>the entirety of the city basic structure is ONE single model
what the fuck
>>
>>58394036
Small multi billion dollar company, please understand
>>
>>58394036
They realized they can make overworlds properly so they went with this direction
>>
>>58394036
ˢᵐᵃˡˡ inᵈiᵃn ᶜᵒᵐᵖᵃnʸ ᵖˡᵉᵃˢᵉ ᵘnᵈᵉʳˢᵗᵃnᵈ
>>
>>58394036
Why we actin all surprised when we already know they can't properly develop a game at GF
>>
this is like the ocean at blueberry academy stretching for hundreds of miles. seriously what the fuck is going on at gamefreak
>>
That explains the garbage geometry for the buildings
>>
>>58394036
um....

optimization!
>>
>>58394095
That's literally unoptimized. That means parts of the city you are nowhere near are fully loaded for no reason.
>>
>>58394146
That is not what it means smartypants, you can still load in parts and obfuscate the rest
>>
>>58394164
Textures maybe. This makes LOD models impossible.
>>
>>58394036
Is this a good or bad thing?
>>
>>58394214
You should have become completely apathetic to this at least 5 years ago.
>>
>>58394214
Bad because optimization is all about loading chunks of data you use and discarding those that you don't, this is just one big piece of shit model that is always there at all times. If you buy or even so much as play these games, you are worthless niggercattle
>>
>>58394214
The buildings looks like shit in the final product for this reason
>>
>>58394214
bad because it forces the city's buildings/roads/literally everything that isn't a prop to look like the textures are compressed because they're stretched out over a huge object, while also limiting how detailed the actual geometry can be, as opposed to the sane method of having buildings be separate objects that can be easily occluded when not required to be displayed onscreen, allowing for much higher detail as well
>>
>>58394214
>a good or bad thing?
It's made by GameFreak, take a guess
>>
GameFreak still don't know how to do LoD?
>>
>>58394036
I thought this was dumb at first, but this model has really grown on me.
>>
>>58394036
forcefully take pokemon away from gamefreak
holy shit
>>
>>58394214
Games should load only what's visible to the player (or affects them in some way), anything else is useless and puts an unnecessary strain on the system
>>
>>58394036
Since you can get on rooftops and view the entire city from above, this is actually necessary, everything is low-poly enough that you cant LOD it down any further, and you need SOME sort of LOD for the distant buildings.
Obviously the mistake here is that the buildings dont get more details attached as you get closer to them, but again, reality is this doesnt matter as much as people might think because there's no control over sight lines so no reason to unload parts of this.
>>
Why is the city smaller than San Andres?
>>
>>58394623
Small indie company.
>>
>>58394623
Shhhhhhh
>>
>>58394616
Could be plain bullshit but I read that they used a new shading system to optimize for VRAM? Hard to imagine they did that and missed something as obvious as the yanderedevs in this thread suggest.
>>
>>58394616
you have absolutely no fucking clue what you are talking about
>>
>>58394623
The small size will grow on you.
>>
>>58394214
With good optimization (so not in this case), it could be a good thing to avoid glitches.
>>
>>58394819
Hi, joe!
>>
>>58394616
I agree a large view of the city is necessary, but that doesn't mean they had to render ALL at once.
Modern games render only what the camera shows, quickly loading the missing models/assets whenever the camera is moved.
>>
>>58394036
do we even know if this is actually the model used for rendering the actual game
it could be a collision mesh or a cutscene model (like for the initial opening cutscene)
>>
>>58394036
This seems retarded.
>>
>>58394036
Hold on: is this the actual city in the game, or is this what's used in something like the final fight in the game that takes place in air above the city?
It's reasonable if it's the latter
>>
>retards learn what LOD is
it’s always fucking embarrassing when pokemon fans try to criticize GF’s programming. Just stick to complaining about the graphics.

I can't help but laugh, this is garten of banban levels of stupidity
>>
>>58394616
Yeah we all know Elden Ring loads the entire map instead of you know dividing the low poly models into chunks accordingly to your field of view
>>
>>58395456
Elden Ring’s map is far, far, far bigger than the city you absolute dumbfuck.

If there was a point in the game where you can view the entire map then yes you would need to model a low poly version of the entire map.

You lost btw

I just don't understand why the Switch 2 Edition couldn't have this as a selling point, I'll just assume laziness, they even had almost a year extra time to do it too
>>
>>58395949
Jesus did they just spam subdivide in Blender
>>
>>58394036
It's incredible how retarded Gamefreak is.
>>
>>58395439
Honestly should have held off on announcing Z-A so soon and released it as a Switch 2 exclusive if the Switch was going to be such a burden
>>
>>58396013
Even if it were built for the Switch 2 to begin with, it'd still have been a mess.

We'll be able to see the results of their Switch 2 dev anyways in like a year when Gen X comes out.
>>
>>58395439
>the game was made worse so that idiots wouldn't go on a tirade about having to buy a switch 2
>they would have bought a bundle with the console+game it anyway because pokemon fans are drones at the end of the day
game freak truly always takes the worst decision out of a possible two huh
>>
>>58396293
>they would have bought a bundle with the console+game it anyway because pokemon fans are drones at the end of the day
That would have been me.
I probably would have been 15% more likely to buy a Switch 2 if they released some Switch 2-Legends Z-A bundle, especially if it were a gimmicky limited edition Switch 2 that had some Zygarde pattern on it or anything better than the drab regular Switch 2.

pretty sure this is just the 3d model of the mini-map or something
