You have the same survivability as in the turn based games, so being able to reliably dodge attacks would be bad. Attacks that had low accuracy previously can be dodged reliably just by walking away as long as you didnt commit to an attack first. Double team is awful though. Long wind up for a few seconds of invulnerability. By the time its done you just get hit again.

The boss fights are dramatically easier when you have a super-effective attacker doing Plus moves, even moreso if they happen to be a Mega, so just make sure you have good coverage for movesets and you should be fine.If you wanna do online I could see Gardevoir, Heracross, Altaria, and (eventually) Barbaracle performing well. EQ is too prevalent for Garbodor to perform well and Camerupt is gonna get raped by Gyarados.

I'm focusing on filling the dex (doing a living one expecting them to add a reward in Home eventually) and side quests for now, but trying to decide what to do when transfer happens.The only one of my bro-team to make it is Gardevoir so I went through some older bros to see who could make it as well, and my old Roserade would be cool too. I also want to reset my story playthrough Absols stats, I really liked him. The other three slots might be some of my story team, but might be mons I think are cool too. I could maybe use this opportunity to try mons I otherwise couldn't (always liked Skarmory but didn't consider one for my bro team since Corviknight has been on it for a while). But also they should be fun to use in Z-A too I feel like. Which Skarmory might be, I should give it a try. I also think it'd look cute with my trainer

I just realized that Swords Dance and Nasty Plot don't say "sharply boosts" like in past games, implying that they're only a one-stage boost now. Does that mean that Bulk Up and Calm Mind are objectively better because they raise multiple stats? Or is there something I'm missing that still makes Swords Dance and Nasty Plot useful?

>>58478157Call me a brainlet but I feel like boosting moves in general are kinda mid in this game because unlike previous games in the time it takes for you to boost your opponent can slap you once and already have their second attack queued up. If you're gonna spend time boosting an attacking stat you'd better make sure you one-shot. I think screens fare much better since they don't disappear when the setter gets knocked out.

Even singleplayer if its a melee opponent you can just space them out to buff for free.Remember that for most physical attacks pokemon actually need to walk all the way up to the opponent to attack.

>>58478818Weirdly enough, Aromatisse. Was wandering around the city early on and encountered a random Spritzee like 10 levels higher than anything else I'd seen. Took out like half my team just trying to catch it. Afterwards, I kept it on my team purely to use as an emergency safety pivot with the full intention of boxing it later on and then it randomly saved my ass in so many battles even after my mons went over its level. It helps that a ton of shit in this game is weak to Fairy and Psychic, but its bulkiness really serves it well in this battle system. It can tank any moves, even supereffective ones like a champ and then Draining Kiss heals enough that it's really hard to KO. Over the course of the game now I think its only legitimately fainted only twice in battle. It kept wrecking shit and so it earned a permanent spot on my team. Now late game it's still incredibly useful for setting up dual screens for my other mons and still hits like a truck when necessary.

It's the only non-Mega on my team and I tend to use it when going into battles where I don't know what the opponent will be leading so I'll probably have something to hit it super effectively. I do wish it got Dazzling Gleam though. I needed Fairy coverage on my team and Disarming Voice is too weak to justify.And not a mon but a move, I've come to love Fly again. I used it often as a kid because it was the best flying coverage you got, but got annoyed in later generations with having to wait a turn making using it feel boring. Now it feels incredibly satisfying to fly up out of the way just in time to dodge an incoming Hydro Pump.
