>What is this?
People are turning into Pokemon. Some are having the time of their, and some are struggling to survive. These are their stories.
>How do I join?
Just start posting.
>What's the lore?
People change into Pokemon at random in their sleep, and nobody knows why. This isn't the apocalypse, even if it might feel like to some characters it in the moment. Some people are more in touch with their instincts (and have lost more of their humanity) than others. That's about it.

Furfags aren't people.

isn't this just that whole pmd collective story writing thing again?
>>
>>58316539
I really ought to collate all the stories into pastebins for everybody. Maybe when I'm less exhausted.

>>58316638
Similar idea, but a different premise, different stories and different writers (might be a bit of overlap in writers).
>>
>>58316741
I'm a little tempted to write something, but I need a little more info. Do people wake up as mons in our real world or are we also transported into the pokemon world? Are there still normal animals around like dogs, cats, etc?
>>
>>58316757
Still in the real world. There are still normal animals, though some of them are changing too.
>>
>>58316757
What >>58316759 said. Most of the stories feature the mundane realism of our world colliding with the fantastical whimsy of Pokemon in various combinations. There's just enough people and animals transforming to frustrate/invalidate any government efforts to contain the Pokemon, but just few enough that civilization isn't going to collapse. Original writefag also suggested that you should avoid legendaries and NEVER explain why the transformations are taking place. Another anon suggested that rocks and trees could also be occasionally transforming into evolution stones and apricorn trees and the like, so if you want to do something with that feel free.

A slightly expanded >what's the lore section for next time:

People and animals are changing at random in their sleep, waking up still in the real world, but now as Pokemon, and nobody knows why (that includes you. Please don't try to explain it). Just enough transformations are occurring to notably change day-to-day life without collapsing civilization. This is not the apocalypse, even if it might feel like it to some characters in the moment. Some people are more in touch with their instincts than others, and some have lost more of their humanity than others. That's about it. Avoid legendaries if possible.

Pizza was always delicious to me, but now, with this new brain, I can only describe it as heavenly. The flavors, the texture, that fact that could eat it with out touching the greasy bread part.
Yum

So, Abra like pizza. I mean there are not very many things that DON'T like pizza.

I wonder if that rat pizza meme would now be with some kind of Rodent pokemon?

It was so weird, but finding out I could split concentration like there were multiple of me, which was definitely a great perk of psychic power.

If I worked on it more, I could do more than two things, I am sure.
Currently, I was writing down as much of the experiences down with a floating pen, and also biting the floating goodness that was normally bog standard microwave pizza.

Wonder if Vademon could do something like this?

If I remember, I think it could psychicly control things, and also throw digital planets at stuff.

I take another bite of the floating goodness. I wonder how many calories I have to consume to keep up my abilities. I dont doubt this bulbous big brain needs Hella nutrients, but I am currently doing two things at once and I Don't feel fatigued.
But I also read that I can project my consciousness and if these new age books are correct I should be able to travel without leaving home.
Which suit me just fine cause I hated leaving my apartment anyways.

I finish off the pizza with an audible swallow. Now I have more power to focus. Putting the pen down, I return to a meditation session. And this time when I achieve that cosmic floating feeling Instead imagine leaving this spot in a woosh I suddenly become one with the energy and zip zap through the sky I picture the arcade that was still open, it's sights, it's sounds, the familiar feeling of being surrounded by blinking noisy fun machines. To feel the other patrons, the fairly cute prize manager.

But that's when I noticed, I hadn't astrally projected to this spot, no I could feel the carpet, hear the sounds, and feel the sudden stares at me.

Oh crap... I didn't project, I teleported.
Telported right into my favorite Arcade.

The Abra Brain was assaulted by feelings, mostly shock, some fear, some excitement.
Holy shit it's one of those pokemon things! Someone yelled.
How did it get in here? Another yelled.
Which one was it?
It's an Abra, yelled as very excitable kid of around 12 or so.
All of them starting to encroach to my location.
The swirling emotions, like a stew of way to much flavor, was starting to make me feel nauseous, the Abra Brain screaming to flee.

But right before the feelings overwhelmed me to blowing my recently eaten pizza on the patterned carpet, whoosh.

I Telported again, this time with no idea where, only that I need to leave, NOW.
Safety is what I craved, both me and the Abra,s brain.

Whoosh. I’m somewhere else. No arcade, no screaming kids, just… quiet? My Abra Brain’s still spinning, a nauseous soup of emotions—shock, fear, that kid’s stupid excitement. I swallow hard, no pizza puke, thank you. Where am I?
I squint—dark, damp, smells like wet concrete. An alley? My tail’s slumped on the ground, heavy.

But I don't feel much around me, just a light hum of thoughts, distant enough that of I kept my radius of thought small I would feel nothing.

Still didn't have a clue where the hell I was. All I knew is I was safe for now.

>You helped the Fedoark dislodge her arm from the partition wall.
>Honestly, you just gave motivational speeches to her until she found a way to pull it out.
>"Now what?" she asked once her arm was free.
>"Like I said. Feel free to go home or whatever," you replied.
>Your colleague opened the back door locks.
>"You can't be serious," she replied.
>"First you capture me, then you force me to reveal myself, and you record it so you can have blackmail on me, and now you are essentially telling me to fuck off like nothing happened?" she continued in a more agitated way."
>"Why are you wording it like we told you to strip on camera against your will?" asked your colleague.
>"BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT YOU FUCKING DID!" she shouted at your colleague.
>"Real smooth there..." you said to your colleague.
>"I want to know what you want from me," she stated.
>"Honestly, we didn't think that far ahead with it," your colleague replied.
>"YOU FUCKING WHAT?" she shouted, even more agitated.
>"Yeah, we had our suspicions that you weren't completely... human and needed to check," he replied.
>"What gave it away?" she asked with anger but also a tone of fear in her voice.
>"The way you spoke, being first and foremost. Your lips didn't match what you were saying at all. Watching you speak was like watching a dubbed movie," you explained calmly.
>"You could have just asked!" she stated.
>"Ah yes, asking a federal agent if they are a Pokemon in disguise and expecting them to give an honest answer," replied your colleague.
>The Zoroark shrunk somewhat backwards, knowing that her alternative didn't exactly work.
>"The second thing was coffee. We both saw you yesterday drinking coffee, and today you spat it all over the wall in the captain's office. The only two options were that you either became one or an impostor took your place," you continued.
>"Wait, how do you know that Pokemon don't like coffee? I didn't see anything about it in the news or the reports." she asked.

>"You are one yourself, aren't you?" she said it all smug, like she had you all figured out.
>Your colleague rolled his eyes at what she said.
>Maybe if you didn't tell him your thought process beforehand, he would have some suspicions of you.
>Then again, he knew of two examples, and a third wouldn't be out of the question.
>"Give me the coffee cup," you said to her.
>Your colleague stopped you from grabbing the cup, however.
>"Think for a moment, that cup had all her saliva over it! What if that is the vector?" he said to you.
>"You have a point," you replied to him.
>"Chickening out? Don't worry, your secret is safe with me," she said it with glee.
>"We are driving back to McDonald's and getting another one," you said to your colleague.
>Your colleague didn't object as you still had to return to the area to finish your patroll.
>The Zoroark assumed her disguise again and sat there with arms crossed and a smug expression.
>This time you pulled into the drive-through.
>The two of you ordered the strongest and darkest coffee on the menu without sugar or milk and drove off.
>You had to wait a bit till the beverage was safe to drink.
>The entire time the Zoroark was smugly waiting for it to be proven right.
>It was time to smear that smug illusion away.
>You took one gulp of it, then another one, until the cup was empty.
>Your colleague who had to keep his eyes on the road was taking a swing of it every so often, but he too finished his coffee as well.
>Her smug expression disappeared for a while before returning again.
>"So. The two of you aren't reporting on transformed individuals then. Tell me how many you have encountered so far so you could make such a safe assumption about Pokemon and coffee. I'm curious," she said even more smugly.
>You fell into the trap you yourself set.

Few little proofreading things in this one, but otherwise, VetPhox's total inability to give even a single fucksicle is just... -chef's kiss- She very much puts the "so what?" in "I woke up as a Pokemon, so what?" Her story is kinda fertile ground for following how ordinary people get used to living with this phenomenon.

>>58317451
>>58317459
More than a few proofreading things here, but whilst it's not as deeply analytical as last time (probably owing to the fact that they've already gotten their baseline for interfacing with their powers established), I like that DigiGirl is learning the pleasures of being a psychic type while also getting the true Abra experience. Life is give and take - your Pokemon form still loves pizza on one hand, almost got trampled by snot-nosed kids on the other. Swings and roundabouts. Let's see if anything comes of this random alleyway or if they just teleport home after this.

>>58317840
"Hehmm, you like kissing Weaviles, don't you?" Why yes, yes I do.

Picrel distraction aside, Fedorark and the colleague both having valid points here is actually pretty funny. Slowing down the heretofore blistering pace of the plot progression bore fruit literally immediately.

>>58318714
Two perfect picrels in a row. You sir, through your efforts across these threads, have taken my random plotbunny and spun it into something truly legendary. Hats off to you.

Let that be a lesson to you, copanon - the government always wins in the end. Sad, but true. Looks like you're gonna have to mutually agree with her not to give away each other's secrets, but making such a deal with a spook is inevitably dangerous business. Maybe you can throw in your sage pokewhisperer advice for how she can better live as a Pokemon based on what you've experienced with Salazzle and Derek (never did give the Salazzle a name, did we?) so far to sweeten the deal.

>”Mom, when did this happen?”
>”About a week ago. We didn’t want to bother you, we know how hard you’re working. We just need some help figuring out groceries. Have you heard of this Instant Cart? Is it a scam?”

>"How to live and survive like... this?" she followed up.
>"Don't know, really. Maybe make some fake coffee with your illusions and pretend to drink it instead of the real thing? At some point the coffee thing might become common knowledge, so you could at least avoid getting caught that way," you said.
>"Any other tips you could give me?" she asked.
>"Not really. In terms of not getting caught in the first place, you should have an easy time. You can take human form, which is not something most Pokemon can do. If I were in your place, I would focus on fixing that lip-syncing of yours," you said.

>Damn, Ben's carrying some heavy stuff, huh?
I worry I overdid that a little. The stuff with his parents started as a way a way to justify why they weren't freaking out and calling him a hundred times a day, but I could have maybe come up with a less sad reason.
>We should all be so lucky that a girl like that would even exist in the real world.
I've got no way to signal this yet but that's just Ben's perception of the relationship. It's less pathetic than he thinks he is.
>Not sure why he can't cry
Yeah, that was me trying to mimic how real cats operate. That hunched over, tail-flicking pose is how cats actually express sadness (apparently) and I figured it'd could be another friction point between how Ben's head wants him to act and how his body wants him to act. Ben's had to do some un-Pokemon stuff (eating meat, for starters), but that did stand out to me as something I wouldn't do in a story that wasn't about someone fighting against their body.
>could probably stand to be made a little clearer
The actual connection to ProfD is more of an easter egg than anything. That scene is mostly the Pokemon mind trying to make sense of why Ben feels the way he does. Dropping out of college -> scary thing -> getting chased by a bird. I agree that scene is conveyed awkwardly, though
>Even more tragic possibility
That's darker than I'm willing to go, but that sounds compelling

>Plenty of young and old in beds already.
>Pets settling in, content with their after-dinner routines.
>A frustrated man working from home, and late into the evening.
>You nearly missed it.
>It wasn’t aura.
>It was the absence.
>Once noticed, you couldn’t unsee it.
>The void.
>A gap where there ought to be life.
>For a moment, you wondered if someone needed help.
>This was not someone having a heart-attack or a stroke.
>Their aura would be aflutter with the tones of distress.

>There was no color here.
>As if watered down paint swirled into a dark, drain.
>And your stalker stood at the center of it.
>An indecipherable, bubbling mass of wind-whipped tentacles.
>Parts of it formed and reformed, wisping away and reformed again.
>A pokémon.
>And after you.
>In better health, you’d turn the tables.
>Loop around. Get a clear view.
>You were not in good health.
>The toll of your injured paw and the day’s exertion noticeably slowed you.
>Hopping down, you took off in a slightly different direction.
>Leading whatever it was homeward was out of the question.
>Hopefully the believable deviation wouldn’t tip them off.
>Moving through the next neighborhood confirmed your suspicions.
>Something was, indeed following you.
>Perhaps it was chance, but you weren’t keen on rolling the dice yourself.
>You sprinted across a quiet street.
>Only light rain and your paws on wet concrete broke the silence.
>How was it following you?
>Maybe it had a far better nose.
>It’s how the houndoom operated.
>The rain wasn’t heavy enough to cover everything.
>You were jumping across rooftops like usual.
>Not unbelievable if anyone saw you.
>Surely some pokémon were incredibly observant.
>Did it have aura like you?
>Some other super-sight?
>Plenty of pokémon you weren’t familiar with out there.
>Grunting, you grabbed your hurt foot.
>You’d aggravated the burn sores again.
>Stepped on a thistle.
>You groaned, but powered through.
>Cutting through a line of trees, you looked back with aura.
>Still there.
>Distant, but too close for comfort.
>Were you refreshed, you could probably outrun this thing no problem.
>Not with this paw.
>Past this neighborhood was a series of apartment complexes.
>Each three stories tall.

>Assuming your pursuer wanted to stay low like you did, anyway.
>These apartments all had balconies.
>The first-floor ones led into a small concrete porch, but those higher ones interested you more.
>You might be trapping yourself doing this…
>Mid-jump, you opened yourself to the aura of everyone inside.
>The one you leapt to was occupied.
>You landed on the elevated deck, rattling the potted plants with a dull thud.
>By the time the grandma inside turned her head, you were already at the next one.
>An empty one.
>C’mon, God, make it easy…
>You pulled the slick handle, but it caught hard.
>Locked.
>The third story one above had a dog in it.
>No good.
>You threw yourself to the next in line, using your legs to kick off the metal guardrail.
>The rusted surface gave you a good grip.
>And unfortunately, this too was inaccessible.
>Barred with a wooden beam in the track to physically stop the sliding door.
>Smart.
>Paranoid for upper-floor living, but you couldn’t deny it stopped you.
>The third floor above, however…
>Cat inside.
>And only the feline.
>You could deal with that.
>Your pursuer drew closer.
>They’d be able to see you any second now.
>You shimmied up and yanked the handle.
“Hoh, thank God…” You muttered, stepping out of the rain and into the dark, unoccupied apartment.
>You touched nothing.
>You were absolutely breaking and entering.
>Breaking and entering in self-defense was still breaking and entering.
>Your wet paws tracked a little water on the gray carpet, which luckily masked any tracks.
>You quietly slid the door closed, locking it.
>The apartment was sparsely decorated.
>Small couch, a tiny dining table with two chairs, and a well-used game console and large TV to the side.
>Smelled like fast food and cat litter.
>If you had to guess, a bachelor lived here.
>You crept to the side of the door and hid.
>The cat, sleeping in another room, perked its head up.
>Hopefully, it stayed that way.

>Nimble and lithe, it crept up the building.
>You stayed perfectly still, out of the light and out of sight.
>Through the wall, you heard it.
>With aura, you saw it.
>As much as you could.
>A formless form.
>A biped.
>A changing, shifting, ethereal torso.
>Hands like knives.
>…
>Inexperienced.
>It wasn’t sure of its movements.
>It faltered on the final climb.
>A fear of heights, maybe?
>Recently turned?
>Daggers scraped the old metal railing and wooden balcony outside.
>You exhaled, and held your breath.
>It was watching.
>Peering in.
>A long shadow crept through the living room.
>Your muscles tensed.
>Talons raked the handle and gently tugged.
>Once.
>Twice.
>A third time.
>All stopped by the lock.
>Should it come to violence, you could tackle it.
>Send it crashing to the ground three floors below.
>A jingling down the hall startled you.
>You’d almost forgotten.
>The cat came to investigate.
>And it did not like what it saw.
>You didn’t either.
>The cat didn’t notice you in the dark.
>But it did see the dark silhouette of the intruder.
>Less than a foot from your head, it reached.
>A pallid, shaky hand scorned with wicked-sharp fingers and crimson buboes silently phased through the window.
>Poking at the lock.
>You readied yourself more.
>Once.
>Adrenaline coursed through you.
>Twice.
>One more second, and you’d snap it’s wrist like a twig.
>The second didn’t come.
>The cat arched its back, and cried, dashing away to hide in the bedroom.
>Enough to give the hunter cold feet.
>Panicking, the dirk-claws clattered against glass and metal, screeching as the ghostly arm withdrew.
>With more boldness, the thing left.
>To the second floor.
>To the ground floor, with a heavy thud.
>And off it ran.
>You inhaled deep.
>You’re with the cat on this one.
>You’ll wait a bit before leaving.

>I really ought to collate all the stories into pastebins for everybody. Maybe when I'm less exhausted.
I've said it before, but damn, people, at this point it's mandatory. If you're writing you gotta upload your story somewhere so people can read it start to current. It's the only way a newcomer can fully enjoy your story. Nobody wants to dig through multiple archived threads to get caught up.

Warning: Abra "speaks" in this one.
A dingy but relatively smell free alley, mostly musty.
Feeling safer I expand the psychic field to sense more, not much just the chatter of birds above, and mice hiding.
>Need food.
>FIND food.

Hello, primitive sounding, but intelligent thoughts.
Scanning immediate area.
My heart nearly leaped in joy seeing a curly gray and white tail with a shiny ring on its tail...

Oh my god a GATOMON!
I hovered toward proof it's not just pokemon.
So excited to see one of my favorites in real life I turn a corner around the trash bin to the rummaging gatomon, and just as I turn and face it, I see it.

And my hopes of a Digimon is dashed, it's not a Gatomon, it's a different colored meowth i could see its iconic shiny coin thing, it also had a shiny gum wrapper stuck to it's tail.

Oh well not a Gatomon.

How should I go about talking to it?

>Uh hello there meowth.
not sure if my thoughts would reach it, or like turn its to brain into pudding on accident.

It spun around claws bared.
>Danger is here.
>whoa whoa it's okay I am not going to hurt you. I splay out in as defenseless a pose I can while using gravity as a chew toy.
This seemed to calm it at least a little
>no hurt me?
>no I won't hurt you, just want to talk. I retorted back.
I could see it's eyes still scanning me it had a look of apprehension, but I could see it's bristle fur calm.
>Why no hurt me?
I needed to make sure I was clear to this simple pokemon.
>I don't need to hurt you, I don't want to.
This confused it but I guess it believed me.
>have food? smell food.
The meowth asked.
I must still smell like my lunch.
>no but, maybe I can help you find some.
It was unsure at first but I guess I was clear enough, it's hackles were gone and it's claws retreated.
>find food, thing help.
>Well okay, but I am not a thing, just call me Abra.
>Aaaab-ra it repeated.
>yes, follow the Abra, I cooed in its head
>Yes, follow Ab-ra, it parroted

I needed to know more about these guys so why not befriend one, it looked basically like a cat.
Heck I was pretty sure given it's almost caveman like thoughts, this fella WAS a normal cat.
Now forced into a familiar, yet I am sure strange body.

The feelings mutal, I guess.
As we round the alleyway, I recognize the location even though the normally small main street buildings at their tallest were 3 stories tall. Now they remind me of when i was a kid. Everything is just gigantic, overwhelming even.
But if this was 9th and Broadway, then that meant Floyd's Delicatessen would be a quick zip on over.

>Follow. I commanded the meowth again.
>Not safe, in light. I looked back, and I could see its ears folded back and hesitation in its thoughts.
>tall things hurt me, roar at me, throw things.

Poor thing. I guess Even when it was a stray cat people abused it, and now it's terrified of humans.
Probably humans would be afraid of it given the hysteria around pokemon being diseased or cause transformations or other such rot.

But it was right we needed to be careful, I know I'll try teleporting us.
>stay there I commanded
And I try reaching for it with my energy just reach with my psychic feild and try to touch his glowing form, but when I do my river of energy just passes around him like a stream around a rock.

What the... I double my effort this causes dust to be kicked around my field but once again it just bends around the creature.
The meowth was being obedient and standing still but was getting a bit annoyed having dust thrown at its face, it sat there blinking.
>Abra not do anything. It's thoughts stung my ego.

One more try really reach for it, but still my efforts were for naught. This time my psychic field blew away cans in the area like a blast of wind.
(I hate this character limit.) Also running out of Abra pics.

If I had actually influced the meowth given my forcefulness I might have blowed it over.
The noise of the scattering objects startled the meowth.
As it fled its mind shrieking danger.
Before I could call it back it had bounded as fast as it could on four legs down the alley and up a fence.

Awww come back meowth... I am sorry.
It didn't come back and I felt it's mind dissappear from my presence.

I sat down and kinda pouted.

Huh, why did that not work on the meowth, can I not influence living things or something? Maybe living aura block psychic powers? No that's not right, did the Abra Brain know?

And... nothing. I guess I will just have to figure out myself. Need to test on something alive.

You may be able to hide from the world with the convenient American dream property you own, Tinkanon, but you can't hide from the truth forever.

>>58320782
Bit on the nose incorporating my suggestion, but I like how Fedorark is basically playing on easy mode and doesn't know it yet. It's interesting how her instincts seem to just be those of a standard Zoroark and don't appear to incorporate the seething, bitter contempt H-Zoroark is stated to have for the living in PLA. Kinda makes sense, though, because she's lacking the trauma baggage an actual H-Zoroark would have.

>>58320986
Sad, sure, but also pretty commonplace and relatable. As for eating meat, that kinda depends on the continuity. Many Pokedex entries refer to them eating meat in the main series games, but nobody in Mystery Dungeon does.

>>58321243
>>58321294
I absolutely LOVE that due to being a ghost type (and more to the point one that is EXPLICITLY stated to be a dead being, which is not true of all ghost types), Fedorark appears as some horrifying abomination on aura sense, leading to this silent misunderstanding where protag thinks Fedorark is out for blood and Fedorark (probably) thinks protag has more to hide than he actually does. It's honestly pretty great.

>>58321306
Pretty sure the purple jelly-like substance of that line is more malleable than that.

>>58321252
We have multiple that aren't humanoid.
Litten, Abra, Starmie, Tinkaton, Noivern, (possibly a Purrlion) a damn cactus.
>>
>>58321580
Psychic types using their abilities to finally allow us to have full and actual conversations with animals, something humans have wished they could do since time immemorial, is a fun possibility I hadn't considered. Maybe that's something VetPhox would also be interested in.

>>58321588
>>58321591
Funny enough, there apparently actually did use to be a Floyd's Delicatessen here in Victoria. Pity she scared off her new friend, but I'm not honestly sure what DigiGirl was planning to do if they actually made it to the shop anyway. I don't think she's carrying any cash or card on her - maybe she was just gonna steal some meats?

We know any Pokemon with Teleport CAN bring others along with it, so it might just be a matter of practice or sciencing her abilities the right way. Maybe time to go full analytical again and really look into the matter deeply? I do enjoy that aspect of her character. Might also be because it was an Alolan Meowth, but I feel like dark types would still be fair game for teleportation. Maybe that's just me.

>>58321729
I'd say Abra and Tinkaton are pretty humanoid. Where was the Purrloin again?

>>58321741

It was cold out; the sort of cold that made one button up their coat one button higher. And yet, the neighbor's kid was still squirming about in the rain. Stubborn, is what I'd call their kid. Not to their parents' faces, of course, but I call a spade a spade, and if some other gardener overhears me, I won't bother listening to their trowel drivel. No, I'll be too busy staring stupidly at the kid neighbor.
Once, he was but a boy. He played in the mud, waved sticks around, and was fairly kind whenever Halloween came around; he always took one candy extra, for his baby sister. She's twelve now, and has to bring him his extra candy, but she remembers him dearly, as do their parents. Oh, the whole neighborhood remembers when the McMulligans' boy was a boy and not a two-foot long, writhing, finned, blue snake. No natural philosopher I or anyone else for that matter know of can explain what species of snake their sweet, little boy turned into some five years back.
Between his small size, lack of a voice beyond the occassional, "Ti!" he'll squeak when he's excited, and that white belly of his, every one of the McMulligans wants to keep him indoors. I told them there were no eagles this side of the Potomac, but they didn't listen; I suppose it's better that they care rather than they didn't. He's a wormy little bastard, though, and he'll find his way out of damn near anything. Maybe he just wants to feel the rain on his skin again.
I do think that he should stop glowing, though. He'll attract those eagles out East ol' Petunia's been worrying herself sick about.
