>>58401196The original purpose of the "weapon" was to bring back the dead/immortality. AZ turned it into a weapon to end the war afterwards. AZ took the key for it and fucked off. Lys most likely built it thinking it was the weapon, but really just built the immortality device without realizing it. So him and any other members that were in the base got hit at point blank with his desperation blast. I think its safe to say that the other Flare characters that show up with faded hair colors are the ones that were at the base and now have immortality or extended lives.

>>58400913I know it's easy to interpret this nigga as hitler for the memes, but even in XY his sense of justice was described as him wanting to get rid of people who don't contibute to society(kinda like Light Yagami minus the narcissism). Plus, ZA intetprets Team Flare's goal as trying to build an utilitarian utopia. One of their concerns was stated to be overpopulation and scarcity, and they planned to use the ultimate weapon to prevent fighting over resources by using it to cull the population.In short, Lys was a misguided guy with good inentions that went FULL RETARD. The former Team Flare guys from ZA even go on about their ideals of helping society and shiet. That said, it is pretty hard to swallow this new intepratation when a bunch of Flare grunts had dialogue about what shallow, materialistic, social-climbing scumbags they where. And Lysandre even had that rant where he cries about his plan needing Pokemon to stop existing so yeah, there are definitely retcons involved. I think back in XY they had conflicting ideas on what Team Flare was meant to be. Cuz the portrayals of the other members of Flare contrast with Lysandre himself, and even then Lysandre himself also had inconsistent characterization, with his first scene being about his commitment to helping others and his resentment for those he believes only take and don't give, and then the next time you see him he has that creepy scene with Diantha where he goes on about how beautiful she was when she was a little girl and how he wishes everything would stay beautiful forever and never age, which seems like a more shallow and matetialistic view rather than high ideals. I appreciate that they tried to take feedback on what XY did wrong story wise though.
