Definitely should've had more battles from all three of them though, especially given how many Pokemon were in XY, would've made perfect sense for Trevor to just be showing off rare Pokemon to the player, Tierno trying to assemble a dance team and getting members who can vibe together and Shauna having the typical later gen arc of going from an uncertain rookie to becoming more confident as a trainer. Serena/Calem should've just been dropped.

Yeah I genuinely just don't care. Like I care about every regions characters except the XY group. Not once through my playthrough did I think "I wonder what the XY protags are up to now. I wonder if the rivals became successful" and obviously Gamefreak didn't either beyond dropping a line about Tierno and the nerd kid.

>>58505051Understandable, Trevor's whole thing was challenging the player to complete the PokeDex but he'd never show off particularly rare Pokemon and I think he only challenges you twice in the entire game to compare Pokedexes. He also has easily the most uninteresting team in the game that aside from Aerodactyl being kinda rare, doesn't really fit the whole "completing the Pokedex" angle of his character when his other two Pokemon were Raichu and Florges, also lacking a full team but that's an issue across him, Tierno and Shauna.

Trevor can't even beat you like the one anon said. Tierno would have been a fun concept for a Contest rival but the game has no contests so you just do trivia with him for whatever reason. Shuana should have been another take on a rival like Wally but she goes no where. XY is such an absolute mess and waste of potential.
