I'm a bit mixed on this. Johto is my favorite region and Crystal is my favorite game, but Ho-oh and Lugia are perfect as-is, and I wouldn't want to see a tacky new form, especially after Origin Dialga and Palkia.

Conceptually, I think a Johto game set in the past would be awesome. (Same with Unova.) There's potential to be explored there. But like some other anons here said, I'd be afraid to see what they might do to Pokémon like Ho-Oh, Lugia, the beast trio, etc. so maybe scrapping it might've been for the best.
