>>58346845Without going into any schizo head-canon bullshit, it's very probable that Sigiliyph and Alomomola were initially conceived as evolutions (for Unown and Luvdisc, respectively), but the developers ultimately decided to scrap the concept when Unova turned into a sort of self-contained soft reboot of Kanto's Pokedex.

Sigilyph was seemingly designed from the ground up as nazca lines without any other influence, and I think its similarities to unown could be complete coincidence. I mean, it's literally just black shape + single eye, nothing else is similar. I used to believe they were related, but I'm not convinced now. Alomomola could go either way. I could see it being designed in a vacuum, designed with luvdisc in mind as an evo, OR just designed with luvdisc as inspiration as homage. I think all are possible and reasonable. I think that if there were MORE prospective cross-gen evos it would have more weight. But we have more examples of intentional parody than of fathered-in design similarities, imo.
