It's pissing me off that they see these regions as just windowdressing that can be interchanged though. especially when a lot of the appeal of the series is these fictional locales themselves. makes it feel like they're shitting on it and not prioritising it. Combine that with newer regions feeling shallow and theme park-y in general like Galar and Paldea in various regards and I get people who complain about GF's approach to regions these days

I think the reason they opted to make new areas for the player to visit is because they knew players would be upset if they were locked into certain areas of the revisited region.
