I know for a fact you didn't because my son was 6 when Shield came out it was the first Pokemon game he owned. He got bored and didn't finish it. I gave him my old DS and Platinum to play before that to see if he was ready for a Switch Lite; could he actually take care of it and not break it, etc. He loved Platinum and beat it with only a little help from me.
