Genuine question, no bait or anything. Which game do you think has the better story?Do you think BW resolution was disappointing?
>>58382056I never played SM but BW has the worst story of all the first 6 gens
>>58382056>Do you think BW resolution was disappointing?Considering they devote the entirety of the ending credits scene to this faggot who wasn't even the primary antagonist and was shown to be wrong about almost everything he believed in by the game itself, yes I was very much in disbelief in how they chose to conclude this travesty
SM hands down. I like gen 5 but anyone who thinks BW1 had a good story is 12, or played it when they were 12 and doesn't actually remember it.Wanting to fuck N doesn't make it a good story either but I respect it
>>58382070People keep posting this like it wasn't bait by the story itself. You get to see that a number of the Plasma members think they're legit white knighting for Pokemon during their in/post-battle dialogue and that's even expanded on in the sequels with the N loyalists.
>>58382056SM by far
>>58382156in other words the story lets you know its premise is complete bullshit and a pure waste of your time within the first 15 minutesyeah, that's the point of continuing to post that
>>58382056BW.SM had some nice moments, but BW really stood out to me in its story specifically.>Do you think BW resolution was disappointing? No? It was a basic clash between truth and ideals being manipulated into conflict by a selfish outside party that crashed out when they lost. It's not confusing. It's not pretentious. And it didn't have to threaten the end of the world to give the story stakes. I liked it.
Yawniebait thread
im probably biased because i played gen 7 before gen 5 but base sun and moon is 100% the best story to have come out of pokemon, usum ruined it by shoving necrozma into lusamines character wherever possible so they could pretend it was the better, updated game. they even removed sexy alien body hag nihilusamine
>>58382056SM has the better story. BW was a pretty wild ride, but looking back at it made me realize how stupid and cringy the whole plot was. SV surpasses them both however
>>58382056Scarlet/Violet and it isn't even close.
>>58383246>>58383338What’s so great about S/V?
>>58383406Have you played the main story and DLC? I don't want to spoil. Mostly comes down to incredibly well done and believable characterization, character arcs and the game freak writing team going places they've never gone before. Also juicy self insert bait and the best music in the series for the big story beats.
>>58383482No, I haven’t played a new Pokemon game since Sun and Moon
>>58383482PFAAHAHAHAAHAHAplay/read/watch anything else than pokemon omfg
>>58382056sun and moon has the better story in isolation. if BW and SM were movies SM would be the better one. but in the context of being a video game, SM’s story fucks up on a fundamental level because it fails to incorporate what the player is doing and wants to do. the player is always a passive observer to whatever Lillie or Hau or Gladion is doing, only stepping in to do battles for them. it feels like an obligation.BW’s story is clumsy and you spend a lot of time listening to other characters talk, but you are undeniably a part of it. your goal of becoming the league champion is tied to team plasma by turning it into a race for the league, which makes for an extremely effective climax. it’s designed with the player in mind. so I would say BW has the better story.
>>58382056I like both, but I'd say Black/White. Sun/Moon has far too many characters like Plumeria or Gladion that don't get enough time in the story to do anything. Not to mention that the Pokémon League story and the Ultra Beast story feel like two separate stories that were mashed together. Nobody even cares that Lusamine summons a bunch of aliens to try to destroy the region after the cutscene where it happens.
>>58382056BW. Not because it’s good, but because SM’s story is somehow even more obtrusive than Gen 5’s
>>58384207makes sense
>>58382056SV>SV>BW>the restSS was especially disappointing because the beginning with the mist forest and the dogs was good. But then the final fight was disappointing . I do like Calyrex backstory though
>>58382056BW only by a slim margin. SM is great, but in a pokemon game, I think it's actually better for the story to heavily involve pokemon. SM does involve them quite a bit and the totem fights were a nice direction (and even as USUM is worse storywise, it's the closest we've gotten to a pokemon itself being the main driver of conflict rather than an evil team). BW sorta took a look at the pokemon world as a whole, what makes it a unique franchise, and asked a somewhat intruiging question about pokemon liberation and humans imposing their wills over pokemon. I don't think it does it more than an amateur's attempt getting deep, but I like that it tried. The continuation of the story in the sequels was an absolute joy and seeing the fractured team plasma added a bit more depth. Overall I think pokemon stories do best the more they have pokemon and the concept of pokemon at the center instead of the pokemon (outside of legendaries) mainly being gameplay mechanics that hardly interact with the story. RBY didn't try and that's ok. GSC tried a little and it was fine. RSE was awful. DPP was awful. XY was awful. SS was awful. SV was a little too human centric for my tastes, but alright.
