This is a Psychic-type thread. It's a place to post about Psychic-types and the trainers who specialize in them. This thread knows what you're thinking but you should post in it anyway. >What's your favorite Psychic-type Pokemon?>Is Psychic your favorite type?>Who's your favorite Psychic specialist? >Ever do a Mono-Psychic run? Ever build a Mono-Psychic team? >Would you rather be a Psychic/Occultist or a Scientist if you were a Psychic specialist?
You know they don't even really have the excuse of there being not enough Psychics in Kanto. Sabrina had plenty of options, she must really just like Venomoth.
>>58296405>>Would you rather be a Psychic/Occultist or a Scientist if you were a Psychic specialist?Psychic/Occultist. The idea that people in the Pokemon world can even have psychic powers in the first place is pretty neato, but the mood that (like the martial artists) it's a quality that can lower some of the gaps between Pokemon and Trainer and bring you closer together as a single people is weirdly very cozy & sentimental. That and everything implied by the Scientist background comes off as humiliating and dehumanizing.
bonzi buddy
>>58296405>What's your favorite Psychic-type Pokemon?Reuniclus by far. He's definitely among my Top 5 Pokemon and I also love some of the "Frutiger Aero" vibes with his green substance. I also work on cellular biology so I might be biased.>Is Psychic your favorite type?It used to be when I was a child, but now I think Ground is my favorite.>Who's your favorite Psychic specialist? Caitlin. Bonus points for using Reuniclus.>Ever do a Mono-Psychic run? Ever build a Mono-Psychic team? I haven't done any mono-type run yet. Maybe I will.>Would you rather be a Psychic/Occultist or a Scientist if you were a Psychic specialist? As much as I would love to have psychic powers, Scientist just fits so much for me.
>>58296405>What's your favorite Psychic-type Pokemon?Deoxys. For awhile, it was even my favourite pokemon till Torterra took the spot. He's still however my favourite legendary/mythical pokemon. It's the whole alien gimmick of his that I really like and his movie is awesome too>Is Psychic your favorite type? No>Who's your favorite Psychic specialist?Sabrina. She's cool and hot>Ever do a Mono-Psychic run? Ever build a Mono-Psychic team?Nope>Would you rather be a Psychic/Occultist or a Scientist if you were a Psychic specialist?Psychic! It's so awesome to know that humans with powers exist in this world. Makes you realise how different they are to real life humans like you and i
>>58296573Love aliens. Love Pokemon. Love alien Pokemon.
>>58296527This big, happy jelly baby is the reason why I always play Pokemon White instead of Black. Never been more loyal to a version exclusive. Like to put em on my sand teams.
I wish there were more Psychic/Ground Pokémon. Baltoy and Claydol are great though. More of that please. Also, Gamefreak, how many dicks do I have to suck to get Well-Baked Body distributed to Claydol the next gen it isn't dexcut in.

>>58296405>pic rel>no, but a pseudo-legendary is both psychic and my favorite>sabrina. god i want her to break me>i'm currently in the middle of one on the X version. its hard keeping everyone equally levelled.>occultist. id be a scientist for steel or electric types, but as a psychic type, i gotta embrace the extrascientific nature of the type.
>>58296405>Favorite Psychic type?Delphox slowly earned it's spot as my favorite Pokemon, I just really love foxes, witches/mages and fire, mix 'em all those together and you get a pretty elegant Pokemon, I also love the new Mega.>Is Psychic your favorite?Yes, by a good margin, used to be Fire and Steel, but I started realizing just how much Psychic types pulled through for me across the series and how much I loved having them on my team, Kadabra in Red, Jynx in Silver, Gardevoir in Emerald and so on, I love the mysticism that is inherent to the type, I also the fact that Psychic type Pokemon are very smart, in some cases way smarter than humans like with Alakazam, so if they choose to stay by your side it means they really like you, which is really sweet.>Who's your favorite Psychic specialist?Sabrina, she's hot and mysterious in equal measure, albeit Avery is a close second, I'm probably one of the few people who likes this goofball by he's a very endearing character.>Ever did a Mono-Psychic run?A few times.>Would you rather be a Psychic/Occultist?Psychic, I hate how underexplored psychics are in the games and series as a whole, because they're such a fascinating part of the Pokemon world and in theory they should easily rise to the highest battling positions considering they can easily they can communicate with their Pokemon and read their opponents.
>>58296405>What's your favorite Psychic-type Pokemon?sigilyph. i am the only sigilyphfag.>Is Psychic your favorite type?it's the runner-up, my favorite is ghost.>Who's your favorite Psychic specialist?sabrina. the others just don't really have the right vibe.>Ever do a Mono-Psychic run? Ever build a Mono-Psychic team?once, yeah. i was playing a romhack on doubles mode, realized i had access to psychic surge, and from that point on my playthrough was mono-psychic. probably wouldn't do it again, it was way too easy.>Would you rather be a Psychic/Occultist or a Scientist if you were a Psychic specialist?psychic, easily.
>>58296405>What's your favorite Psychic-type Pokemon?Pic unrelated, but it’s up there. The actual answer is very hard to determine. Beheeyem, Deoxys, Abra, Sigilyph, Reuniclus, I could go on for a while. I love the ayys most, but a whole lot of psychics are pretty cool.>Is Psychic your favorite type?In concept, yes. In execution, no. The typing tends to be very bipolar for me. I really hate a lot of its designs as much as I really love others. Realistically, I think either Poison might be my favorite just due to the sheer concentration of good designs. It’s overlooked a lot, and I don’t know why, but I struggle to think of more than maybe 3 stinkers in that whole line-up.>Who's your favorite Psychic specialist?Haven’t got one. I don’t really care about the characters. I’m here for the mons, man.>Ever do a Mono-Psychic run? Ever build a Mono-Psychic team?Haven’t done any mono runs ever, no. Ironically, the first one I attempted (and promptly gave up on) was a mono-Dark run… of Unova.>Would you rather be a Psychic/Occultist or a Scientist if you were a Psychic specialist?lol, this is even a question? Psychic/Occultist 100% of the way. >>58296477 lays out the reasoning pretty well, but I’ve always just loved telekinetic and telepathic abilities so even if that wasn’t the case I’d probably still prefer the actual trainer class side of Psychic specialization. >>58297895Know that you are not alone, friend.>>58297174Really love this line too. The only line from gen 9 I would be miss if that entire roster got wiped out of existence. I don’t know why people want to fuck it, and I’m too scared to ask.>>58297790Congratulations on the decent mega.
So nice to see a thread about Psychic Type!My favourite Type is Psychic and my favourite Pokémon is Mew.
>>58298530This is an ugly Mew. I like Mew but this is vile.
Mixed feelings about gen 9, but I got Armarouge and Farigiraf out of it so win.
>>58298520>I don’t know why people want to fuck it, and I’m too scared to ask.Birdfuckers, also Ostriches are known to be humansexual, in that they will seek out their zookeeper as a mate over one of their own species
>>58296448More gym leaders should have one pokemon (but probably no more) that doesn't share their type. Paldea was pretty cool, but then tera-ing into the same type is a little lame. Will seems a bit eccentric, so I think a Porygon2 would fit well as it's also very psychic like (one of the very few non psychic types to learn psybeam). While Kecleon and Spinda are pretty psychic like, I'd say that Volbeat and Illumise would be good canidates for Tate and Liza due to their duo dynamic and (at least Volbeat) being able to threaten dark types which are a lot more common in these games than before. Both Luxray and Lucario are good psuedo-psychic type options for Lucian (Luxray's light theme is somewhat adjacent to the type), though Lucario will be used in the very next fight with Cynthia, so maybe Luxray would fit better. This could also be changed to Porygon-Z in Platinum. Caitlin is a little tricky, as Mienshao is very psychic adjacent, but it's used by fellow E4 member Marshall. Watchog fits pretty well too and theoretically can stop a ghost type sweep with its immunity and crunch, but it's atrocious. I think Darmanitan is the next most fitting option, but whether it should have it's hidden ability is an interesting question as basically 0 npcs have them and the moveset to make both pre and post zen mode work would be a little awkward, but it think it's the best. In the sequel, Ninetales or Clefable would be good pics too. For Olympia, no gen 6 (non mythical) pokemon really fits a space aesthetic, but Magnezone (UFO) is pretty close. Ok, he's not a gym leader or E4 member, but Dexio is apparently a "psychic specialist". I think Spinda works for his first match (level 15), but his second one should be an Alolan Exeggutor, as like Pikachu (he has an Alolan Raichu), you can find Execcute in Kalos, but after time in Alola it will evolve into something that fits the region more.Bede changes his type, Tulip has her Florges, and I don't like Faba or Avery.
>>58296477>>58298520>>58297790>>58296573Pokemon is such a peculiar setting under scrutiny because most "normal people" live in an incredibly technologically advanced consumerist society not too dissimilar from what we'd expect out of a pacifist near-future society: they've mastered the conversion of energy-to-matter-to-information and now food, healthcare, poverty, are all largely solved issues. But then it gets weird because the vast majority of Pokemon's history was spent as an unironic fantasy setting that most modern people are either very quick to ignore or have gone to great lengths to "science away" what they must see as superstition or misunderstandings. While a niche community of "traditionalists" continue to exist in the form of Psychic-Trainers, Channelers/Occultists, Martial Artists, and I guess Dragon Tamers, who still follow the "old ways of doing things"; physically themselves engaging themselves and trying to connect to their Pokemon less as servants/pets and more as equals. Pokemon people live in a society where most people are completely normal bubble-tea drinking, 9-5 office jobber, studying for college, people, but then there's a small sub-section of the population that has essentially said, "this is all fake, gay, and unnatural. I'm living with the Pokemon." who're producing people that can move things with their mind and bend metal with their barehands.
Me on the left.
>Try to look up cool Drowzee or Hypno art>It's just overwhelmingly pornography>Moreso than than when trying to look up art of popular waifumonI hate these freaks so much it's unreal.
While I think any human could use Toxic, by throwing their own shit at the target, what Psychic moves beyond Calm Mind could a human use?
>>58300322>what Psychic moves beyond Calm Mind could a human use?Going by everything I've seen in *media (games, anime, comics), a lot more than people maybe expect: Agility, Barrier, Calm Mind, Confusion, Eerie Spell, Extrasensory, Future Sight, Heal Pulse (maybe), Hypnosis, Imprison, Instruct, Kinesis, Magic Room (maybe), Meditate, Miracle Eye (maybe), Psybeam, Psychic, Psycho Cut (maybe), Psyshock, Reflect, Rest, Role Play, Stored Power, Telekinesis, Teleport, Trick, Trick Room, and Zen Headbutt. *I'm including every psychic, occultist/hex maniac, and a few moves replicated by martial artists.
>>58300322>>58300338We know from a few NPCs in older games and from Avery's card that powerful psychics can teleport around, most have telekinesis to some degree, which could probably pass for quite a few Psychic attacks like Psychic, hypnotic powers are a thing too, Avery had enough psychic power to spawn a Psychic Terrain during his fight by releasing a bunch of psychic energy, pretty much every mind trick move like Imprison makes sense given telepathy. We also know from the manga that there are people with rare powers (albeit it's not elaborated upon if it is psychic in nature I think) that allow them to heal Pokemon and possibly people. We also know that mediums sorta fall within the category of psychics sometimes too, so maybe some ghostly stuff also works, I'm rather curious if pyrokinesis is a psychic power in the Pokemon world?
>>58300322>Would you rather be a Psychic/Occultist or a Scientist if you were a Psychic specialist?I wish there was a middle ground trainer class, a medium wing sauce of a guy. I always wanted there to be a 'Ghost Hunter' or 'Paranormal Investigator' trainer class. You'd find them hanging around the woods or in abandoned buildings, they'd use Ghosts and Psychics or Pokemon like Noctowl.
I like weird/distorted designs the most. My appreciation for Mr. Rime skyrocketed when I noticed the face on its belly actually moved.
>>58301004>I like weird/distorted designs the most.I kind of like the vaguely fetal ones. It's an interesting piece of ecology/creature design that a psychic-type Pokemon can become so specialized that large portions of its' body become atrophied or otherwise vestigial in favor of making a more powerful psionic Pokemon. The Reuniclus line being a literal psychic zygote that goes through cellular mitosis as it evolves is 10/10.
>>58296405>>What's your favorite Psychic-type Pokemon? This is hard, I like Metagross currently>>Is Psychic your favorite type?Yep, ever since i was a child i thought of telekinetic abilities as OP. Also if you get more psychic powers to the point you can warp reality, that is even more OP>>Who's your favorite Psychic specialist?>>Ever do a Mono-Psychic run? Ever build a Mono-Psychic team?I have had ideas for them, ever since the introduction of mega pokemon>>Would you rather be a Psychic/Occultist or a Scientist if you were a Psychic specialist?I would be the occultistScientist can work too, but i dont see them sharing the abilities and thus not having a bond with them
>>58301113Big head supremacy
>>58301124>>Who's your favorite Psychic specialist?i didnt add who my favorite specialist isSabrina is a common choice and that makes sense due to her portrayal in the anime I like Tulip and want to learn more of heri like Will being the weirdo that he is
>>58299563It's why i really liked legends Arceus a lot. To show a time in the Pokemon world where things and relations with pokemon were different (for the most part)
>>58301125thoughts on mega Malamar?
>>58302640Not that anon, but Mega Malamar is quite dapper.
>>58301917Shiny Cresselia looks gorgeous, shame it’s so hard to get in gen 4
>What's your favorite Psychic-type Pokemon?Espeon - Gallade - Metagross are my core trio>Is Psychic your favorite type?Yes, its the most versatile and useful type>Who's your favorite Psychic specialist?Dexio>Ever do a Mono-Psychic run? Ever build a Mono-Psychic team?Mono as in pure single Psychic type only? No, its usually hybrid>Would you rather be a Psychic/Occultist or a Scientist if you were a Psychic specialist?Scientist that has something to do with computers.
>>58296405>>58296405
>>58296477Sorry if wrong thread but I really like this concept and think it should be the standard. Teams like Steven and Alder's are probably my favorite. For Gen I, could look something like this>BrockSandslash, obvious but works>MistyTrickier given the abundance of Water-types already in the game. Probably Nidoqueen with Rain Dance / Surf like in Stadium, if not something Gen II like Togetic or Piloswine>SurgePorygon, cyber angle can sort of fits into his military / weapons theme, plus learns Tri-Attack and T-Bolt>ErikaChansey, healing fits in thematically eith Grass-type>KogaEither Scyther or Gengar (technically Poison-type already but usually think of it as Ghost) for ninja and shadows>SabrinaVenomoth like OP, could also give her Ninetales too>BlaineAerodactyl, Weezing, or Ditto could work. Aero fits as a fire-breathing dragon and learns Fire Blast, Weezing already feels fire adjacent, and Ditto cause it can be found in Pkmn Mansion and could play into Blaine being a mad scientist with Mewtwo lore>GiovanniaAlready uses Kangaskhan and Persian, could throw in Tentacruel for the Kaiju aesthetic and carries Poison (villain) type
I love Necrozma a lot, shame Ultra Necrozma got taken behind the shed.
>>58303853I’m sorry anon, he was too powerful to live
