So like chimps and orangutans? Not seeing the problem here.

Disgusting. That thing should be in its ball.

that bed has enough space for both of them
>>
>>58491127
Like any well loved pet he probably does sleep in his masters bed when he wants to but as a good owner his trainer still provides him with a sleeping space.

I'm seeing what you're doing and I'll just say that you're trying too hard

Here's the question.

Would you rather live as a burnt-out delivery driver in a one-room apartment but with a Gardrvoir, or continue to live as you do without one?

Point the air conditioning at it and turn it on full blast

Cringe, they should've shown her cuddling in bed with her trainer
>>
>>58491001
Why is the fact that Gardevoir is human-shaped such a notable factor for you in regards to that? That barely means factors at all to that.

>>58491004
Eh. If the Pokémon's OK with it I guess. They could always go to their ball too.

>>58491006
I highly doubt this is much of a thing for Pokémon. It's canon that all species of Pokémon have at minimum human-level cognition.

>>58493171
Franchise inconsistency.
>>
>>58491001
They're animals at the end of the day. Like, how would a wild Gardevoir sleep?

it's so fucking jarring how they'll portray a pokemon like gardevoir as having human-level cognition and then go "yeah no this is totally an animal dude"
like can't they see it's off-putting?

They're as smart as humans and they have human emotions. They have humanlike thought patterns, humanlike values. Notice the contrast between gardevoir and the gogoats in the crash scene. The gogoats just hop away from him and leave him to die, while gardevoir gets in front of him and tries to hold back the truck. The former are simple creatures who are ultimately concerned only with personal survival. The latter is a being who thinks "even if we both die, it's my duty to safeguard him". She's more than a mere beast.
>>
>>58493369
How is it inconsistent when Tajiri was referring to Pokemon as pets as early as Gen 1
>>
Like any good wife. She should wait for her husband.
>>
>>58493702
Dogs do that, sweatie
>>
>>58493726
Dogs are human
>>
>>58493710
Tajiri stopped being involved in the franchise after gen 2.
>>
>>58493702
They live in the woods and form no complex society, they're just more advanced animals, I'm sorry, but Gardevior is gonna grab food with it's bare hands and hide under your bed to eat it.
>>
>>58493747
And? The series still treats Pokemon as pets, a lot of the activities in the main games are pretty much pet interactions like playing fetch, cleaning them, feeding them treats. Scarlet and Violet even gave all Pokemon zoomies like a real cat or dog
>>
>>58493764
This. Pokémon can not do anything complex without human instruction. They have no creativity. People talk about how smart Alakazam is because it has a lot of processing power, but it is just a number cruncher, and no more intelligent than an Intel processor
>>
>>58493764
>They live in the woods and form no complex society

I meant the sitting on the floor eating out of a pet food bowl part. That's been portrayed inconsistently. On Pokémon being pets, I agree, Pokémon can totally be pets, even if what it means for a Pokémon to be a pet is a little different to that of real-life animals being pets.
>>
>>58493702
>The latter is a being who thinks "even if we both die, it's my duty to safeguard him". She's more than a mere beast.
She only thinks that way because he’s her trainer, not because she has advanced humanlike thoughts. Same as a dog protecting its owner from danger.

>>58493820
Have you ever seen a complex Gardevoir society in the woods?
>>
>>58493702
>>58493605
If you can eat with utensils, not make a mess, and are capable of taking your dishes to the sink and washing them then you can sit at the table.
A baby in a highchair is an exception, one day they will be washing dishes and will learn why we do it. I cannot say the same for a dog.
Can a Bulbasaur understand why we sanatize and wash? An irl orangutan can learn to wash chlothes and themselves with soap but do they know the right way from the wrong way? Do they know why we do it?
>>
>>58493764
>>58493786
>A species having at least human-level cognition MUST ALWAYS result having the EXACT same values and behaviours as humans!
Wrong. Pokémon are mostly OK with their current situation. They like having handle some things for them.
>>
>>58493783
Lucario for example.
>Lucario, you were more to me than just my student… You were my closest friend.
A talking sapient being who had a mentor/student relationship with his master, not a pet/owner relationship. As the other anon said, the franchise is inconsistent.
>a lot of the activities in the main games
The main games are shit.
>>
>>58493859
So you're saying Pokemon are like africans and jeets? Capable of forming society, but preferring to eat poop from goat anus?
>>
>>58491001
If anything this makes it worse than sleeping in the same bed.
As much as the pokedex waxes on about most psychic pokemon being smarter than humans, this comes off as a power play dynamic here
>>
>>58493959
The pokedex is gay and say a lot of dumb things.
>>
>>58493849
>She only thinks that way because he’s her trainer, not because she has advanced humanlike thoughts. Same as a dog protecting its owner from danger.
Their pokedex entry in Sleep says they're like that towards people and Pokemon in general, not just their trainers.
"Gardevoir frequently sleeps upright so it's able to protect people or Pokémon at any moment."
It can't just be instinct since there's obviously no evolutionary advantage to risking your life for members of completely separate species, so they're mentally advanced enough to have abstract moral values and feel a sense of duty.
>Have you ever seen a complex Gardevoir society in the woods?
They don't make cities on earth because they're native to another world.
"It resembles a maiden in appearance, but it wields strange powers to project visions of paradise."
>>
>>58493959
No, it doesn't. It comes across as a guy giving his pokemon a place to sleep.
>>
>>58493786
Beheeyem made a space ship, and Malamar made that terraforming thing and the time machine.
>>
Gardevior is basically human so it's okay for me to marry it.
>>
>>58493959
The Pokédex only says that about a few Pokemon and Gardevoir isn’t one of them.

>>58494032
It’s sleeping on what looks like a pet bed.
>>
>>58493959
yeah, if you don't want them to be sleeping in the same bed (which is very understandable) then just put two regular-ass beds in the room. hell, have a bunk bed.

>>
>>58494069
Gardevoir stand, or kneel, while sleeping. A bed is completely unnecessary for Gardevoir. A soft place for his knees, like that mat, is all he'd need or want. And he can still crawl into his trainers bed if he really wanted to.

That Lucario example isn’t the best. Plenty of people refer to their beloved pet as their best friend, but that doesn’t make pets the same level as humans.

>Plenty of people refer to their beloved pet as their best friend

I never heard of that headcanon before
>"It resembles a maiden in appearance, but it wields strange powers to project visions of paradise."
Being able to show visions to people doesn't mean you come from another world, it just means you have psychic powers

>>58494085
Maybe Gardevoir forms symbiotic relationships with the people and Pokemon it protects, too

>>58494055

NPCs in zaza talk about pokemon shit and there is a quest in sun and moon where you clean up after pokemon
