Are you enjoying the new battle system?
>>
>>58491919
It's fun for this game. I still prefer turn based though. But yeah I don't mind it
>>
>>58491919
It’s ok ig . Not having Power Points is great though
>>
>>58491919
Its eh almost okay. When it works it gets you engaged and you have some fun. When mons get stuck or something like that screws up the pace it feels bad.
>>
I like it but I hope it doesn’t become the new default, it lacks the depth of turn-based.
>>
>>58491929
I feel similarly. It's got a surprising amount of depth all things considered but I much prefer traditional turn based games
>>
>>58491919
No
>>
>>58491919
It feels very shallow and it being the sole attraction for Infinite Battle Royales makes it very hard for me to stick with the postgame content specifically, since it's not advancing an otherwise fairly good story.
>>
>>58491919
Palworld's battle sustem is still better
>>
>>58491919
Yeah. But my biggest complaint is that the lock-on to use attacks isn't a toggle, and there's no setting to make it a toggle. It feels like no one play-tested this for more than a couple minutes at a time.

I also prefer classic turn-based battles for the main series. I've been disappointed I can't play with one hand using the L=A scheme (which doesn't exist in this game) like I usually do to go grab a drink or something in the kitchen while I play.
>>
>>58491919
I love it.
>>
>>58491929
This. Wouldn't mind if future Legends games are real time like this one. But I prefer turn based. I did like Arceus' turn based system too also. The fast/strong styles didnt really bother me all that much, it was a fun twist on the traditional turn based system

Yes. Its very good and makes me feel like I’m playing an old MMO pet class. I love playing classes with pets like that where you don’t have full control of what its gonna do but you can still give it precise commands.
Unfortunately i am sure its gonna filter most of the normie faggots used to spamming super effective moves.
Really wish they added 2v2s and 1v1s. The battle system has so much fucking potential on 2v2s its insane. I wish they did a multi-battle co-op battle tower especially theres plenty of mons and move mechanics that can easily play a supportive role.
That being said I do not want it to replace mainline turn based. Definitely keep legends games like this though.

>>58491919
it's just xenoblade but bad
>>
>>58492001
Personally speaking, it has its own kind of depth. Its not full action and its also not rotation slop like modern mmos are.
It feels like a sidegrade to the turn based formula and if they add more moves and abilities to it I am positive it will become significantly more fun. This is literally the game where a 2 player co-op mode should be added as well, tons of moves are meant to be supportive. I was a bit upset when I saw light screen/reflect affected allies in battles that had npc allies and I knew that was never gonna be relevant in the regular gameplay loop.
>>
>>58491919
It’s the ultimate Pokémon experience. Being able to have move clashes is amazing.
>>
>>58491919
I rather play Palworld
>>
>>58492178
From what I played its like XC1 I guess but better since you have full control and your characters don’t die in one hit to the level difference modifier making it into a dps race.
XC2 is just rotation sloppa.
XC3 I have not played but I heard it has healing and aggro mechanics so its probably good.
>>
>>58492044
I think they made it a hold because it makes it easier to swap between battling and rolling/running.
>>
>>58492440
I think the intended playstyle is just to tap the trigger when you use a move then unlock so you can easily dodge/run and reposition. You only need to be locked on for a second to queue an attack.
>>
>>58491919
I think in the next game they should merge elements of both. Keep it turn based but add the positioning, distance and area of attack elements. That way you can keep the strategic depth of turnbased while adding a more engaging feel to it. Like trails in the sky
>>
>>58491919
Definitely more fun for the campaign. It makes fighting random trainers and EXP fodder decently fun, and the campaign very rarely has any challenging fights (in the turnbased format), so I really prefer this system. It doesn't help that turn based is extremely fucking slow.
>>
>>58491919
Much better that LA but I want them to keep the Mai series turn based and experiment with the legends games
>>
>>58492044
Why the hell are so many people asking for a lock-on toggle? You need to let go of the lock-on all the time to reposition or dodge on a whim.

I'm like two hours in, and I'm not sure what to think of it as a battle system yet. *Maybe* there'll be cooler moves with wilder effects to use later on, but so far it's just Pokemon but Active Time Battle/MMO cooldowns. The most interesting thing I've seen yet is Quick Attack being exactly what it says on the tin, and Protect being the invincibility frames move. But... >>58492155 as this anon points out, the system is certainly built well enough that the fantasy of being a Pokemon trainer is realised, you give commands, and the Pokemon does its thing with slight independence/dumb AI.
>>
>>58491919
Its ass, I hope we go back to turn-based
>>
>>58492842
Theres lots of fun stuff when you get to more powerful moves. And a decent amount of gimmicks like u-turn, substitute, or perish song for experimentation.
>>
>>58492842
The game has a new layer of depth thanks to hitboxes.
For example waterfall has range and is a foward dash but more prepare time while liquidation is very fast and instant but extremely close range
Moves that teleport you are also really useful to combo with more powerful attacks especially aoe, like fly, aqua jet, quick attack, etc. Fly and Bounce are especially strong in this game.
>>
>>58491919
I'm definitely not a fan of certain aspects of this new battle system, but it isn't terrible. (Though, I do prefer the turn-based one, ultimately.)

I love it, it's a welcome change in my opinion. Now can Rogue Megas please stop fucking hard targeting the player when there's another NPC and two other Pokemon on the fucking battlefield because holy shit is the Mega AI so fucking annoying and I hate it. Most games enemy AI unless it's Dark Souls have a cooldown on enemy actions before they get distracted and go for someone else but these fuckers won't get off my ass unless I dodge roll all their attacks
>>
>>58492842
It has depth in a very different way
>iframes
>hitbox
>movement speed
It also has a lot of the support utility from the og battle system like screen support, ailments and wish.
Its also worth noting that buffs/debuffs are very very strong even if you don’t stack them
>>
>>58491919
It was entertaining for its novelty for the first dozen or so fights. After 1000 I think it should be left in this game permanently and never see the light of day again.
