Pokemon Shuffle was one of my favorite 3DS games although I hated it that it was free2play instead of premium. I haven't played it since 3DS era, so I yesterday decided to finally install the mobile phone version for the nostalgia. And boy, I still love the game (except its free2play model of course). At least it's from the rare cases of mobile phone games with actual gameplay instead of being an idle game, it only takes 150 mb space (it's ridiculous how so many mobile phone games take so much space for that kind of games) and it's actually pick and play (the way mobile phone games should be) since it starts immediately without annoying loading times, without overcomplicated tutorials and menus etc.Does anyone else here still plays it? My friend code is VFZ9GDP4.
I never played it to begin with. Have I been missing out?
>>58296331I had no idea this was even still a thing.
>>58296331I remember getting top 900 once on the weekly tournament some 8 years ago but that's as far as I got
I played it on 3DS until I hit the first roadblock and liked it, yeah. Is it still getting perpetual repeated old content like back when development ended or is it just an offline game at this point?
I sometimes still play this on my 3DS. I heard there was a mobile version as well but never played it. maybe I should look into it (if it's still up.)
Damn, this takes me back. I was obsessed with Shuffle for pretty much the entire first year it was out, but I was pretty mad that you couldn't track progress between the 3DS and mobile versions... Also the Facebook integration was really obnoxious, so I stuck with 3DS.It's kind of not as good as the original Trozei but I like it better than Battle Trozei.
There's actually a baffling number of Pokemon mobile games that came out in the mid 2010s that are totally forgotten now.Shuffle is more remembered because there was a DS version but let's pour one out for:>Pokemon Duel>Magikarp Jump>Pokemon Quest>Pokemon Meme Maker>the one Jap only TCG rhythm game that I emulated and has no idea what the fuck was happening And might as well dump Master Sex into that pile as well, what a shit game that became.
>>58299788Surprised we haven't gotten more since mobile has only grown in popularity since then.
>>58299788>And might as well dump Master Sex into that pile as well, what a shit game that became.Considering that game just had its 6th anniversary, no.
>>58296331I still play OP! I’m currently going back to the older levels to S rank them.
>>58301160Your FC didn’t work though :(
>>58296331I used to play the 3DS version daily and stopped when I finally got what I basically considered 100% for the game. Every Pokémon including Forms which them all at max Level, S Rank on every Stage and every Mega Stone. Including everything from all limited time Events. But I didn't want to the UX Stages at all.It sure was quite the... Experience...
>>58301156>Considering that game just had its 6th anniversary, no.>6th anniversaryyikes
>>58302212Yup it’s like /vp/ shitposters don’t know what they’re talking about as usual
>>58302974well, I was more referring to how it's already been six years... like jeez, already...
…You mean the game ISN’T shut down and gone?
>>58299788A product of an era where Nintendo was leaning more and more into mobile due to the 3DS' initial disastrous first year alongside the even bigger disaster that was the Wii U.
>>58302210How long did that take you?
>>58307120It took me just a little more than three thousand hours. It was fun and something to do each day, but also hard and grindy at times. I was there from the start to the final update with new content.
>>58307621Hours well spent, then... well at least the majority of those three-thousand hours, lol.
>>58299788All these came out like 5 years before they started doing Pokemon Presents. They where all thrown on the app store with basically zero advertisement. More people have probably played Pokemon Friends than these other titles simply from it getting shown in a Presents. Really goes to show how impactful a a little stream every few months can affect sales.
>>58296331I occasionally play it, but I stick to the 3DS version because fuck paying for freemium shit or grinding because I hit a brick wall. With that version you can use a save editor to inject the currencies and stuff like that and just play it indefinitely. I'll occasionally get the desire to go back and then play my way through 10 or so levels then put it down again for another quarter/half of a year or something.
>>58308688I distinctly remember Shuffle and Picross being in a Nintendo Direct
>>58299734>I remember getting top 900 once on the weekly tournamentGiven the number of players at the time, I'm guessing that was still a pretty damn good placing.
>>58299788>pokemon duelMAN that shit was good
>>58296331Kinda surprised this and all the other mobile stuff doesn't just get ported over to Switch/Switch 2. It would be easy money.
>>58312396the Pokemon moba and Pokemon champions are on both switch and mobile.my only guess is these are more touch screen focused and the switches touch screen is kind of an unused secondary feature (i keep forgetting it even has one)
>>58312396>>58312473Could be aspect ratio concerns, too? Masters should absolutely be on Switch, the battle inputs are very, very fast but you could still adapt it to buttons, but its UI was drawn for ratios no wider than 4:3 or so, and its cutscenes are even narrower. I suppose you could just do a narrow ratio with a border like some quick conversions do.
>>58312621you could just turn the switch on its side in handheld mode, some games already do that, including nintendo's own brain training. but i feel its likely they dont want to do that out of a stubborn rule of the game needing to work on TVs as well.
>>58312640Ah, true on both counts.
>>58296331>3dsWtf I thought this was a mobile game, this is the first game I ever put my money on
>>58312621They can just slap come colorful Pokemon borders on the sides (like back in the day when you played a GB Pokemon game on the Super Game Boy on your SNES) and call it a day. Kids and, let's be real, adults, will jump all over it because it's Pokemon.
>>58312744how much money did you sink into this
>>58299762No surprise there... Pokemon Friends doesn't support any cross play/save/data between Switch and mobile, and it's 2025. I'd have been shocked to learn if it had been any different ten years ago with Shuffle.
>>58302210That's basically me. Left my save with max heart and coins too. Once in a while when I boot up the 3ds to play other games I'd go in shuffle and take on whatever special stage is on at the time or Weekend Meowth for fun.
>>58312473It's still a feature, though, and works well enough for it to accommodate the mobile games of yesteryear, imo. It may even be a good way to start pushing the touch screen functionality for future games, too. I honestly prefer that over another one of the Switch 2's secondary features... that being the mouse controls.
>>58312640Nintendo made the Switch Lite and I'd say it's a safe bet a Switch 2 Lite is in the works, so putting this and some other Pokemon mobile games on a new platform shouldn't be impossible.
The Shuffle general threads here were so fun. I'm almost most nostalgic for them than for the game itself.
Shuffle did really well on the 3DS. Surprised it hasn't gotten a sequel or re-release.
>>58318765Instead, the spiritual successor was Café Mix, the mobile game that people only remember that it exists from Presents and news feeds, somehow still running and getting updates, and somehow lasted longer than Shuffle.
