All of them from middlegame onwards but special cake goes to final Genesis Admin battle and E4 Ian because... they have 10% chance to freeze the game every turn.

Like the issue isn't my team. Dubwool with Iron Defence and ShieldStrike can cheese every single boss because of braindead AI. This is objectively the worst Pokemon fangame ever released and I'm shocked modern /vp/ recommended it to me, because in the past I got good recommendations here. Like in Pokemon Clover Dan Shneider was a postgame villain with funny execution.

In Pokemon Tourmaline your misunderstood rival is based off an actual serial killer and a faggot child molester according to the dev. That's not inherently terrible, like you could make it work like in Clover, but like... why, this game isn't a parody. Everything in this game doesn't make sense or breaks the longer you look at it.

This game fails at making actual difficulty, instead it has really low level caps and bosses instead of use 680 BST mons with 13 more levels than its allowed for player up to that point (I mean it, final boss has 3 Slowkings on level 73 when level cap is 60. These Slowkings have Huge Power, not Truant).

The dev even admitted to me (guess I'm doxxing myself) that evil team is based off competitive players except... he literally made a game with tideous puzzles and one only people into competitive can enjoy.

Hope you love pushing boulders for 10 minutes with a chance it despawns randomly? Machbike for 100cracked tiles straight?
Hope you doing ice puzzles except sometimes thawing rocks may result in battle letting you get stuck?
I counted roughly 45 individual instances of being able to softlock this game without even doing stuff like messing with trades or HMs.

I'm not even mad, I'm just baffled someone here really actually loves eating shit like this. This makes trash like Insurgance and Reborn look like HGSS.

cut them some slack, those two's flaws are mainly just from being old games being made by amateurs (though reborn can be actually pretty enjoyable if you use its built in password system to smooth out the more tedious aspects and tweak overall difficulty) before there was much knowledge on what is and isn't a good idea. i'm not gonna call them top tier but for what it's worth they're ok at least, and at the very least don't try to do obviously retarded things on purpose, unlike tourmaline which as your post states is deliberately awful and unlike what you're comparing it to, was made much later when there's been no excuse to include softlocks and statbrick spam "difficulty" for years

Can anyone help me with 2 problems I'm having with the pokeemerald disassembly? I'm making a simple every trainer double battle hack using the vanilla disassembly, the problem I'm having is that I can't figure out for shit how the expansion managed to fix and add wild double battles for the game, I'm reading the commits and looking at the code but I can't figure it out for shit.

Also I did manage to fix sending out pokemon a duplicate of your first mon when you don't have a another one by reading the code from the expansion, but I still having a problem with a second healthbox appearing, any way of making it not appear when you only have one mon in a double battle would help out a lot. thanks.

There are fan made sprites for everything, but not all of it is free to use. I'm currently weeding out the stuff I'm using that isn't free since I didn't care about that when I started this project. Yes, and no. It does and covers a lot, but not all packs cover everything. The thing is, there are 4 different syles of overworld sprites people want, RSE, FRLG, DPPT, and BW, I want to work with RES and am okay with mixing in FRLG, but that means I need to look for packs that use that style. There used to be a pack that had literally every trainer from every game ever made at the time in DPPT style, but that got taken down because the guy who put together the pack was a dumbass and didn't make sure that every sprite he used was free to use. It would be nice if everything was in once place, but sadly, that is not the case. I should double check but the only gen 3 sprite packs Eevee Expo has are the cast of RSE in FRLG style, and most of Sun/Moon's cast.

Also, some sprites don't even exist yet. For example, as far as I can tell, the only sprite for Arezu from PLA is in BW style, so that's no go unless I switch, but that would make it so that if there was a character only available in RES or DPPT style, I wouldn't be able to use it. Since I originally panned to rip romhacks for my privet build, I chose RSE/FREG.

The WInd1158 timeline is a little funky since he sometimes updated his older games to add story content related to his newer games.

I think the order is Victory Fire, Resolute, Nameless, then Mega power.

Nameless is really confusing since I think it was made after Mega Power, but it has a plot line about finding out the identity of The Shady that isn't resolved in the game, and The Shady is unmasked at the end Mega Power. Honestly, following the plot of Nameless in general is a difficult task at times.

Some sprite artists only do works specifically for the projects that they're assigned to do and often forbids from putting said works into public domain (like with Pokémon Insurgence with Zygarde). It makes sense as you want your Fangames to stand out; but also unfair as they hoard sprites of character they did not create.

The current hope is that once I put out a build on something like Pokecommunity (after I've scrubbed all the stolen content), I might get lucky enough to attract the attention of some people who would be willing to contribute. Of course, going down that path would mean losing a lot of the luxury of anonymity I currently have since that kind of thing normally would require a discord (I'm lazy and managing an alt would be too much work, so it would need to be my main.). Yes, I've stated my views on stealing from other fan games a few times, but what I'm working with is a whole different can of worms. This is taking from artists who only make sprite art for the sake of making art instead of making a game. Unlike fangames, these are people who haven't stolen anything at all. Before I was fine with using their stuff because this was a privet project for myself and some friends, but things have changed and now it is unjustifiable.

I've played some Smogon in the day but never seriously, I really enjoyed my time with this hack. Any person who plays Pokemon romhacks progably has good fundamentals, the game gives you good access to team building resources by the 5th and 6th gyms. The puzzles were brutal, but it felt rewarding figuring each one out. It's clear that the dev put a ton of time into crafting them, and I appreciate the effort. On replays I might just use guides if any are available though lmao.

Literally doesn't affect those puzzles at all bro. You just walk in the direction you were before the battle started and it proceeds as normal.

I'm really sorry you didn't enjoy your playthrough though anon. I enjoyed it in the past and wanted to let people know about it finishing, but I guess you didn't have a good experience. The game had a big bug fix patch drop today and I think there are still some issues, but the full game dropped only about a week ago now, it's not gonna be perfect. I think the game is very impressive as a full region hack made by essentially one guy since around Covid, it really feels like a full Pokemon experience to me.

I implore people here to try forming their own opinions though, instead of just listening to hearsay from me or the anon here.

Whatever I can find and have permission to use. Originally, I was planning on stealing them in mass for my own privet build, but since I'm making a public version, I can't do that. My options are limited because of this, but I'll hunt around and see what I find. Well, I don't see the Clover devs offering their stuff (I actually don't know who would have the authority to grant me that permission). But if that did happen, I would have to be... selective. Obviously, Finasoven or Jewipede are out of the question, but I think pokemon like Mozzamazel, Dowster, and Crystaking would be fine. Gardie's Adventure has been up on Pokecommunity for 4 years and on it's main page it advertises that it has some Clovermon in it as a selling point, so I don't think they would object to the less objectionable content being in there.

But this is all conjecture for events that probably won't even happen. I'm going to focus on making build 4 (the Pokecommunity one) and worry about things like that later. After all, there's a strong chance I'll put it out there, and no one will care.

I made my chages based on those commits, which fix the sending out a duplicate of your first mon during a double battle if you don't have any other one, the other fixes the safari zone not giving the player any actions and the party menu screen on doubles when you only have one mon.
I followed the better interface for a single mon during battle commit till the end but only ended up applying the party menu screen change, because during battle it was causing the healthboxes to glitch up something nasty.

Pic related: I just want the empty healthbox to not appear when I sound out only one mon.

For the wild double battles, I just been generally looking the files from the expansion and seeing/reading the changes to see what can I figure out

The problem is that if you pitch this to the broader Pokémon romhack community, you had to exclude Clover due to the offensive contents contained within it. Your best bet is to only include the already established mainline trainer teams (whose extensive info were already in bulbapedia) in the game, then you allow said community to include their own Teams that they used in their game.

The closest game with that ambition were Pokémon Re:Union, where Ultra Wormholes were used to tie all battles together.

However, you have to do research on both his pokemon nature and movesets. Also keep in mind that he always gave Pikachu in his party, so it would be off-canon to see him without it (unless you go the LGPE route and have Pikachu on his shoulder).

It's HGSS with GBA visuals and modernizations.
You get fairies, reusable tms, nature mints, exp all, hm removal, post-gen 3 crossgens, and some tweaked movepools, encounter tables, and maps.
You know how in the last few years everyone decided they wanted to make a qol hack of RSE & FRLG? Heart & Soul is in essence one of those, but instead of using an existing Gen 3 game they ported HGSS first.
How much you get out of it really depends on how much you like the Johto games themselves.
