Do you prefer singles or doubles battles?
>>
always doubles
>>
>>58403738
>do you prefer made up fanfic format or official
What kind of retarded question is this?
>>
I prefer singles but I wish there were more single player games with doubles.
>>
>>58403738
Gen 3 OU singles.
>>
>>58403738
Singles, because at least my boys can do something without me needing to put top tier mons I probably don’t like to carry them
>>
>>58403738
Doubles are more fun
>>
Singles precludes so many strategies, feels very limited.
>>
Singles is more fun and doesn't make me look at masuda's ugly furry oc
>>
Personally I prefer Rotation
>>
>>58403738
doubles are too basic for me. Switching is where all the fun mindgames happen and you barely ever switch in doubles. It's just guessing if someone will protect/follow me or not.
>>
>>58403738
Singles > Triples > Doubles > Rotation > Inverse > Sky Battles
>>
>>58403801
Singles has many more viable strategies, though. You'll never see a Shell Smash Sweeper or a fat wall in Doubles. You never see entry hazards or Voltturn teams or Hex Hyper Offense or ... etc etc.
>>
3v3 singles > doubles >>>>> fanficshit singles
>>
>Do you prefer 100+ turns of stalling
>Or matches that won't drain your lifeforce.

Smogon Doubles OU is the best of both worlds
>>
Verlisify and Yawnfag have ruined any discussion of competitive Pokemon.

Exactly. Instead of spending time actually discussing comp, 2/3rds of the thread is just trying to explain to one retard why banning evasion and OHKO moves is a good thing and why Ice is the worst type. It drives away anyone who is curious about competitive and Yawnfag never actually admits he's wrong.
>>
>>58404017
>and Yawnfag never actually admits he's wrong.
Why would someone admit that they’re wrong when they’re right?
>>
>>58403738
No Pokemon game even has real pvp double battles. They all make you control both Pokemon instead of pairing you with someone else.
>>
>>58403801
It precludes exactly 2 strategies, which is follow me/rage power redirection while another mon sets up, or instruct/after you/helping hand support for an attacker. Everything else is singles strats but with spread moves. Meanwhile nearly half of singles strats are unviable in doubles.
>>
>>58403738
Doubles. Once you learn doubles you can't go back to singles, it just feels too simple and limited.
>>
>>58403738
I prefer doubles, but they have to make more double battles ingame.
>>
>>58404520
Ideally it would be a setting in Options, Singles or Doubles, and you could play the entire game how you wanted. I'd settle for the Indigo Disc DLC, though, and just let wild battles be singles and trainers be doubles.
>>
>>58403738
Doubles > Singles
Joey > Wolfe
>>
>>58404111
Fake out is much less useful, note I'm not saying useless.
You're also ignoring the ability to do things in 1 turn rather than wasting turns switching. eg: ready blizzard with mon on left, switch in abomasnow on the right.
Doubles has far more tools and strategies available. At any given time in a doubles battle, you have more options period.

Mewing vs NoMew
>>
>>58404767
>just let wild battles be singles and trainers be doubles
That's the ideal. I hate romhacks where wild encounters are also doubles, it's annoying.
>>
>>58404798
Choice specs take
>>
>>58404808
Mew is allowed in VGC online, so actually doubles is YES Mew
>>
>>58403738
Singles
>>
>>58403738
I don't care, battles aren't really what I play Pokemon for.
>>
>>58403738
I prefer to play singles, but to watch doubles.
Which I guess makes sense. Singles is run by players who play the format and want it to be as fun as possible when they play it, while doubles is run by a company that wants battles to be entertaining to an audience.
>>
>>58403738
I think singles is cooler and more genuine as the "original" version since it was like that in gen 1/2 and most of the media but doubles incorporates a lot more strategy and variables to account for. I prefer singles but I'm better at doubles and play that competitively. I also much prefer Smogon to the BSS on cart.
>>58403966
>You'll never see a Shell Smash Sweeper or a fat wall in Doubles. You never see entry hazards or Voltturn teams or Hex Hyper Offense
You are very low elo/rank.
>>
>>58403996
Everyone calls him an annoying faggot, but no one ever calls Verlisify wrong about cheaters
>>
>>58406349
He is wrong about cheaters.
>>
I prefer doubles. Singles is a lost cause imo.
>>
>>58405653
huh, i'm kinda the other way around. the sheer amount of desicions i have to make with doubles is more engaging. watching a singles game allows me to better simulate what i think is going through the heads of each player, since there are less desicions. this is amplified with stall strategies as they can be annoying to play with and against. but (after it's already over and i'm watching the replay) seeing how the stall player tries to maintain composure while the balance player tries to make a hole in their core is delightful, especially when you're anticipating a critical hit, miss, or low chance effect to shake things up. singles is more like chess i think.
>>
>>58406349
You fuck with the wulfpack and you’re asking for trouble..
>>
>>58404041
Why would you try to defend yourself when the rest of the world already hates you? Killing yourself is unironically easier when you build a rep being a scapegoat
>>
>>58403971
An average VGC game in SWSH was as long as an average stall match in Showdown
>>
>>58407904
SWSH was 20 years ago.
>>
>>58403738
Doubles is the textbook definition of a forced meta. If it was actually better, people would have gravitated towards it instead of singles in the late 00s/early 10s when Shoddy Battle and Pokemon Online were the main simulators and Smogon wasn't as entrenched, but they didn't. The overwhelming majority wanted to play Singles.
>>
>>58408140
Singles bled players for years bud, Gen 8 made sure of that. VGC has grown substantially since SV's release, tournaments that use to only get maybe 60 entrants are now getting 600+.
>>
>>58408140
gr8 b8 m8 i r8 it 8/8
>>
>>58403738
I like both, but I prefer Singles, particularly BSS. The bring 6 pick 3 format allows for interesting team building options, like having dedicated-but-less-used checks, and the smaller team size in battle stops shit like Baton Pass or Last Respects from being absurdly broken and needing tons of fan made regulations.
>>
Doubles is the official format purely for time reasons. Games go faster in doubles so it's easier to run a tournament. There's nothing inherently more strategic about doubles.
>>
>>58408454
It is more strategic and you just don't understand it.
>>
>>58403738
Singles for random ladder battles

Doubles is definitely the best conceptually, but I’m biased due to how much time I put into Colosseum and XD
