After you laugh at a franchise for almost a decade, it starts getting less funny and more sad because of the pitiful position fans put themselves in. For them, it is just perpetual disappointment that they actively choose at every opportunity. They just keep falling for it, over and over, it's like seeing a gambling addict have a chance to get their shit together and escape their problems, but choose to keep gambling anyway, or watching a society being destroyed from the stupidity of its people.

If mediocrity is what you want, mediocrity is what you'll get. If they could get away with only doing the minimum (or even less), why would they do anything more?

This is the most depressing release there has ever been for Pokémon.

>the obvious paid reviews
>the abysmal user score
>the sad state of the game itself
>the unremarkable gameplay loop
>the lack of artistic vision, creativity or even dedication

Pokémon used to be great. We had games where:

>major side activities such as the Pokéathlon, contests, battle frontier, pokéball making existed
>exploration was in-depth and dynamic, some of Pokémon games had extra and varying paths to explore depending on time of the year / hour, very nicely tied to the game progression
>there used to be Pokémon Abilities, speed stat used to matter for something, there used to be double battles, triple battles, rotation battles
>there used to be these extravagant super Pokémon games like the Stadium 1/2, or these darker RPGs like Colosseum, or these full-on battle simulators with unique animations for near 700 Pokémon (like Battle Revolution, where the graphics are still better than ZA)

Pokémon was good at one point in its history. It never achieved its full potential (which would frankly require Genius Sorority, Hal Labs, or any competent dev to take over), but it was good. Formulaic, but good.

ZA is formulaic, but bad. The entire game looks like it could have been randomly generated.

I like how you snuck Colosseum in there to pretend it's good. Bravo.

This can't be real.

The motherfuckers did not even generate their own pngs that they used for texture everywhere, they had stable diffusion do it.

Jesus Christ.

I was feeling suicidal yesterday because I could not play the game for even 3 hours and wanted to off myself for spending 470 dollars (bought Switch 2 + game) on it but my mom took the gun away
