Why aren't there wild growing Apricorns in modern Hisui / Sinnoh?
>>58310253There probably are. If we ever get an actual ORAS-style remake of Sinnoh, we'll probably see them
Most Apricorns from that era were damaged 100 years ago during the second coming of Arceus
>>58310261Just wait twenty more years lmao
>>58310253There probably are but Kurt is the only one able to make Pokeballs from them in the modern world.
>>58310253There are. No one crafts with them anymore. The only reason you even know about them in Johto is because of the stubborn old man that refuses to modernize.
>>58310253There most likely are, it's just that (You) don't see them because they aren't relevant to your player character's modern day Pokemon journey as there isn't a craftsman like Kurt or a specialized device like the Cram-O-Matic in the region, which is why you've literally only seen them show up in Johto (where Kurt honors the old ways), Galar (where the Cram-O-Matic is present) and Hisui (where modern Poke Balls literally did not exist yet).
>>58310253because plass is lazy dogshit and bdsp had to be sabotaged for it
>>58310484>>58310501Yeah, that's one possible explanation. For my part, I imagined some environmental factors affecting the population of Apricorn trees, like pollution or deforestation, which caused them to disappear. Or there are some specific requirements that need to be fulfilled in order for them to grow, like special soil or climate, which in turn limits them to a few regions.>>58310526Such devices should be much more common though. If each region has fossil restoration tech, then item crafting machines shouldn't be that difficult to make. It's just kind of odd why GF decided to make Apricorns reappear in Galar only.
>>58310526>>58310484Pretty much this: Pokeball are manufactured as a purchasable commodity to the point that Making Pokeballs from hand became a lost art. Apricorn trees still exist, but the fruit they bare is useless to a modern trainer unless there's a Craftman with Pokéball making knowledge. Plus, due to high demand, it would be more environmentally friendly to create artificial ones in a factory rather than chop every single tree like the fucking Oncler.
>>58310253Because berriesThey couldn't have you choosing between all the berries AND apricorns for your limited field space
>>58310253Went extinct after the extinction of Ursaluna that kept the Stantler population at bay who regularly ate the apricorns and in direct competition with Pachirisu. This is why in modern Sinnoh Pachirisu is rare and can only eat berries and bark.
>>58313720>UrsalunaNot extinct, said to be uncommon in the modern day according to Perrin.
>>58313720>>58313723Where'd all the Peat go? We do know Teddiursa migrated to Eterna.
>>58313769Peat Blocks simply aren't accessible for the player's inventory because at the time of Scarlet and Violet's release, they wanted you to buy Legends: Arceus, trade your Ursaring over there, and evolve it in that game in order to have Ursaluna in SV.This doesn't automatically equate total absence of Peat or Ursaluna's extinction in-lore, it's ludonarrative dissonance, like how you can't traverse to that blacked out portion of Paldea on the map even when your Raidon gains the ability to fly, making virtually any and all obstacles obsolete, because that portion of the map doesn't actually exist in the game's limitations, even though there's clearly something over there in terms of the wider Pokemon World by virtue of how they designed the map.
>>58313769I ate it all.
>>58310261Yeah DPP fans got the short end of the stick by having a remake in 2010 instead of 2021, imagine all the upgrades it would have had if it released in the recent years on the switch
>>58312952>the fruit they bare is useless to a modern trainer unless there's a Craftman with Pokéball making knowledgeI can tell you never competed in a Pokéathlon.
>>58313720>Ursaluna that kept the Stantler population at baythis don't have a lick of sense when an ursaring could do the job just fine
>>58310253As happened in reality, many wild varieties were replaced by their domesticated versions, such as the case of the aurochs with cattle, the tarpan with domestic horses, or the case of Teosinte (wild corn) with its domesticated variety.
Modern Poke Balls are not made of apricorns, they're electronic
>>58310253I still don't fully understand what the deal with Apricorns and their relation to Poké Balls even is.
>>58315195Interesting. If that's the case, then there should be modern versions (assuming the colored Apricorns are those domesticated variants) in Sinnoh, which isn't the case. Or there are replacements that aren't used for Pokéball production and therefore aren't mentioned.>>58315247The anime-ones are. In other media (games, manga, etc.), they are plain and simple Gachapon balls, with no electronics.>>58315696There is no official answer to that, they are arbitrarily set up as a resource for early pokeballs. According to that one ancient guidebook, regarding the pokeball's history, you could basically take any container in any shape (e.g. glasses case) and use it to store [spouler]shrunken[/spoiler] pokemon.
>>58315928>In other media (games, manga, etc.), they are plain and simple Gachapon balls, with no electronics. The Aether Foundation has a jamming signal that prevents Poke Balls from being used to catch Pokemon, so they are clearly electronic in the games too
>>58314854Only in Jouto and nowhere else.
>>58315928>assuming the colored Apricorns are those domesticated variantsyes
>>58315696i always imagined you'd just hollow out an apricorn clean it up a bit and boom you got yourself a pokeball
>>58315696>>58316823It is based on the Jicara, a real-life mexican fruit, it is dried and can be used in many ways.
>>58316842
>>58316848
>>58316850Mayan Poke Ball
Break the hold the pokemart has on you!Make your own balls!
>>58315696Apricorn produce a kind a gas that the catcher to trick the Pokémon into instinctively shrink and hide to the nearest spot (which is the fruit that emitted said gas). Early Pokeballs were made out of Apricorns, but recent advancement allows them to synthesizes the gas to put with containers.
>>58316886>Park BallSOUL.I hate the "Sport Ball" design with a passion. The only reason why they made was because of the Park Ball from the Pal Park (as if they couldn't call it "Pal Ball", dumbasses).
>>58310253>>58316842>>58316859This makes me remember that we need more colored balls and brown apricorn would be perfect for that
