I like Pokemon X a lot. XY are probably the strongest initial pair games. They're obviously not as good as third versions, but they're better than RGB/GS/RS/DP/BW imo.

it's not the best game in the series but you could do a lot worse
youve got your mega evolution, you've got your character customization (and actually good customization unlike later games), you've got a pretty underappreciated soundtrack and a visually appealing region, solid dex, it doesn't really do all that much wrong
the only thing is that it doesn't really do anything exceptionally well either, a lot of the characters are super uninteresting and forgettable, the postgame is severely lacking (you've got like, looker missions, a couple legendaries, and shiny hunting, that's about it) and if you asked me to name any specifically memorable moments in the story i wouldn't be able to. i think the biggest loss is the fact that 3ds servers are down now, gen 6's multiplayer was by far the best thing about it
also the game is super easy even by pokemon standards, but that's not really an issue imo. no one should be playing pokemon for the difficulty
tl;dr it's not the second coming of Christ or anything but it's an alright time to play through every once in a while

I had more fun by boxing the forced gifts the game gives you and refusing to engage with the main gimmick. Also, turn off the forced EXP Share.
