Most artists are volatile, they'd end up negotiating different prices/requests and if the artist suddenly goes menhera on twitter about some sensitive topics you end up with some negative association and bad PR.Inhouse designers or contract workers are easier to tard-wrangle.They would need to figure out a proper pipeline if they really wanted to engage fan design contributions, or just hire better art directors and designers.
