Champions is going to cycle gimmicks.Some gimmicks can actually play nicely together, like tera or Z moves, while Dynamax will be impossible to balance in order to play nice.
Megas are the only thing that really made it to Pokemon Go that made sense as well. The Dynamax stuff is kind of an optional sidequest, but Megas are used basically in every aspect: battling, catching, team rocket. Dynamax just seems like a candy sink.

With how many mega evolutions they've created in Z-A and the upcoming DLC it makes me think that it'll be a long time until we see more new megas again.
