You don't deserve the shiny charm then simple as
>>
>>58512016
I've been through this a couple days ago and just powered through it by doing a run of the one-star restaurant over and over, you can just press ZL to lock on to your opponents and A to one-shot them and progress dialogue, no need to move the control stick or pay attention. I had it going on in the background for several hours while browsing online.

I don't get why people are bothered by the battles of all things

You should naturally get to that if you do maybe 30 runs of Infinite Z-A Royale. You need to do 15 anyway, to reach the actual story conclusion, so it's not a crazy grind. And you get rewards for doing it (money, apricorn balls).

What I don't get is why they need you to catch 50 of every type. I'd get it if there was some sort of mechanic tied to catching multiple of something (chaining methods or something) but there isn't and the game just goes "catch 50 dragon types lol". There are 19 Dragon types in the entire game, so even if you assumed the most anyone would reasonably want to catch (one of each species for a living dex) why on earth would you catch another 31 dragon types for any reason other than to pass the research
>>
>>58512535
i'm only at 662 after intentional grinding, including 20 rounds of infinite. Also who the fuck is doing that many runs of Infinite that quickly besides genuine autists?

>You should naturally get to that if you do maybe 30 runs of Infinite Z-A Royale.
You're aware you can just do your reward matches in the middle of the night and continue, right? If you're picking up bonus cards, this only usually translates to about 12-15 trainers per reward match. This is even a more efficient way to get money (pic related, I hit the medal cap with just 42 battles).

By the time I had hit the 15 streak, I was only sitting at around 400 trainer battles.

There's basically nothing you can do to make the trainer grind faster since the limiting factor is how long trainer battles take, not how many you can fit into a night (time doesn't progress during battles, in menus or in cutscenes).

If you actually want to make it "painless", you're better off just camping Cafe Le Nah and doing it semi-afk or entirely afk if you have some way to automate it. Even then, it's 3 battles in about 2 minutes and 15 seconds.
>>
>>58512554
And to add to the Le Nah grind, you can use the Switch's built in button remapping to make it one handed. Just set your right Joy-Con's ZR to ZL. Or swap the respective controls to the left hand if you want to. You only need to use Lock-On and A, so put a fast attack on the right slot.
>>
>>58512590
>you can fap while your level 100 final evo gives a concussion to Pansage and Litleo hundreds of times
>>
>>58512535
Every since GO they've had this idea that everyone, not just the GO hoarders, just catch thousands of Pokemon over and over. You can see the design philosophy in Let's Go and Arceus.
>>
>>58512608
LGPE and LA both rewarded you for catches though. LGPE gave candies and chain bonuses, while LA gave seeds and rocks for mons you catch and release. In ZA there's nothing like either of those
>>
>>58512608
Arceus at least gives you items upon freeing caught Pokémon, in ZA you truly only do it for the research tasks. Of course you get TMs and other items upon each research level going up, but the specific method is arbitrary.
>>
>>58512016
Sorry more tasks, bottlecap store, and Kalos starter mega stones will only be available for DLC
Now go grind more infinite royale
>>
>>58512125
You don't even need to fight them if you have Rocky Helmet on something tanky. You'll only have to press A for the text boxes. One inconvenience you need to worry about is getting burned on the third fight, but maybe you could just use whatever the bulkiest fire type is.
>>
>>58513753
I got burned many times but you get healed afterwards so it's no issue. If you're using a high-level Pokémon it doesn't matter even if you get hit by super effective moves or suffer status conditions.
>>
>>58512016
Anyonr who actually wants the shiny charm is going to be grinding shinies for so long that the battles are a negligable amount of time.
>>
>>58512025
>EXTRA 30 DOLLARS
If you are lucky.
>>
>>58513774
It can already be purchased. It is 30 dollars.
>>
>>58512535
I'm at around 470 at reward match 12. I know it's slower but I'll probably keep doing the Royale to get better rewards until I just feel like mashing it out at the restaurants
>>
>>58512041
jailbreak your switch, maybe? retard
>>
>>58512016
I think it's cool to punish shiny hunters with the one thing they hate doing the most, playing the game
>>
>>58512016
taskmasker
>>
>>58512016
Wait I don't need to mass catch stuff? I've been doing those quests ever since I beat Zygarde thinking it came down to the wire...
>>
>>58512125
That's what I did, Extreme Speed Dragonite to make it even faster.
>>
>>58516378
You do, I did the 1000 battles as my first post game research grind and the only research I had left post shiny charm were every mega stone and 5 or 6 50 catches per type left to go.
>>
>>58516378
You can skip doing six of them in total, so you could theoretically get 50 Pokémon for 12 of the types and just 25 for the remaining 6, but it takes very little to just finish them all up by that point.
>>
>>58512535
>You should naturally get to that if you do maybe 30 runs of Infinite Z-A Royale. You need to do 15 anyway, to reach the actual story conclusion, so it's not a crazy grind. And you get rewards for doing it (money, apricorn balls).
I'm at 23 runs and still haven't broken 500 battles, if you're using the cards right you can get 3+ ranks done per night.
They definitely should have just lowered the point threshold and had the last task be the 500 battles instead. It would pace better with the 50 catches of every type without being a tedious chore that necessitates you battling in the most monotonous way possible for a reward that has been much more reasonable to get in the past
>>
I just finished the 15 infinite royales and I hit 1000 trainers defeated during the 15th, so I got the Shiny Charm the same time as Floette, is that odd? It seems like most people ended up with way less by that same point
>>
>>58517663
I was at 448 at that point.
>>
Sex with the professor
>>
>>58517663
it's innefficient doing trainer fights post game if you have enough points for a ticket so even doing a max 20 battles (realistically it will be much less if you take any cards at all) you'd only have done 400 extra battles for the final sidequest. the story with a good amount of sidequests shouldn't be more than those 400 either even if you do a good amount of grinding for money i would expect most people to still be missing at least 200 battles by the end even if not playing efficiently or grinding for money.
>>
>>58517692
>>58517815
I had somewhere around 430(?) battles done when I beat the main story, and then in the infinite royales I got around 35 wins each night the first few times before consistently being able to get 40+ wins every time
>>
>>58517663
I used a lot those cards that gave points for achieving things (3 kills with a specific type etc), after completing everything I ended with 520 ish

If you ignored those cards I can understand you ended with a much higher battle count
>>
>>58512535
they give you busywork to pad the runtime.
>>
Just so everyone knows, there's a new mod that accidentally bans people for no reason. So please be careful because you could get banned for no reason. It happened to my friend... All he did was post an afk method in this thread.
>>
>>58512125
I tried the method but you have to repress ZL when the new mon is sent out. I wanted to mash A.
>>
>>58512535
I was bored as shit even just doing the 15 rounds. I put the game down for several days between them.

>Hate game
>Force yourself to play it anyway
We deserve all the dogshit games GF makes
>>
>>58519419
I had a lot of fun with the previous 99% of the game. The Shiny Charm grind was unnecessary bullshit but I did it just to check it off since I'd done everything else and I automated it as much as possible anyway. I wish it wasn't done like that but it didn't ruin my overall enjoyment.
>>
>>58512626
it does feel weird that ZA doesn’t have any reward tied to releasing Pokemon, that was one of my favorite things about PLA
>>
>>58519460
On the flipside, you get a full 32 boxes.
>>
I've decided I'm just doing the infinite royale until I get it, the restaurant spam is so unengaging I hate it.
>>
>>58519522
With the right set, you can get over 100 battles in a night.
>>
>>58519529
In the royale?
>>
>>58519531
I was wrong, it's not 100+, it's 70+. You'd still get it done quickly enough.

we went from GF selling you "the unique journey between you and your friends the pokemon" to "catch the same pokemon 50 times or something to progress through the story". The marketing development couldn't get more soulless
>>
>>58519539
Fair enough. Honestly I just care about not being bored out of my mind and getting decent rewards. I'm at 600 rn so if I can reasonably grind out 100 or so each real life night this week I'll be fine
>>
>>58519566
You're going to be bored out of your mind anyway because this battle system has no depth.
>>
I don't think I even care about having the shiny charm in this game, there's little incentive to stroll around the wild zones if you've completed the other research tasks
>>
>>58513753
>>58513765
You can actually buy infinite Rocky Helmets from a guy at Canari's place in the postgame, so you don't need to worry about getting burned at all.
>>
>>58516378
As you can see, you can do all but 6 of the catching quests.
>>
>>58519558
> catch the same pokemon 50 times or something to progress through the story
Her missions aren’t tied to the main story though.
>>
>Game has just over half the average Pokedex for a modern title
>Dex can be finished rather easily due to size and online trading
>Lock the reward for a completed Pokedex behind a tedious battle grind to show of the games lack of content

Pokemon fans have Stockholm syndrome. No matter how much game freak abuses us we keep coming back for more.
>>
Do you know that if you hate doing something that's not a responsibility you don't actually have to do it right?
What the hell is wrong with you people on this thread, if it's such a chore get out of your basement and help your mom with cleaning
>>
>>58520003
Damn, it's almost like you can hate doing something and still do it because it's in the way of you actually doing something you like.

I just finished the post game and I'm sitting at just over 500.
>>
>>58520136
A lot of it seems to come down to whether you used the cards during the battle royales, since not doing so means you need a lot more battles to get the needed points.

Thought the grind would be obnoxious but just getting rewards and Taunie/Jacinthe’s missions made it seem much more doable.
>>
>>58520716
It's bearable for me since i want the apricon balls but that's just cope because they should've been in the emporium instead of locked behind random chance challenge tickets where you only get 1 ball at a time maybe.
>>
>>58520749
I honestly don’t care for most of the rewards besides Bottle Caps but the loop of the battle zones has me coming back. Once I finish this I need to take a break from this game

>>58521213
It's bullshit that the only way to get more evolution items is by going through that grind. You can't even manipulate it because the next reward is already determined when you pick up the current one.
>>
>>58521224
Uh, it's not. There are two workers in the warehouse of Racine Construction who sell you the items as long as you got them through the respective sidequests the first time.
>>
>>58521279
I don't think you even need to have gotten them via sidequest. Over half the items I bought off Racine Construction I didn't already have.
>>
>>58521307
I see, then it's even simpler. The only exceptions are the items to evolve Galarian Slowpoke which you can only get one of each, but you can also only get one Galarian Slowpoke so it's a moot point right now, if you really want both regional evos in ZA you're going to have to transfer another Slowpoke through Home when it's available.
>>
>>58521130
Truly this hell is inescapable.
>>
>>58521336
They don’t have Sachet or Whipped Dream unless I’m missing something to unlock them
>>
>>58521463
Sachet and Whipped Dream are primarily Royale only, ignoring any sidequests that might hand them out. What's retarded is that King's Rock and Metal Coat are also Royale rewards, but you can just buy an infinite amount of them from Racine Construction in the postgame (Royale rewards are also postgame so it's not like doing it the hard way gave you earlier access to them)
>>
>>58512535
1000 battles is a lot more than you'd think.
Also the most efficient method of grinding it is either not even playing the game (afk) or running around the same two loops one shotting fodder npcs with a lv100 extreme speed dragonite. Its padding to a t. The 50 type catch is extremely easy and can be completed in less than a hour.
