Even when it came to gift mons and item rewards like Exp Candy. They were there but you actually had to earn them and the game doesn't just throw L and XL candies at you like past games have.

I feel like the EXP scaling feels backwards.I swear my higher leveled mons are leveling up faster than my low leveled ones. with how easy it is to get overlevelled if you dont swap out party members (my starter was like 59 before I benched him whereas the rest of my team is 50), I feel like they could have been more aggressive in the EXP scaling vs opponent level, so early level pokemon level up a lot quicker so you can have them join your party without having to box half your team to prevent them from gaining 10 levels in the process.

Once you reach this point you're free to roam around within the limitations of lacking the glide or getting to the sewers but those are minor movement restrictions. I'd also advice you to do side quests as they unlock because that's the way to get some held items or gift pokemon earlier than otherwise available.

Just finished the main campaign without mega evolving (outside the 2 times you're forced to), it's more fun not having an instant win button but most of the game was still piss easy.I want to enjoy the new battle mechanics but it's way too unbalanced. Anything that isn't a wall or at least bulky (or is fast enough to dodge everything) will immediately die especially in the late game, and it doesn't help that healing/status got nerfed into the ground. Starmie was my ace until rank B when it routinely died after 2 hits, by the end I only kept it because Surf hits basically everything. Also when do I get to catch Zygarde after the credits he fucked off and I can't find him

Just beat the game after avoiding /vp/ for the past month to completely avoid spoilers. It was... Fine. The combat is pretty fun till B rank and by then I was shitting on everyone with mega heracross and ttar. The final fight was fun as a massive kaiju/mecha fag but mechanically it was really fucking bad. Music is the worst in the series and after googling the guy who did it it makes sense. The post game is modern pokemon tier which wasn't a surprise but still a shame. I've come to the conclusion that HP is a better stat even for attackers in this game.Best to go 252 HP / 252 your attacking stat, speed does have a noticeable impact but the reason it's not as good is that your cooldowns instantly reset when you KO something, which devalues it a lot.

You can imagine other large cities in the world being similar, like Celadon city probably has some Pokemon hanging around in the alleys and on the rooftops and such. But of course the games can only really show so much. We already have a laundry list of games that tackle the question of "what are Pokemon like in the wilderness" but Pokemon are represented as being more than just animals, so it makes sense that they'd also find their niches within cities. If you're into worldbuilding, this should be right up your alley for exploring a yet to be touched part of the Pokemon world. Though I will say I'm disappointed that all the buildings and architecture is so fucking copy pasted. I'll chalk it up to Gamefreak just sucking ass at optimization and doing anything like a Yakuza/GTA fully fleshed out city would have made the Switch explode. But we all know GF just sucks ass in general. Very ambitious, but at the very least I can see what they were going for and accept that it's their best shot at executing it.

If I was in charge of the series I would make a game about exploration, uncovering mysteries and beating bad guys. It would be about ecology and man’s relationship with technology, nature and Pokemon. It would have the tone of a studio ghibli film. I would make a Pokemon game and not derivative high school drama persona trash.

PLA was a giant reference to DPPt and basically recap how things got to the way they were before DPPt, obviously assuming the following century+ was largely uneventful for our purposes, aside from growth and development until Cyrus came along. The final trainer battle on its own was better than the individual events near the end of PLZA. But PLZA's overall end sequence, while it was a little challenged in the writing at some parts, event wise was probably one of the best end sequences of any Pokemon game. It wasn't like most of them where you stop the bad thing from happening before it really kicks off, or Hoenn were you step outside and see a little bit of rain or sunshine but you never see the consequences of it start to take place. PLA had the sky turn purple and maybe some extra alphas or some shit? Idk.This time we actually see the calamity take place, and we actually see all the other characters get off their asses and pitch in, even though in very silly ways for comic relief. And after all this time they finally were able to use the naming scheme of the original games as a plot point with its own theme that was represented in the conclusion of the game.Idk man, obviously it was silly but all of these games are. I liked it.
