Sina/Dexio's role in the game were supposed to be the Steel and Ice Gym Leaders you recruited for your post-game Gym, them studying Zygarde feels like a way to justify their inclusion after scrapping that mechanic, or maybe it was always intended, there isn't much listed for them in the SM biosZ-Moves in general felt like they were taking the piss out of Pokemon Z never happening. It's a weird gaslight where they kept making references to Z and then suddenly stopped as soon as we realized we were in a brand new generation altogether. If anything I'm surprised there's zero mention of Magearna in this game
