>simply meganium but more
>if you already liked meganium, you'll love the mega
>if you didn't already like meganium, the mega won't suddenly make you like it
>meaning meganiumCHADS don't need to deal with an influx of fake fans
We couldn't have possibly won harder.
>>
>>58479875
idk I really like base Meganium but my feelings on it’s mega are mixed
>>
>>58479880
You are entitled to that opinion.
>>
>>58479875
I just think the flowers could be more interesting. Doesn’t have to be the Eternal Flower lol but for something with a “signature” move nicknamed “The Mega Sol Cannon” I’d expect something more than what we got.
>>
>>58479875
the flowers look stupid
simple as
>>
>>58479875
>Meganium but a retarded rock a stack
Let the copium tank go, dude.
>>
>>58479992
interesting how this forced meme only appeared months after mega meganium had already leaked
>>
>>58480006
That's because people finally found something that has a stark resemblance to this lazy ass mega, toiletdile is the same thing. Keep coping
>>
>>58480023
>That's because we really had to stretch it in order to come up with a comparison to use as a gotcha
kekaroo
>>
>>58480047
Kek, you meganiumfags are so desperate for attention and validation. Just accept your mega looks like a toy for babies and move on.
>>
>>58480056
Maybe if you're around toys for babies a lot, it does to you
>>
>>58480056
>be one of the worst starters if all time
>have one chance to fix your dogshit design with a mega
>Ends up being a lukewarm shitmon with a vague resemblance to a fisher price toy.

It's sad they have to gaslight themselves into believing meganium but with extra flower isn't a lazy ass design and could of been better.
>>
>>58480107
This is why nobody takes pokefags seriously, they settle for less and eat up their slop with no question like the good piggies they are.

"Meganiumgods" and "meganiumchads" are common nouns, anon. It's not a nickname for me, it's how I refer to Meganium's fanbase as a whole. I don't believe I've ever called myself either of these two things.
>>
kino. truly one of the only good thing that came from Pokemon Mash Z and A to win.
>gradient flower neckbeard (like looking in a mirror)
>cooler antennae
>furry grassy feet
its a improvement on a already great design of my GOAT starter. might end up becoming my favorite mega. really hope it actually brings something new and unique to when it comes to Champions (a game that isnt braindead)
>>
>>58480418
There's tons of abilities I can see it reasonably getting that would be fucking awesome.
>pixilate
>regenerator
>triage
>natural cure
>thick fat
Here are some that immediately come to mind.
I disagree that it's an improvement, but you can't improve on perfection, so I didn't expect it to be.

How does this thing have 143 Special Attack, what about adding a random flower collar makes it hit harder?
>>
>>58480498
The flowers allow it to use a supercharged Solar Beam (called Mega Sol Cannon), presumably its flowers absorb more sunlight so they can release more sunlight

>NOOOO WHY DON'T YOU HATE IT YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO HATE IT

>gets more powerful temporary form
>grows a flower neckbeard
>"why does the neckbeard make him stronger"
correlation ≠ causation
thats like saying "how does Goku's hair changing colors make him stronger?"
>>
>>58480571
It is the causation though
>>58480511
>>
>>58480572
Actually that probably isn't fair to say, my explanation IS complete and utter headcanon and pretending it isn't would be pretty lame
>>
>>58480571
It does from a design standpoint

Gold hair clearly represents an awesome shift in power, at least when accompanied by whooshing sounds and a golden aura

Meganium on the other hand just looks bulkier to me (although the point about Solar Beam from the dex is fine)
>>
>>58480618
Megas have always been kinda just amplifying a major aspect of the pokemon to the extreme (at least all the good ones are)

Solar Power is a possibility, based on the pokedex
Would be cool since SV gave it Weather Ball

Would also be sick, hell it might even get a brand new ability

Nah

Yep that's a grower

I can see it happening, but there's a number of possibilities

I wish they gave it the Chikorita/Bayleaf leaf again. The anime was so cool showing it twirling it around to perform moves and that magic just gets lost when it evolves to its final form. Instead we got Totadile mega which...I mean Feraligatr doesn't do anything Totadile doesn't so it kinda feels wasted? Both bite and have big jaw. Feels like it should have been the other way around with Meganium gaining the baby trait and Feraligatr getting uh...I dunno bigger and tougher looking? Like people would feel a lot better if Mega Meganium jsut had a ridiculously large leaf on its head. It wouldn't look like a toiler cover.

I like Mega Meganium though, just kinda wish it brought the leaf back.
>>
Its boring but at least its not Mega-Feraligatr
>>
>>58479875
>LET'S SLAP MORE PETALS ON MEGANIUM LMAO
mega evolutions were a mistake that enabled gamefreak's laziness
>>
>>58479875
At first i was off put by it then when I was chasing that pancham and chikarita was the one keeping up with me in the intro I picked it as my starter and now they're finally reached their peak

My question is, what are the best moves for it? Like I haven't used this line in decades so I have no idea please help me and is there a way to make my phone green?
>>
>>58482623
I ran it with Dazzling Gleam, Giga Drain, Bulldoze and swapped between Light Screen and Reflect based on which rogue mega fight I was preparing for.
Drain + Screens keeps it alive, gleam is the main fairy stab when it megas and bulldoze is for coverage against fire/steel. I didn't find the earth power TM until much later but it gets that as well.
Leech seed doesn't work on rogue megas and normal mons tend to die in 1-2 hits anyways.
>>
>>58479875
Chikorita is still the best.
>>
>>58482623
it gets Earth Power by TM
>>
>>58485066
where's that located?
>>
I've tried doing a chikorita playthrough in soul silver twice, but around goldenrod I just give up. I really want to give it a chance, but it's nothing but punished in its home games.
I've tried to pinpoint why I can play bulbasaur in kanto vs chikorita in johto, but I can't quite pin down the issue beyond the type composition of the early gyms and meganium being pure grass.

I know I'm overlooking something so feel free to call me retarded and let me know what that is
>>
>>58486017
It's legit the Chikarita line's BST distribution and movepool makes it so much harder compared to the Bulbasaur line
their BST distribution makes them able to tank some hits but not enough to do anything but set up either shields, safeguards, weather and what have you. which is also not good because Grass is one of the types that is vurable to damn near everything with weaknesses to fire, bug, flying, ice and poison, type moves that have a very wide variety of pokemon that learn moves like x-scissor, u-turn, poison jab, Ice punch, Fire Punch, Aerial Ace

the sp.attk/sp. def, split as well as creating physical/special split between types hurt the grass type even more as now pokemon with a decent enough attack stat can murder the fuck out of most grass types despite not having the STAB on the move, which is why most meganium lines run Reflect or Light Screen, they flat out need it to survive at least 1 turn to set up those screens and maybe a sunny day, toxic, safeguard or attempt Body Slam in hopes of inflicting Paralysis

In short, the chikarita line is built for support plays rather than being a battler on it's own the mega didn't really change that roll just gave them a bit more survivability thanks to it's fairy typing but that can easily work against it because Steel is also a tying that has lots of move distribution out there.

I applaud you for trying to run through with them especially in Johto which is populated heavily by it's many weaknesses but facts are facts, it's the same with the Fenniken line, they built to be as fast as they can be, fire off one attack then die

Blastoise, oddly enough is the worst of the kanto starters be it's dynamax or it's mega a basic water type just is not enough when it's move pool is lacking, it can survive a thunderbolt sometimes but it can't kill on a revenge strike and is too slow just like Meganium so it will only be useful for stalling.
>>
>>58486200
The thing that gets me is that I don't mind a weaker starter. I love playing with bulbasaur because it filling primarily a utility role encourages me to be more creative with my party composition.
On paper, I should be able to play meganium, but it just doesn't work out in my experience.
>>
>>58486200
btw mega blastoise is insanely good in real games. It gets shell smash.
>>
>>58486017
>around goldenrod
why? that's literally where all the trouble ends
>>
>>58486572
Fatigue honestly
>>
>>58486578
I don't really see how you can be fatigued while playing HGSS but different strokes for different blokes I guess
>>
>>58479875
Shit Mega competitively, Shit Mega design in general
>>
>>58486767
>shit mega competitively
>when we don't know what the abilities or final, non-legends movesets are going to be
>when it has 143 spatk and 115 in both defenses, with access to moves like earth power, dazzling gleam, leech seed, and giga drain
>when its type combo has perfect synergy with the already popular heatran, both pokemon covering all of each other's weaknesses (with the one notable exception of flying press) AND benefitting from sunlight
You're allowed not to like the design, that's pretty subjective, but come on now. It's far too early to determine its competitive viability.
>>
>>58486822
You're just begging the obvious question
>what ability would this need to be good
>>
>>58486834
A lot of abilities would be great on this thing. I can see Pixilate or Triage happening, absolute best case, but something like Regenerator or Natural Cure would be really cool too. Solar Power, Chlorophyll or something of the sort would also be really fun. A brand new ability is also always a possibility, albeit unlikely.
Really, the absolute worst I can see it getting is Healer, which would fucking suck, or just Leaf Guard again, but I highly doubt they'd do that (but the possibility is there)
