Why is Pokémon suddenly doing pro-Yakuza propaganda?
We're meant to believe that Corbeau and Team and the Rust Syndicate are good guys who protect the people of Lumiose who are in trouble. But these guys are fucking loan sharks that scammed a dumb teenager by giving them a loan with a 1000% interest rate, meaning they probably pull this shit all the time, how many people have they ruined? You can't claim the gangsters are good guys if you show them doing evil things to finance their activities. But it's OK though, because they forgive your debt after you do a bunch of jobs for them!
In previous Pokémon games, criminals were criminals, we fought them and they were either arrested, left town because they were defeated, or gave up their criminal ways. The Rust Syndicate are criminals who never stop being criminals yet we're expected to see them as sympathetic and we make no effort to bust their asses? Fuck off.
Also, having a Yakuza group in what is supposed to be Paris feels really out of place.
>>
They made the terms very clear, they were kind enough to give out a hefty loan to begin with
>>
>>58468253
1. You took out a loan
2. Pay it back
>>
>>58468253
Loans are a legitimate business. Just fuck off if you're too stupid to read contracts.
>>
>>58468253
Would the contract even be enforceable? Teenagers can't legally sign contracts without the express permission of their parents.
>>
>>58468262
>>58468266
>>58468271
They took advantage of a dumb teenager. You just know they're pulling this shit with desperate old people too, the favorite target of loan sharks.

What parents lmao
>>
>>58468290
well that just makes them look even worse if they've got eyes and ears everywhere...
>>
>>58468276
Children receive full human rights at the age of 11 in the Pokemon game canon.
If teenagers can legally sign contracts in the Pokemon world, then they can consent to sex with adults too.
Pokemon really is the perfect fantasy world for adults to take advantage of children, isn't it?
>>
>>58468253
It also just feels off to introduce a villain (but not really) team so you can fuck around for 20 minutes then never see them again
feels like they could have introduce them earlier on and make all the sidequests jobs for the syndicate, the over arcing rewards of doing enough side mission is it pays off the original loan instead of the cop out moment we get
>>
>>58468253
How illiterate are you? He forces those ridiculous interests on people so he can rope them into doing favours for him that help the city, and then voids the debt. That's literally what he does in the game. He even pays Urbain's entire original loan out of his own pocket once he saw how much of a hard worker he is with a "tip".
That's his whole shtick. He pretends to be a scary mafia boss, but he uses this to intimidate and force people to do nice things.
>Also, having a Yakuza group in what is supposed to be Paris feels really out of place.
It's a Japanese game. It wants to appeal to its Japanese audience. The rest of the world is secondary. Don't believe /vp/ schizos who spout nonsense about how they pander to the woke west now or whatever the fuck. They don't. The games are and will always be Japanese at their very core.
>>
>>58468318
Even the marketing made them look to be a bigger deal.
>>
>>58468253
>paint the yakuza in a bad light
>end up on the evening news
>>
>>58468321
he's clear the debt of the main characters fuck buddy because you're the main character and extremely epic at everything
there's no evidence any one else is getting the protagonist loan special
>>
>>58468266
>>58468262
Usury is illegal in every first world country
>>
>>58468253
The same game left Lyssandre free after all the messy things he has done
>>
>>58468262
he literally manipulated her by saying the loan was a favour after she helped him
>>
>>58468287
>completely shaved
Corbeau would absolutely be a jungle explorer
>>
>>58468253
I'm also quite annoyed at the pro-corporate propaganda. The billionaire CEO is the good guy, and you actually help beat some protestors with legitimate grievances in a Pokémon battle so they'll leave the poor corporation alone, notably with the help of the Yakuza...
>>
>>58468262
It wasn't a hefty loan, you have to remember that the currency is based on Yen, not dollars. They loaned the kid like 100 dollars, but with interest they have to pay back 10,000 bucks after one week, which is a very hefty interest. That is in no way kind or reasonable.
>>
>>58468340
Team Rocket were constantly depicted in a bad light.
>>
>>58468262
>>58468266
This is retarded because the interest print was so small it was illegible until VERY close inspection, also 100,000 yen only like 1000 dollars, while 1 million is around 10,000 dollars. And not to mention that this $9000 interest accrued within what, a week or so? I doubt they accurately explained the extremely high interest rate either and just said "you'll have to pay us back quickly" or some shit.

>>58468276
Even if it was legal for teens to sign shit in the pokemon world, the fact the interest rate was illegible should be able to get the contract thrown out for being presented in bad faith, the terms weren't clearly explained in-depth enough that a teenager could reasonably understand what the interest was, on top of it being illegible unless zoomed in on a phone.

>>58468321
This is just as retarded as everyone in-game sucking him off for doing small amounts of community service, usury and whatever other shady shit the rust syndicate doesn't just not happen because they clean up some trash and throw a community barbecue every now and then. Also note that corbeau ONLY paid taunies debt because he ended up liking the protagonist because they suck him off after kneecapping some protestors
>>
>>58468406
Sir please
Step into the elevator, we can discuss this at length in my office.
>>
>>58468396
It was in the fine prints tho
>>
>>58468253
>Why is Pokémon suddenly doing pro-Yakuza propaganda?
Because Legends ZA is a bootleg Yakuza game?
>>
I'm just glad to see some kind of organized crime in the games again. The teams from Gen 3 on have all been much idealists rather than Team Rocket who were simply a criminal enterprise.

>Loans are a legitimate business.

Essentially the game takes a bunch of groups that people typically look down upon: streamers and their obsessive creepy fans, the Yakuza, the super wealthy social elite, mega corporations that seemingly run your entire city, self-improvement cults and Nazi ubermensch children that just want to be proud of their heritage (really). And then tries to convince you they're actually misunderstood and not entirely evil, and in fact, they can all contribute to a healthy greater city community. A decent lesson for children I suppose but I don't think any adults are gonna be convinced by this game.
>>
>>58468373
and/or he'd offer to shave/trim you himself
>>
>>58468406
You keep bringing up this alleged illegibility. Have you seen the terms with your own eyes or are you basing this entirely on the word of another?

>>
>>58468378
I'd be annoyed too if it wasn't so fucking funny. The city, already stated in game to be in dire straits due to the events of XY, is now getting fucking raped with previously public spaces being converted into Wild Zones. You can no longer visit the grave of a loved one without being harassed by spiders and snakes and actual fucking ghosts.
>>
>>58469003
Yeah, like, I'm all for having more green spaces in cities in real life, but parks in real life don't have a bunch of huge wild animals that attack people.
>>
>>58469003
Also suddenly Alpha Pokemon are back and extremely aggressive so you'll legitimately get hyperbeam'd by a fucking dragon if you try to go to the wrong cafe. Imagine how many businesses are getting completely ruined by the wild areas or homes that'll have to be abandoned, and if you dare to complain about it then you're the villain that makes the Yakuza look like the good guys.
>>
Jett says that their company is just putting up the fences. The Pokemon are arriving whether people want them to or not, right?
>>
>>58468549
its really amazing how many of the side missions are just bullshit yakuza side missions that could have just been a couple text boxes instead.
>>
>>58468262
>Have 150k pokebux to repay the loan
>Corbeau doesn't even ask you for the money

These loan sharks suck and blow.
>>
>>58468253
>Looks Asian

Is he the first Vietnamese character?
>>
>>58469249
its never about getting the money back, but gaining a new slave to work for them
>>
>>58469200
I suppose that's right. But they're hiding the fact AZ' second miraculous device is inside the Prism Tower and that's causing all the problems. I missed the part where they explained what the second device is even supposed to be doing before going haywire but the plot doesn't make a lot of sense regardless.
>>
>>58469200
I don't think an area of town would be frozen over without the company making it so.
>>
>>58468253
This is what you choose to spend your time doing
>>
>>58469256
It was a rather odd localization choice to give a character that is so blatantly Japanese-coded a French name.
>>
>>58468402
Team rocket aren't the Yakuza they're the italian mob.
GIOVANNI for crying out loud
>>
>>58469442
That's only in the international version, his name is Sakaki in Japanese.
>>
>>58469442
That's because he's the ground type gym leader and it begins with "geo" (but also it's a good mafia name)
>>
>>58468253
>Why is Pokémon suddenly doing pro-Yakuza propaganda?
Because Sega also does it for a long time with Yakuza series. And generally lots of Japanese media do yakuza propaganda since most Japanese corporations are controlled by yakuza (especially Sega).
>>
>>58440567
>>
It's sad how Pokemon went from having fictional evil organizations inspired by real life criminal organizations to now have real life criminals like loan sharks as the good guys.
-Team Rocket: Mafia
-Team Magma and Aqua: Eco terrorists
-Team Plasma: a combination of Peta and gun control politicians
-Team Skull: Antifa
-Team Yell: Sports teams hooligans
-Macro Cosmos (the evil business at Pokemon Sword/Shield): "climate crisis" kike
>>
>>58469249
Off-screen sex (even gay whether you like it or not) was the real payment
>>
>>58468253
>Also, having a Yakuza group in what is supposed to be Paris feels really out of place.
You know the mafia exists in France, right?
>>
>>58468312
>Children receive full human rights at the age of 11 in the Pokemon game canon.
Only in Takeshi Shudo's original vision for the anime. Why do retards think discarded anime 'canon' applies to the video games?
>>
First they took away the asshole rival by making him too friendly, now they took away the evil organizations.
>>
>>58469989
The games also got affected by the anime, tourist. Like including Lugia at Pokemon Heart/Gold that was originally a Pokemon movie exclusive Pokemon, they included Team Rocket trio at games like Pokemon Yellow etc.
>>
>>58470021
Also the games later made Pikachu less chubby so he would move more like a human at the anime
>>
>>58470010
naveen is fucking annoying though
>>
>>58470021
Okay, so how does that prove people canonically adults at 11 in the video games? The "you become a Pokemon trainer at 10" thing isn't even canon in the games
>>
>>58469200
Yeah, the fences are their alternative to condemning the whole city until the giant Pokemon magnet/superweapon is dismantled. It's not a great solution, but it's better than leaving an entire city homeless.
>>
>>58468253
Game Freak received an offer they couldn't refuse
>>
>>58468732
In the cutscene where lida brings up the debt with taunie/urbain they go "woah the interest can't be that much!" while pulling up the contract, only to say "oh here it is, it's so tiny that if you don't zoom in a lot you can't even see it!", to which navven says "well it's in writing so it's concrete."
>>
>>58469125
Anon, they do.

>>
>>58470010
you dont need an evil team in every goddamn game
>>
>>58470010
You mean the thing they already did in SV, where there isn't an evil faction at all, not even one under the influence of a twisted bitch like the Aether Foundation with Lusamine and Faba?
>>
>>58470089
Don't the benches also have anti homeless handlebars?
>>
>>58469270
>I missed the part where they explained what the second device is even supposed to be doing before going haywire
Wasn't it supposed to be a second UW, except Az' Floette was the key?
>but the plot doesn't make a lot of sense regardless.
He's either stupid or naive for building a second superweapon in good faith, when he witnessed the carnage of the first one.

>>58469952
>Team Skull: Antifa
More like a gang of delinquents. Worst thing they did was occupying a town, not brutally beating up opponents or setting houses / cars on fire. Unless we're talking about them being useful idiots, then you're right.
>>
>>58469961
Hot...
>>
>>58468347
Yeah, instead you get decapitated or worse for not paying back a loan.
>>
>>58470172
SV had the professor, retard.
>>
>>58470545
A single professor's posthumous will constitutes an entire evil team, now?
>>
>>58470785
Why does a villain need a team?
>>
>>58470850
The point being made is Evil TEAMS don't exist anymore. Not "there are no villains anymore period".
>>
>>58470869
Okay, and why is that bad?
>>
>>58470931
I don't know, ask the guy who's mad that they keep rounding the edges off of characters instead of me.
>>
>>58470931
I like evil teams
>>
>>58470162
Yes, you do, retard. It's a fucking rpg. It's like making an action movie without a villain.
>>
>>58471087
You already have a task: To become champion.
You could defeat contained threats instead of a team. It is so uncreative nowadays any way.
>>
>>58470172
Yeah, that's one of the main reasons SV is trash.
>>
>>58470135
Are you retard? Nintendo is famous for being from the few exceptions of big Japanese company not being owned by yakuza.
>>
>>58471095
Is a tournament arc in the Japanese anime game really more original than having an evil team?
>>
>>58471095

>>
>>58468253
why is he so short. i can't tell if he's supposed to be your age or an adult
>>
>>58471549
That’s just an asian male thing, hey are very short
>>
>>58471558
japs aren't that short these days
>>
>>58470869
Team Flare is in the game?
>>
>>58471731
Nope, that's Team Flare Nouveau, and of our two members we see, the only "extreme" they take is their righteous fury at AZ because his mistakes led to Lysandre's insanity and eventual near-death experience, but beyond that they have no malicious intentions or reckless criminal activity we've heard about, they want to better Lumiose City just like literally everyone else in the game.
Their worst crime is trying to convince you that AZ need be punished and to give them Floette, but they never actually do anything wrong themselves and quickly give up on trying to make you see their vision and instead kowtow to your way of doing things.
>>
>>58471087
Modern Pokemon still has villains, just not evil teams. Arceus had Volo & Scarlet/Violet had the professor.

Here's a chilling Halloween tale. One upon a time, an innocent evil wizard named Merasmus bought a hotel for $100,000, hoping to flip it and make a fortune! Alas, he did not have $100,000, but do you know who did? The Japanese Mafia! But, due to a language barrier, Merasmus was unclear about the frankly punitive interest rates! Welcome to my financial nightmare, mortals!
