>Kanto: Top 16
>Johto: Top 8
>Hoenn: Top 8
>Sinnoh: Top 4
>Unova: Top 8
>Kalos: Runner-Up
>Alola: Winner
>World Series: Winner

I hate to admit this, but Ash's championship record was actually pretty realistic.
>>
exactly so why did he lose to a snivy
>>
>>58367623
Ah sure, "realistic" record under unrealistic conditions and shitty writing. Do you faggots get off looking at the placements rather than the shit which gives those numbers any value?
>>
>>58367629
Zekrom fucked up Pikachu + the Unova anime trying to act as a soft reboot for Ash mentally (there are worse battles).
>>
>>58367623
Besides losing the 5v6 like a retard in Unova, sure.
Heck he could've still lost to the Eeveelution fucker and have his Eevee evolve to glaze up Sylveon.
>>
consisently making top 16 minimum is pretty goddamn good

>>58367629
he's at the mercy of idiotic writing
>>
>>58367623
Yeah, realistic, sure. A kid showing up with a team of mostly unevolved, first stage mons somehow managing to get in the top finalists in every major trainer's league where trainers from all over the country and world come?

No chance
>>
>>58367623
These numbers don't mean anything. Ash lost a close battle to the would-be winner of the Ever Grande Conference and then two conferences later he lost 4-6 to a retard who brought five mons and wasted two of those five by sending them out to die. He placed Top 8 both times but there's a clear difference. Also the number of participants in these things vary wildly. 256, 128, 64, 48, 16, it's inconsistent as fuck and that's not factoring in whenever there are qualifying rounds before the actual stadium matches.

I find it odd that they even consider the alola league official because its the equivalent of a backyard neighborhood tournament winner getting to participate in the Olympics. And ash suddenly being a high champion level trainer when he kept getting filtered out at the top10 in conferences which arent even elite four level seems inconsistent.

They just wanted to retire the character and did a make a wish by pitying him the most grand win they could before they put him down

>the alola league official because its the equivalent of a backyard neighborhood tournament
If it's formally part of the Pokemon League then it counts. We see that in characters like Goodshow who oversees all of the leagues. It was Alola's first competition but it was still official.
>when he kept getting filtered out at the top10 in conferences which arent even elite four level seems inconsistent.
If you ignore a lot of context, sure. He beat the Battle Frontier who are stated to be above the gym leader level and are put on a similar level to Agatha to my recollection, impressing even Paul who is a veteran trainer like Ash. He was then the only trainer in all of Sinnoh to defeat Tobias' Darkrai and went a step further by defeating his Latios. Which makes Ash the second strongest Non-E4 trainer in all of Sinnoh at the time. Then in XY we see him and Alain were neck and neck and ended in basically a coin flip. With Alain being depicted as defeating Malva, an Elite Four member, in a duel between their aces and being capable of keeping up with Steven.

Ash by the end of XY is pretty clearly meant to be an Elite Four-level trainer. Just as Alain is Elite Four-level. Then Sun and Moon took place with Ash continually training and competing with Tapu Koko, a legendary pokemon, leading up to his final battle against it. And while it's not explicitly stated in the anime, Kukui in the games was said to have participated in the Kanto League and was second only to Lance.

You might think Ash leaping from E4-level to Champion-level is still hard to believe but consider Flint defeating 2-3 of Cynthia's pokemon and she used Garchomp to take him down. Then consider Journeys is over nine months after SM (Burnet gets pregnant and gives birth between the two) and Ash had plenty of time to refine his abilities further.

In short, ignoring Unova, Ash was already nearing E4-level by the BF. Was firmly E4-level by the end of XY and was Champion-level by Journeys.

Ash doing a little better each year, adding more achievements to his record, was pretty soulful.
>>
>>58367623
Stop putting down his Orange Islands win, he was a 3-time champion not a 2-time. Drake's Dragonite still stands as the biggest dick Pokemon in the entire series, it would wear Tobias's entire team like a scarf
>>
>>58367629
Didn't Zekrom attack both? Brain damage if you want a different answer beyond the writing team still being mad about Tobias, but Gen V in general was weird, be it games, anime or manga
>>
>>58368218
Yeah, i didn't consider all of the context with his progression there desu. I underplayed the alola league because that region didn't have gyms as a requirement to enter so even a novice who just started could participate..but the top trainer in that league was still champion level. I didn't watch much either so I didn't know about details like ash training with legendaries or training in timeskips
>>
>>58367623
Doesn't the Orange League and Battle Frontier count?
>>
>>58367629
How did Pikachu take electrocute a Rhydon? How did Pikachu tank hits from then defeat a Tyranitar and Metagross in quick succession? How did it tie with a Latios? How did it take infinite hits from a Champion ace charizard and not faint? Retarded writers are the answer
>>
>>58367642
>zekrom fucked up pikachu
Was this ever explicitly confirmed or is it just fan cope?
>>
>>58367655
Ash doesn't exist outside writing.
>>58367623
That'd be great if we weren't watching a fiction.
>>
>>58367623
orange sisters we are forgotten
>>
>>58367623
Ash was such a shitter, it took them making him one of the biggest Gary Stus in Anime to be worth a shit
>>
>>58367623
Pretty impressive considering he's only been a trainer for two years
>>
>>58369110
It's cope but the reason it happened at all is because the early BW story was written around a new protagonist, but higher-ups forced the writers to use Ash instead despite having the episodes already written. We were actively debating back then if it was a reboot or not before Oak mentioned Tracey. GODtarja won but it may as well have not happened, they just ran with it because the powerscaling was already inconsistent as fuck and the audience realistically shouldn't care. And then doubled down by having Pikachu lose to Cress's Panpour.

In retrospect we were retarded about the reboot thing, rat was still using his Hoenn/Sinnoh moveset. We were still mindbroken from the Tobias curbstomp

>Ash was already nearing E4-level by the BF
Correct, but then Flint happened and made a lot of people believe that Ash was far from that level when Flint may as well be Champion-tier
