Just finished Pokemon Soulstones
Unfortunately the final battle requires you to have atleast two Pokemon, so I brought along my weakest Pokemon with Revelation(Epoch Delcatty). At least I still have the HoF screenshot from part 1 that only has Revelation in it. Victor did nothing wrong btw

Here’s mine from 5 years ago on my horrible work laptop that I never returned, which is why I took a photo of the screen. This was actually the first difficulty hack I played, it was pretty tough near the early game but third gym onwards it was smooth sailing.

I'll be honest, I liked it as a kid, then didn't much care for it until gen 6 or 7 when I failed to shiny hunt it, and then lost interest again until farigiraf came out. so I may do as much ribbon master on girafarig soon

NTA but in DPPt, you only need to see all of the regional mons, not capture.
If you fight every trainer, the only shit you'll be missing is stuff in the E4, none of which is beyond your ability to get yourself.
You absolutely can have the national dex before entering.

Yeah, you can only have one mega-evolved pokemon at a time. and it has to either faint or run out of mega power to change back.

Power boosting items are still pretty strong.
Stacking Silk scarf on Fufrou for a boosted double edge lets it hit like a truck. and recoil is based.

Arbok was also a menace until endgame because all the fang type moves give a decent amount of coverage and come out fast. Flinching is really strong. and Toxic is kinda busted as a failsafe. Unfortunately at the end of the game he wasn't really able to punch through. Might just have been my moveset though.

Never got much milage out of berries though. I need to fiddle around with held items online. Normal Gem boosted hyper beam has to be worth doing right?

In plat you unlock the lake trio right after the distortion world stuff, so you can at least see them before the 8th badge.
Something I forgot to mention was the books, some stuff like manaphy can only be seen via interacting with books in the region. Manaphy is in Mr. Backshot's house for instance.

Trading counts as seeing the pokemon, so in retail you can trade all the pokemon over to set the national dex flag. But you only get to have the poke radar and other related national dex features once you reach Eterna city for some reason.

The game railroads you hard up to that point without you even realizing it. I had to play up through the cycling road in diamond for stunky and the fossil, and I had the game reset my teleport location twice without me using a center.
I think internally there's a bunch of flags that get resolved around you getting the bike, it's weird. I don't have much evidence just beyond what I did a few days ago. I'll be 'speedrunning' pearl for glameow up through canalave, so I might experiment a bit through that.
