in a bubble for not seeing the appeal and not having been exposed to people who saw the appeal...
>>
>>58296183
>>58296194
You know what to add on I DID actually go into that sushi house and ramen(?) shop in sun now that I recall; I didn't care about it at the time other than seeing it was an easy way to get heart scales but perhaps if it was presented like they did in the later games it would have been more appealing.
>>
>>58296207

Yeah! Because you live in a bubble! This content exists and continues to exist because people like it! Liking food in videogames is not an uncommon opinion whatsoever!

I really liked the battle restaurants in XY. There were no pictures of the food but you got vivid descriptions that for you fun lore tidbits.

>Washed-rind cheese made using a female Arbok's Toxic poison
>Braciole of fresh, Azure Bay Slowpoke Tail accompanied by Payapa Berry crudités glazed in an extra-virgin Oran oil
>Sumptuous consommé with a vintage 3,000-year-old Rare Bone, boiled for 100 days in pristine snow melted from Kalos's fine Frost Cavern
>Berry sorbet made from fresh Spelon berries and Rawst berries, with tangy herbs in a whipped-mousse dressing
>>
>>58296227
If you're willingly skipping content in the games that nobody else does and then wondering why you're alone in your opinions, then yes! I'm glad you get it now. Only took forever!
>>
>>58296234
I take great joy that Sushi High Roller has denigrated to such an extent that its cuisine could be called fast food nowadays. That's what you get for kicking me out back in XY, assholes.
>>
>>58296237
>that nobody else does
Do you really think that there's absolutely nobody else who was not interested in that content? That is an insanely narrow-minded view. In fact I don't believe I'm alone in my opinions, because as I stated before, everyone I had ever happened to chat with this about before agreed with me, more or less... It's crazy how multiple different people can have differing opinions. It seems you have been unable or unwilling to learn this yourself, though. Sad!

no no anon's got a point here.

I'm almost compelled to explore every little nook and cranny I can get into, part of why I end up learning systems so much faster than other people, and I don't have that feeling in modern pokemon games. it feels like i'm actively punished every time I do by being locked into bullshit dialogue.

I miss when the NPCs actually talked about real shit. Give me major lore drops, give me useful gameplay info and hints to secrets, don't blather for like 6 A-presses about how your slowpoke looks cute in a rain hat and rubber booties. I do not care. If you were a real person standing in front of me I wouldn't care to listen to you either. Do not waste my goddamn time for giving you the time of day.

You want NPCs to talk muse about the food? How about one saying he found a sandwich he really liked. No? They're all just going to generically talk about their love of sandwiches, no specifics, no actually useful information? just "hey we made sandwiches a thing this gen guys!" thanks i figured that out a minute and a half into the trailer, you can stop beating me over the head with it. It's not even an especially good system, mechanical aspect or minigame aspect, why are you this proud? And why do you as game designers not see the blaring opportunity for something like "Hey I know it sounds like a weird combination, but one of my favorite past times is to sit in the pretty flower fields by Ruchbah Base and eat a banana, chorizo, cheese, rice, mayonaise, and whipped cream sandwich as I stare at the ocean. Plus I think all the chansey are making my pokemon grow really fast!"

To the best of my knowledge there wasn't a single non-named NPC in all of SV actually worthwhile to talk to. There are no more items hidden in sequestered untrodden paths. Hell all the doors that aren't gyms or the school are fake, you can't even go inside most the restaurants. If it wasn't too early, i'd feel like it was all procedurally generated bot.

Food is one of the best things to use for worldbuilding as it informs a lot about local cultures. And with pokemon specifically a lot of recent food lore has informed a lot about the world such as having things like sausages and burgers that some in the playerbase had to come to terms with. And with curry and sandwiches they are part of the greater idea of bonding with your pokemon which is the entire point of the camp and picnic stuff.
