Legends ZA won't be the full Kalos experience if they don't give you a free Snorlax before even getting to the second gym and it's the best party member you have by a country mile.

Snorlax has always been a really powerful Pokemon. While it's been powercrept to hell and back even in gen 6 competitive, for ingame uses, it's still INSANE to have something this strong that early. You're in the E4 and he's still out here body slamming like a champ and tanking special moves all day. He's always been that cool bro you can rely on. Except being the lead, oh my god stop saying "can't run away" already!

But why did they give us a Snorlax that early though?
>>
>>58304452
Because KANTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
>>
>>58304452
Yall dont liked it bw pokemon so shatsuda shoved KANTOOOO do your throats
>>
>>58304452
XY has a weird habit of giving the player powerful Pokémon.
>Speed Boost Torchic on release
>Snorlax
>Lucario with its Mega Stone
>Kanto starter with its own Mega Stone
Lemme know if I'm missing any.
>>
>>58304452
They tried a new thing in gen 6 where you can deposit strong giftmons in this PC thing. Didn't take with a lot of retards though.
>>
disregarding the mUH KANTOOO genwar shit, it's just unbalanaced
>>
>>58304465
Aerodactyl with Megastone was also practically free, unless you count 10-15 minutes in the mines, where you must go anyway, due to plot reasons.
>>
>>58304465
Xerneas and Yveltal both get pretty crazy signature moves.
>>
>>58304465
You could honestly make a team just based off of gift/storymons, and have it be stupid strong
>Greninja
>Goyizard
>Snorlax
>Lucario
>Lapras
>fuck it, Legendary
just stick the mega stones on both mons, and choose which one based on the battle. you have no consequences beyond playing an easy game.
and why wouldn't you? the devs clearly wanted you to use these mons youre gifted.
>>
>>58304452
Kanto
>>
>>58304932
this combined with the retardedly overpowered exp share make XY so damn dull

>gives you a free 700 BST mon at a time where NPC trainers are only just starting to use final evolutions
>it isn't even that good compared to some of the other megas because it has no decent STAB yet
Funny
>>
>>58304452
you could technically get an early snorlax in johto and sinnoh but that requires grinding honey trees and pokewalker
>>
>>58305201
I should replay these
>>
>>58305201
Their signature moves are literally the definition of decent
>>
>>58304461
And it was still miles better than the chinese Kanto ripoff shit Unova squeezed out and held you at gunpoint to use
>>
>>58305483
was it doe
>>
>>58305201
Gen 6 was very lazy and badly designed. BUT this is one of the few good things they did, because Hoenn decides to give you like 2 water types that can learn surf early so you might as well just bring it with you and it learns a ton of other HMs
>>
>>58305517
Yes. The animalmons and jobmons shoved down your throat from Unova was fucking awful, holy shit
>>
>>58305201
Love how the Lati twins didn't have their signature moves be worth a damn until Gen 9 DLC.
>>
>>58305629
was it REALLY doe
>>
>>58304932
>and why wouldn't you? the devs clearly wanted you to use these mons youre gifted.
You could do that, or you could at least TRY to make the playthrough interesting by using whatever (You) think is cool instead
>>
>>58305751
Yep >>58305629
>>
>>58305757
ok
>>
>>58304452
They were thinking that most people aren’t retarded enough to play Pokemon games for challenge

Also this is literally a reddit thread btw
>>
>>58305188
There was also Affection.
I remember abusing of it with Drapion. By maxing it, holding a Scope Lens and spamming Night Slash and Cross Poison, I would literally crit 100% of the time, and with the Sniper ability.
>>
>>58305204
There's a difference between going out of you way for a ridiculous power boost and outright destroying progression.
>>
>>58306436
>it destroys progression because...uh...the toddler game turns into a toddler game!!
>>
>>58304452
Why didn't they just walk around it?
>>
>>58306466
There are people on this board that honestly think some pokemon games are harder than others.
>>
>>58306656
There are some games harder than others, but it's all so low on the difficulty scale that it doesn't register either way. For reference, most Kirby is simple as fuck, but there is a clear difficulty gap between Super Star and Epic Yarn.
>>
>>58306832
Every pokemon game is 0/10 difficulty.
>choose strongest attack
>win
Has literally never not worked.
>>
>>58306840
Come back after playing Kirby & the Epic Yarn and you'll know 0/10. At least you need to know what >Strongest attack is.
>>
>>58304465
If you count what’s feasible in the earlygame without overleveling, you can obtain some weird mons. Super Training giving you free stones lets you get Gallade, Roserade, Florges, and Raichu before the second gym. Hawlucha is also catchable at that point, and you can get Eevee to Sylveon there too. Aerodactyl is free and you can obtain its mega stone for free early on as well. All of this isn’t even counting Honedge, who solos much of the game.
>>
>>58306436
Sinnoh destroys progression if you just train the regular mons you get early on
>Infernape gets close combat in the 30s
>Staraptor gets close combat upon evolution
>Torterra gets earthquake upon evolution
>you can also just pick up an earthquake tm early on in Platinum
>>
>>58304932
>and why wouldn't you?
Because I don’t really like any of those pokemon, and XY also has a retardedly big dex so I can just catch the ones I like instead.
>>
>>58304465

lv 5 Kalos starter
lv 10 Farfetch'd trade for a Bunnelby (100% catch rate in Route 2)
>1 badge
lv10 Kanto starter + free mega stone
lv15 mandatory Snorlax encounter
lv20 Tyrunt or Amaura
lv20 Aerodactyl + free mega stone
lv20 Steelix trade for a Luvdisc (100% encounter rate in that same city)

It turns a game for 6-10 year olds into a game for literal babies.
>>58306656
And they'd be objectively correct. Some hand out experience, others don't. Some hand out overpowered giftmons that can easily solo the game even with minimal experience, other's don't
>>
>>58306840
Ehh I've had a few occasions where that didn't work. Ultra Necrozma is an example. Most of the dex is slower and can't take a hit, the rare few mons that can barely deal anything. It's a Pokémon you pretty much need to strategize for. Examples could be toxic spam or using a Malamar.
>>
>>58307546
>game for 6-10 year olds
click A to win

>game for literal babies
click A to win

XY destroyed my heckin franchise!!!!
