>Psychic type is the 5th most common type
>more common than Bug and just slightly less common than flying by 3 pokemon
>also a shit type that is outclassed by Poison nowadays
How did psychic type become such a generic shit typing? They used to be these cool magical type pokemon that was rare and mystical. But now your average alleycat has a psychic type and is as common as flying birds.
>>
>>58338988
But you posted fairy type
>>
>>58339004
Poor bait
>>
You do realize there are only 3 Ghost-types and Dragon-types in Gen1, right?
>>
>>58339054
So what?
>>
>>58339077
SO?! They’re more “mythical” than Psychic-types while the latter has tons of them in the first game!
>>
>>58338988
Psychic just means pretentious
>>
>>58339120
Fairy is the least common type so by that dumb logic, Fairy is the most mythical whatever.

I propose a solution, we need to rid society of Dark types for good.
They are dumb, violent and clearly only cause problems.

Cheer up, Psychic gets a lot of cool looking mons
>Gardevoir
>Delphox
>Metagross
>Elgyem
>Hatterene
>Mewtwo
>Lugia
and the list goes on. When I hear psychic I always associate it with good pokemon.

Okay, how would YOU buff Psychic type then if you're so smart?
>>
>>58339318
Returning Knock Off to the way it was before gen 6 and buffing some Psychic types with an ability that allows them to hit Dark types, Fighting and Normal types already have Scrappy and Fighting is a far better offensive type than Psychic.
>>
>>58338988
So did Dragon.
>>
>>58339318
Make psychic moves hit fairy for super effective. Creates a nice triangle with dark, fairy and psychic.
>>
>>58339318
Psychic types should be immune to confusion.
>>
>>58339341
>Psychic types should be immune to confusion.

Given how confusion got nerfed in Gen 7 (it's now a 1-in-3 chance to hit yourself instead of 50/50), that's not much of a buff.
>>
>>58338988
>They used to be these cool magical type pokemon that was rare and mystical.
Hypno is literally an "old fat bastard" jobbermon. What games were you playing?
>>
>>58339375
Gen 1 was 30 years ago There are 9 gens now you stupid tourist. Go back to /v/
>>
>>58339129
isnt ice the least common type

With Psychic being my favourite Type. I like how we have so many Psychic Type Pokémon, so many great well designed Pokémon for the Type. Mew being my favourite. I don't feel a Type being rare is good. If a Type is fitting for a Pokémon, it's fitting for the Pokémon, simple.
>>
>>58339339
This is the most logical solution. Psychic being more common isn't really a problem, but the fact that it went from being THE best type to a bottom tier one feels all kinds of wrong. Make Psychic a check into the new best type in the game and it feels like things could finally level out
>>
>Why is a type that is weak to bug not top tier, guys

Nigga wtf are you talking about even with this one?
But yes, Psychic type is kinda low on the type matchup chart though has good representation due to how many Psychic types get really strong abilities and moves
>>
>>58338988
>Gallade should've been Fairy/Fighting not
Psychic/Fighting, Gallade should've been the first not Iron Valiant
>>
>>58341119
No one in that line should be a Fairy.
>>
>>58338988
Psychic is only common because a huge chunk of them are Legendaries/Mythicals
>>
>>58341300
THEIR ELVES THOUGH
>>
>>58341520
No they aren’t.
>>
>>58341534
they're fucking elves anon.
>>
>>58338988
Jynx
Wobbuffet
Grumpig
Chimecho
Reuniclus
Meowstic
Espathra
Swoobat
Braviary
Indeedee
Metagross
Bronzong
Bruxish
Veluza
Scream Tail
Iron Leaves/Boulder/Crown

Why are these pokemon psychic? Their basic premise has nothing to do with psychicness or mysticism, they just tacked it on for game balance or flavor because they were too boring without it.
>>
>>58339318
make them immune to weather, knock off and entry hazards because they are fucking psychic types that can use fucking telekinesis. bitches could just move the entry hazard out of the way, and recall their items or keep them floating next to them
>>
No matter how much competitive shitter pretend it isn't the case, psychic took a huge hit in its identity and uniqueness as a type. Not only is fairy just better offensively and defensively, it also cannibalized the more "magical" pokémon. Pokémon being "magical" in general just feels wrong. Pokémon is a sci-fi setting at its core.
Fairy was a mistake, added only because pokémon has no soul anymore and cute things are highly marketable.
If any new type should have been added it should always have been light type.

Hell, fairy didn't even need to exist if Gen 1 just didn't make dragon overpowered.
I think dragon should have been weak to poison, and poison should have resisted dragon. It would have thematically made sense. That you cannot defeat a dragon by playing fair.
Or electric should have been the anti dragon type. But I assume game freak really liked the idea of dragons being masters of the elements or something.
>>
>>58341678
Dragon wasn’t overpowered in gen 1, 2, and 3
>>
>>58341682
Correct, but it was still an overpowered type. Which was always setting themselves up for a balancing nightmare. It only needed a couple of good moves and suddenly it's the best thing ever that is only countered by itself and like slightly weaker against 2 other types.

If dragon just had an actual meaningful disadvantage from the start it wouldn't have happened. Instead it was just a timebomb waiting to go off, and it required a ultra counter that is straight up immune to it to be balanced.
It doesn't even make any thematic sense for fairy to be immune to dragons. Magic is immune to dragon attacks??? Why and how? Does this have ANY cultural basis at all?

Fuck no, I like my Psybro exactly as he is thank you very much.
>>58341600
>Jynx
It's a mystic woman creature with strange powers.
>Wobbuffet
Fucking weirdo, but also because it's meant to be a play on a punching bag not being weak to Fighting-types.
>Grumpig
It's a play on "pearls of wisdom" and another saying relating to pigs I'm forgetting right now that also involved pearls.
>Reuniclus
A common trope in media is that psychically attuned races tend to have limbs atrophy over time due to the lack of use, Reuniclus is that taken to 11.
>Swoobat
A joke about sonar working sorta like how psychic powers are described.
>Meowstic
Cats have a ton of symbolism tied to warding and mysticism in several cultures from Egypt to Japan and several old European tales, it also has the 6th sense trope played up with the ear eye symbols it has.
>Hisuian Braviary
There are few cultures that DON'T associate eagles with the gods, otherworldly sight and dominance.
>Indeedee
It's an empathic imp.
>Metagross
Literally based on the antykatera, aka an ancient Greek computer meant to foretell stellar events, I mean come on dude, even without that knowledge it's not hard to see how an advanced supercomputer would be Steel/Psychic.
>Bronzong and Chimecho
Bells bear heavy association with mystic practices, divine rites and communication with the beyond, Bronzong also plays into the whole ancient divine artifact trope.
>Bruxish
Psychedelic colors and the joke that some fish are far smarter than we give them credit for.
>Veluza
Psychics being depicted as caring little for their own bodies due to the sheer power of their own minds, to the point they can survive as basically walking corpses, obviously gamefreak took a fish to show this because it is rather gruesome.
>Iron Leaves/Bolder/Crown
Supercomputer trope again, psychic powers tend to be attributed to futuristic things after all.
Also hard light weaponry across media is typically always associated with psychics in general.
>>
>>58338988
Fairy came into existence, which is better at doing Psychic's job than Psychic itself. Then they removed Pursuit and Ghost became the best type in the game.
>>
>>58342172
Small correction on my part, it's pronounced Antikythera rather than antykatera.
Also I have absolutely no idea as to why Scream Tail is Psychic type besides a play on "psychic noise", but that feels rather weak, Espathra was a Pokemon entirely designed around Tulip, at least that's what's most likely.
Also disturbing fact about ostriches, they're humanphiles, which probably translates to Espathra having some hmmm.....less than savory tastes......
>>58342190
Dark types have also been going on a tear as of recently, due to Knock Off and Sucker Punch being such stupidly retarded moves and very few things in the game resisting Dark as it is.
>>
>>58342220
Yeah, the steel nerf was too crazy. If steel still resisted dark things would be a lot better. As of now you have to use Fighting or Fairy types defensively which is stupid.
>>
>>58342220
Psychic mons were able to hang back when Sucker Punch was even stronger. There's no chance of them coming back into relevance with how strong Ghost has become along with good Bugs and Dark-types already existing.
