I refuse to pick Totodile because his final evolution has a butchered name. It's Feraligator, that's what they intended, but GB text limits forced them to remove a letter when displaying it ingame. The problem is that unlike the other Water starters, Feraligatr doesn’t have a theme. Blastoise is like a firefighter that shoots water out of its cannons; Empoleon is an emperor; Primarina is a singer; Inteleon is a secret agent with biological gadgets, etc. Feraligatr is just a generic alligator that bites stuff and that’s it. There’s nothing that makes it stand out. They had the chance to make a proper final evolution for Totodile back in Gen 2 by building off of Croconaw’s caveman motif, but instead we just got “Totodile but bigger”. It’s no wonder they couldn’t come up with a good mega design when the Pokemon itself is one big mistake.
