I think it would have been a little better paced if you did the first three rogue Megas (Slowbro/Camerupt/Victreebel) before you get the promotion skip to feel more like you earned it but it's whatever

On the other hand, it would probably take way too much grinding to reasonably reach the higher ranks on your own.
