The trainers are all in their mid 30's, so you could just solo them with Swampert, but be warned that there are a couple of Grass types on route 133, I wouldn't risk them hitting your starter even with the level gap.
>>
>>58511862
Haven't played it myself, but I guess it depends how many of each type there are and what types the bosses are.

Congrats! Guess it went smoothly since you didn't recap.
>>
miraculously, I defeated the Driftveil Tournament without a single casualty. unfortunately, the game threw a triple battle at me and Whimsicott was killed. unlike Charles the Heartbreaker, there's no sign or warning that this trainer was a triple battle. it's a huge loss because I was banking on that Whimsicott to cripple opponents with Prankster priority. I wish I could fall back on Ducklett but in B2W2 you don't get Scald in Driftveil like you do in BW.
>>58516976
things were going smoothly for a while
>>
Small update to save the thread.

Made my way through the lakes, losing Blaine the Ponyta to Saturn’s Toxicroak surviving in the red off Flame Wheel then hitting Revenge. No problems with Mars or getting through 216 and 217. Caught a a Snover, an Medicham, and then a Sneasel at Acuity Lakefront. Working my way through the Snowpoint Gym, and making sure to not use the left stick to move so I don’t softlock. Should probably go back and teach Medicham Thunder Punch to go with Fire Punch for the few Water types in the gym.
>>
I don't really have an update ready, but I don't want to do an empty bump so here goes: there's only 2 irregular trainers in Chargestone Cave (B2W2): a male cooltrainer and a female cooltrainer (better name than ace trainer). The male is the dangerous one: he appears after the long bridge that is being repaired if you enter the area too early. His is a triple battle so formations are of the upmost important. The female trainer is stationary and facing north. She's very easy to avoid but her battle is a rotation battle, so you can just solo all 3 mons if you have a someone strong enough. The other cool trainers are moving and not irregular battles.
>>58517771

>>
I had the misfortune of running into a Darmanitan in a double battle so that means Zoroark and Swanna are dead. Darmanitan switched into battle while Zoroark was underground with Dig, so I didn't even get a chance to react. Darmanitan used Flare Blitz on Zoroark (camouflaged as Magnezone) and 1-shot it. Swanna was killed by a critical hit Thrash from the same Darmanitan. I believe its health was also completely full. The foe's Excadrill was also on the field, so I prioritized it over the Darmanitan thinking Swanna could resist a fire attack. I'm going to stop here for today and sleep on it.

Unfortunately I lost Sharpedo and Duskull this morning. Sharpedo to a Swimmers Gyarados using Thrash and Duskull to a Ace Trainers Manectric using Crunch. So no dark or ghost types to help me against the psychic gym. I did beat the sixth gym leader Winona though. First Sealeo took out Swablu with Ice Ball, then her Tropius uses Sunny Day but Torkoal takes advantage of Sunny Day to use Flamethrower on Tropius and her Skarmory taken them both out, Swampert took out Pelipper with a few Surfs and finally Sealeo took out her Altaria with one Aurora Beam.

Any advice for Liza and Tate?

Also never played yesterday.
>>
>>58518932
Swampert is far and away stronger than Tate/Liza's team, but, once again, their Solrock has Solar Beam. Odds are you could one shot each one of them by focusing them down one at a time, but Sealeo is five levels from evolving. As long as you take out Xatu and Solrock before they sets up Sunny Day, you should be fine

I beat the seventh gym leader Tate and Liza but at a severe cost because I lost Sharpedo and Duskull earlier, pokemon that would have been good against the psychic gym. So first I lost Sealeo to Xatus Confusion and while Swampert was able to take out both Xatu and Claydol with Muddy Water, I unfortunately lost Muddy to Solrocks Solar Beam. With two pokemon dead, Torkoal and Hariyama came in to save the day, Torkoal took out Solrock with enough Flamethrowers and Hariyama took out Lunatone with enough Vital Throws. I may have won but I'm down to two. I was able to beat the leader of Team Aqua Archie though. Hariyama used Vital Throw on his Mightyena and Sharpedo and Torkoal used Flamethrower on his Crobat. Now that both Team Magma and Team Aqua are out of the way, it's time for the final gym.

Any advice for beating Juan with just two pokemon? Or am I fucked?
>>
>>58519518
It's to late, I forget that Solrock knows Solar Beam and I lost my ace as well as Sealeo. I'm still down to two but I think I'm fucked.
>>
How do I undo this?

Beat Candice, but lost Bruno to her Abomasnow. Blizzard froze Goku, meaning I needed to switch and things got hairy as I played musical chairs. Probably could have just gone straight to Hulk, but wasn’t sure if he would survive the EQ. I’m not running calcs on every battle.

Now to Lake Acuity to save that chump Ash from Team Galaxy.

Well i just lost my Emerald Nuzlocke.

I surprisingly was able to beat Juan. Hariyama took put Luvdisc and Whiscash with ease but because Kingdra kept using Rest and Double Team, it took forever for me to take down Kingdra and Hariyama ran out of PP, so did Kingdra so I had Torkoal trap Kingdra in a fire vortex using Fire Spin and finally Kingdra went down, Hariyama struggled to beat his Sealeo and Crawdaunt but managed to beat them by struggling due to lack of PP. Unfortunately at Victory Road, I would lose my two remaining survivors to Wally's Gardevoir that used Psychic and so my nuzlocke ends here.

RIP to all the pokemon I lost in Emerald.

I'm gonna do Platinum next which is my favourite.

update to bump from page 9

Hugh's damn Simipour burned my Magnezone on switch in. I didn't have any better switch-ins so I had to spam healing items while praying that Scald didn't get a critical hit, or else Magnezone might have died. Thankfully, I won the battle with no casualties.

>Lv. 40 Gothorita
>Lv. 39 Banette
>Lv. 38 Magnezone
>Lv. 38 Conkeldurr

I chose to use the Masterball on Cobalion. Cobalion was at a much higher level than any of my guys and I didn't have anyone who could safely tank all of its hits.

I do not own a single Pokémon that can use Surf. please help.
>>
>>58523376
HM Slave clause yourself a surfer and never use it in battle.
>>
more bad news: Conkeldurr is dead. it was a double battle with two Roselias. I guess I figured I'd be fine if I used double Rock Slide on turn 1 (the other mon being Excadrill), but those Pedal Dances hit crazy hard. There was also no way of knowing which of the two Pokémon the Roselia's would hit. At least I caught a Surf-user in the next area.
>>58523684
miraculously, I just caught a Golduck but I guess I would have to use HM Clause if it came down to it. in retrospect: Oshawott might be the best starter if I want to avoid using HM Clause.
>>
Is there a challenge run where you can capture as many Pokémon as you'd like but you can only capture on per line and if they die you can't use that Pokémon line anymore.
>>
>>58524015
probably not but that's the best part: you can just make it up and play by your own rules
>>
"It's been 3,000 years," indeed. I was a bit rusty after putting down the game for so long, and it showed.
>Malva: Her Pyroar tried to take Maillot down with Wild Charge, but he wasn't having it. Rain Dance and Surf easily swept her entire team away.
>Siebold: Maillot's intended purpose was to be a troll with Water Absorb, but I was the one who got trolled in the end. Thunder got a low roll, allowing his Barbaracle to Cross Chop my Lapras to pieces. Cestus and Mackintosh took revenge, Stickpin Crunched on Starmie while Siebold desperately healed, and finally Babydoll one-shotted his Gyarados, bringing this messy fight to a swift end.
>Wikstrom: Ruff and Cestus held up well against most of his team in spite of the foe's coverage moves, but Aegislash's Sacred Sword spam nearly destroyed Lucario and forced me to switch him out. Stickpin was all too happy to make the ghost sword into another chew toy.
>Drasna: Babydoll immediately neutered the threat of Dragalge with a Psychic blast, clearing the way for Ruff to do her stuff with Play Rough. (Also, Ruff's Quick Claw somehow activated despite being Frisked by Noivern?)
>Diantha: Babydoll blew away Hawlucha and Gourgeist, while Ruff wrestled with Tyrantrum, Aurorus, and Goodra. Lastly, Gardevoir's display of Mega Evolution was nullified by a Cross Poison from Stickpin.
>AZ: Not much to say here, but at least Mackintosh got to see some action.
Now I'm off to Alola, once I give sweet Maillot a burial at sea.
>>
>>58522496
Yeah I think I was fucked when I lost Sharpedo and Duskull, two pokemon that would have helped against the psychic gym leader. Even Absol would have helped.

I've just began my Platinum Nuzlocke. I picked Turtwig as my starter and I caught Budew as my first catch. I did beat Roadk, I had Budew paralys Geodude with Stun Spore, then I spammed Growth over and over again until Budews Special Attack was maxed out and then Budew took out both Geodude and Onix with Mega Drain instantly. Unfortunately Cranidos outsped Budew and killed her with Headbutt which upset me. Still Turtwig was able to save the day with Razor Leaf and Absorb.

Also ignore the Bidoof, she's a HM slave or HM Slut as I named her, she will be used as a tool.

Turtwig evolved into Grotle, I caught a Buizel at the Valley Windworks and I beat the second gym leader Gardenia. I know you’ve lost at least one Pokémon, but how do you have only two Pokémon after two gyms? Do you have an additional rule that you can only use free Pokéballs or something? Have you just killed a lot of potential catches? Because Platinum has some great team members early that you just haven’t got.
>>
>>58528303
Because I made a rule stating that aside from starter, I can only catch pokemon that are part of the evolutionary line of characters aces. So like Roserade and Floatzel for example. Weavile and Toxicroak would also count.

Gothitelle was killed in battle. I knew Crustle was physical based, so I set up a Reflect and intended to switch out but X-Scissors was a critical hit, completely bypassing Reflect, and 1-shot Gothitelle.

Virizion was also 1-shot by a Scrafty's High Jump Kick (critical hit). 90% accuracy and 130 base power with STAB is insane to go up against in a nuzlocke. I didn't have any answers for it. I erroneously sent out Starmie to try and Minimize out of desperation but of course it didn't work and Starmie was 1-shot by Moxie+1 STAB Crunch. I really thought I would wipe in that battle but now that I survived: I'm not sure if I can continue.

but Cobalion was killed in battle...

well, the situation went from bad to worse. Gigalith is dead. It was against a Excadrill who had used Swords Dance. I definitely misplayed somehow but also, I didn't have a good answer for the Excadrill. I have no flying-types, and my team had multiple Steel-types. There's no way Golduck could tank a Sword Dance boosted Earthquake. I should have just spammed healing items over and over, healing to full health and abusing Gigalith's Sturdy until Earthquake ran out of PP, but I had forgotten about Sturdy in that moment; I'm simply not used to having Sturdy, but it was a lesson learned.

The real bad news is that Pawniard is dead. Pawniard was my answer for most of the Elite 4. It was the stupidest mistake I could have done this run: I used the Colress Machine on the Crustle inside that one cave while I had Max Repel in effect. I had forgotten that Pawniard was in front of the party because it was at the highest level at Lv. 47. Foolishly, I decided to battle the Crustle thinking I had a type advantage when surprise, surprise: X-Scissor was a critical hit and 1-shot Pawniard. I don't have a plan for the Elite 4 anymore.

How do you guys decide on what games and rules for your nuzlocke? I've never done one before.
>>
>>58531710
I try and play thr game i've gone the longest without touching, but there are exceptions. As for rules, I've formed mine out of a personal preference to use different team members each playthrough (so a series wide dupes clause), and a bit more difficulty in serious battles (no healing in battle of thr Pokémon is leading). For a first run, i would pick a game that you know well or FRLG, and with only the essential rules, maybe an HM Slave clause if you think it's necessary.

Had an unfortunate death in Candice's Gym.
Ace Trainer Sergio had a Floatzel, and Orphan the Crobat had previous damage. I wasn't sure if Floatzel had pursuit and didn't want to risk a crit Pursuit. Instead Crunch into an Aqua Jet Crit did the work. Checked afterwards and the Floatzel does not have Pursuit.
Spent some time since leveling up Bald Bull the Rampardos.
>Vs Candice
>Snover
Charap oneshots with Hyper Voice
>Sneasel
I swap Chelsea in on Faint Attack.
It Slashes Chelsea, who puts it well into the yellow with Specs Surf.
Candice switches Sneasel out for:
>Abomasnow
Who takes the Surf somewhat well.
I send Wilykit in on Wood Hammer, expecting the Intimidate to turn Abomasnow into easy pickings. However, Wood Hammer hits for almost half even while weaknened and without a crit. The Hail from Abomasnow's ability brings Wilykit belwo half.
I can't stay in, Wood Hammer again will kill and I can't kill first. The scary part is that my best choice, Charap, might die instantly if Abomasnow goes for Avalanche.
However, I'm lucky, and it goes for Wood Hammer... which still does near half, jeez.
However, all the recoil makes Chatter a guaranteed KO.
>Sneasel
Candice uses a Full Restore, and Charap's Chatter confuses Sneasel.
It hits itself, thankfully, and Chatter takes it out.
Avalanche was probably the only Sneasel move with a chance to KO, but Slash or Faint Attack could have forced me to go for Vessa vs the Medicham.
>Medicham
Instead, Medicham just uses Detect twice, before falling to Chatter on the third turn.

Wood Hammer had me shook.

First I had Torterra used Leech Seed on Gyarados while using defeating it with Razor Leaf and Toeterra nearly died, I then sent out my Floatzel against his Floatzel, Floatzel vs Floatzel, both used Crunch but his was faster, stronger and his Floatzels second Crunch landed a crit and unfortunately my Floatzel was killed there and then. I sent out Croagunj to take out his Floatzel with Revenge and to my surprise, Wake kept ordering his Floatzel to use Brine which Croagunk resists due to having Dry Skin and soon his Floatzel was out but I felt sad because Floatzels death could have been prevented. Finally Torterra took out Quagsire with one Razor Leaf and I won. Unfortunately I would lose more pokemon. In a battle against the Double Team in the foggy route, Rhyhorn was taken out by a Gyarados using Ice Fang and Croagunk was taken out by a Raichu using Thunderbolt. Then I also lost Gabite in the battle at Celestic Town against Team Galactics leader Cyrus who's Murkrow used a powerful Drill Peck.

It's a shame because I was doing good earlier but now I'm doing bad.

what ace mons can you still get at this point?
>saturn's toxicroak?

>cranidos or bastidon

>>58541630
I didn't realise this post was a reply to me but you accidentally responded to the wrong person though.

I can't get Skorupi because I caught Croagunk in the Great Marsh and I lost Croagunk. I can get Magmar and Electabuzz as well as Sneasel and a female Snorunt, I can also get the Riolu egg. I can't get the fossils because they are Diamond and Pearl exclusive.
>>
>>58542201
You coulda caught Croagunk on the swamp route west of Pastoria and saved Skorupi for the Marsh, and you can still get a fossil from the underground
>>
>>58542243
I tried to find Skorupi in the Great Marsh but it was taking forever. They don't always show up on some days and I happened to encounter a level 28 Croagunk which is higher leveled than the Croagunks you can catch on the route next to Pastoria city.

I never knew that about the fossils. I always thought Diamond and Pearl exclusive pokemon could only be found in that game like Stunky and Glameow for example.

Golurk and Altaria are both dead. Golurk had +6 defense, but Throh eventually got a critical hit and 1-shot it (yes, I was healing regularly). I guess using items counts as "moving first", giving Payback the double damage boost. Altaria also had +6 Defense, but Sawk got a Critical Hit with Rock Slide. This isn't looking good...
>>
I beat Shauntel with an Excadrill sweep. The moveset they gave Cofagrigus is very bad and easy to set up against. I honestly should have started the Pokémon League with Shauntal first.

It's over. I just lost my Platinum nuzlocke.

I did catch a Magmar at the Fuego Ironworks but while surfing to Canalave City, I lost my starter Torterra to a Fisherman's Gyarados that knew Ice Fang. Then in the fight against Barry at Canalave City, I lost Gallade to his Heracross and then finally I lost Magmar to his Infernape and my nuzlocke comes to an end.

Honestly I'm really upset right now, Platinum is my favourite game and I wanted to win. I feel like if i hadn't of lost Floatzel to Wakes Floatzel and if I hadn't of lost Rhyhorn and Croagunk to that double team in the foggy route, then I would have been able to get past Cyrus and Barry without losing a pokemon because then my team would be more varied. It's a shame because I was fan having fun earlier this morning, especially when Gallade took down Maylenes team. I did have some fun though and wish I could have atleast gotten far enough to the snowy areas.

My next nuzlocke will be either black or white 2.

RIP to all the pokemon in the grave.

I beat Grimsley with an Excadrill sweep. Liepard is very easy to set up against. Only Caitlin is left...
>>58542907

I beat the Pokémon Black 2 Nuzlocke!

I beat Iris with a Golduck sweep. I used 8 Rare Candies right before the fight to get it to level 63. I started out with Amnesia, but her Hydreigon was faster. I was still in green, so I went for another Amnesia and another, using the Sitrus Berry to keep my HP afloat. I was able to set-up 2 X-Speeds and 2 X-Specials against Hydreigon. I had to heal paralysis and use a third X-Special against her Lapras. If I had gotten crit even one time: I would have lost.

The Hall of Fame
>Lv. 64 Golduck
The Champion MVP. No one could have guessed that this little ducky was the secret weapon against Iris all along.
>Lv. 59 Excadrill
The Elite Four MVP. Great typing and stats lets it set up and sweep the Elite Four except for Marshall.
>Lv. 56 Amoonguss
I did not use it in the Pokémon League, but it's nice that it's at a high enough level to just add to the party. Not great but not terrible.
>Lv. 55 Altaria
It was killed in battle before it could show off its true worth.
>Lv. 54 Golurk
Met the same fate as Altaria, unfortunately.
>Lv. 53 Magnezone

I'm gonna try the post-games for White and Black 2, but without permadeath. While I do like to stick to the rules of a Challenge run even after the credits: I remember the B2W2 post-game being brutal from my casual White 2 run. It would leave a bad aftertaste if I wiped in the post-game.

These days, I exclusively play Pokémon by nuzlocking, so it'll give me a chance to enjoy the game casually while taking a break from nuzlocking and see the Unova post-games I never got to play. I'll trade Pokémon between the two games just for some silly, boosted EXP fun.

I just began my Black nuzlocke. I picked Tepig as my starter, I caught a Patrat and I also received a Pansage from the Dreamyard. I did lose my own Patrat to a Waitresses Patrat using Bide but I did best the first gym leader Cress, Tepig was able to beat Lillipup with Ember and Pansage took out Panpour with Vine Whip. Afterwards I caught a Blitzle and then a Drillbur at the Wellspring Cave and Tepig evolved into Pignite.

Here's hoping I win this time.

you can catch Excadrill in Victory Road iirc. methinks it should be good enough to handle the Elite 4, even without EVs. if you aren't playing with mandatory Dupe Clause: you can also catch another Drilbur in Charge Stone Cave at a much higher level. Drilbur simply isn't good, especially at low levels.

Littlemon team #36 to beat Alpha Sapphire E4 + Champ with a deathless & reliable strat. Level cap, no bag items, usual rules.

Tyrogue is the last Fighting type I could use. It wasn't as bad as I had thought. Venipede has both Spike entry hazards. Grimer has good attack and nice moves. Oshawott is to sweep Steven. Mareep might be the best support I've had. It learns Eerie Impulse, Growl, Flash and has Static. No kills, but it almost carries the whole team.
Amaura is the sweeper. A horrible typing combination usually, but not here (except against Steven). Learns Calm Mind, Iron Defense, Ancient Power and lots of other cool moves.

Sidney:
>tyrogue kills scrafty with counter
>mareep debuffs mandibuzz so grimer can setup with minimize and acid armor and sweep

Phoebe:
>mareep debuffs banette, venipede throws all the spikes on the battlefield
>amaura sets up and sweeps

Glacia:
>grimer kills abomasnow with poison jab
>we wait until the hailstorm is over
>mareep puts vanilluxe to -6 sp. attack
>vanilluxe goes into panic mode and starts spamming mirror coat (lol)
>amaura sets up and sweeps

Drake:
>mareep debuffs altaria
>amaura setup and sweep

Steven:
>mareep debuffs skarmory, venipede throws spikes (toxic spikes only affect carbink here, so not necessary)
>oshawott sets up and sweeps

All time KO top:
30 / 30: Tentacool, Hippopotas, Rufflet
29: Teddiursa, Rhyhorn
27 - 28: Tyrunt, Skorupi, Pawniard
23 - 25: Stunky, Gligar, Shellder, Bronzor
18 - 20: Mienfoo, Anorith

I made a fun little goal for my post-game playthroughs: I will catch, trade, and raise new Pokémon and use them to defeat the Pokémon League rematches. This means the previous Hall of Famers will be banned for the rematches. I'll keep the 1st catch per route rule because more interesting to limit myself.

I just lost my nuzlocke.

First I lost Pansage to a fishermans Basculin though it was technically killed by the Sandstorm and while Sewaddle evolved into Swadloon, I did lose Blitzle to a Harlequins Venipede using Poison Tail. I was atleast able to beat the third gym leader Burgh, Pignite using Flame Charge to take out Whirlipede and Leavanny while using Arm Thrust to take out Dwebble but later in the Desert Resort, I lost my starter to a Rangers Ducklett knowing Aerial Ace and I then knew I was fucked when the next Ranger sent out a Darumaka against my Swadloon and took it out with Fire Punch. My nuzlocke is over.

It's a shame, I really did have bad luck. I was gonna do X next but I quite like the Unova games and autumn is my favourite season so I'm gonna do White 2 next because I didn't get far in Black.

RIP to all the pokemon that died in Unova.

Just began my White 2 nuzlocke.

My starter is Tepig again and I caught a Sewaddle and a Lillipup at Floccesy Ranch as well as beat the first gym leader Cheren by having Tepig use Defense Curl six times before taking out Patrat and his Lillipup with Ember. I would later lose Lillipup to a Youngsters Patrat using Bide but Tepig did evolve into Pignite before the second gym leader Roxie and was able to take out both her Koffing and Whirlipede with Flame Charge. That's basically it for now.

Here's hoping I succeed this time.

Hmm. This is not a nuzlocke or a "run". It's one single save file to see which littlemons can beat the AS final gauntlet. It just has similar rules to a nuzlocke when it goes from Sidney until we beat the Champion. I started it as a littlemon nuzlocke, but with "I can save before an important fight but I have to find a deathless strat".
I was playing this on my own for a while when I saw the thread and
>What are you running?
>Are you doing a weird ruleset? And if so, what is it?
I guess it's a weird enough ruleset (and no one has told me to go away anyway heh).
I'm not sure if I understood what you meant. But yeah, I'm not that hardcore to start a new nuzlocke run with these rules over and over again if that's what you meant lol

I managed to beat the fifth gym leader Clay but at a unfortunately cost. First I sent out Ducklett against Krokorok and used Bubble Beam but Ducklett nearly died so I had Leavanny finish off Krokorok with Razor Leaf and he also used Razor Leaf to one shot Sandslash. I then sent out my Excadrill against his Excadrill, mine landed a powerful Dig but his used Bulldoze and my Excadrill was killed instantly which really upset me as I lost a powerful ally. Pignite finished of his Excadrill with Heat Crash and I beat Clay. Later Zorua evolved into Zoroark and I caught a Volcarona at Relic Castle.

Rest easy Vela, you tried your best.

Yeah, Excadrill is a rough loss. Fair warning about Volcarona, it has a really lousy level up learnset, but you can learn Signal Beam from a move tutor in Driftveil in the house west of the Pokecenter for four red shards, which you should be able to reach without grinding dust clouds at this point. You might just have to go back to previous routes, 4, the Desert Resort, and the Relic Passage.
>>
Methinks every Pokémon trainer should be "reset" (so you can battle them again) in the post-game. Their Pokémon should be no less than Lv. 40 (slowly upscaled throughout the region to reach Lv. 60+), fully evolved, and be given custom move sets so they don't just end up with useless or redundant moves. The same should apply to Gym Leaders, who accept rematches, but their Pokémon should be Lv. 60+, and obviously the Elite Four at Lv. 70+. It really is sad to retread the region and see all the idle NPCs who were defeated in the main campaign in a state of perpetual passiveness and eternal stagnation.

why is Gyro Ball and Wring Out so bad? not only do they do no damage, but they have 5 PP as if they're broken or something. I don't get it.

Are you using Gyro Ball on an opponent who's slower than the user, or Wring Out when the opponent has low HP?
>>
>>58569538
no, and the result is ALWAYS bad. I had an opponent who used it on my Pokémon at full health and that Pokémon has a base HP stat of 110: it barely did any damage. my only memory of the moves doing relevant damage is of gen 6 Steelix (bred to have 0 IVs and speed-reducing nature) using Gyro Ball on an Aerodactyl. but that was the one and only time either of those moves did anything. maybe they're PvP moves or something because I can't find a use for either of them.

I beat the sixth gym leader Skyla. Zoroark used Foul Play to take out Swoobat while its ability, Illusion, made Swoobat think I sent out Lee, so instead of using Attract, it used Acrobatics expecting to take out my Pokémon in one hit and Zoroark avoided getting distracted by Attract. Zebstrika was able to one shot Swanna with one Discharge and Emboar took out Skarmory with Heat Crash. Later Axew evolved into Fraxure, I caught a Mienfoo and then a Frillish in Undella Bay.

Got a while until Drayden.

>>58570380
Gyro Ball does more damage the slower the user is compared to the opponent. And Wring Out does more damage the more HP the target has. So against a Blissey it would be insane.

Took time off from playing to watch the World Series. Just took care of Galaxy at the Spear Pillar. The chump Ash was no help against Mars and Jupiter, just sat there with a Munchlax while I did everything. Lost Tina to Cyrus’s Gyarados. The Wacan Berry mattered more than I thought it would. And I forgot you don’t get to reset your team before the battle, so my plan of Tina holding the Metronome and just sweeping his flyers didn’t work. One last gym left and I need to train a team member or two up for it. Brock and Mike the Onix need to be in top form.

The team after catching Dialga.

Littlemon team #37 to beat Alpha Sapphire E4 + Champ gauntlet. Level cap, no bag items, usual rules. Deathless & reliable strat
>baton pass fun team -edition
This was actually a fun and an easy team to use. Goomy is the champion and sweeper of this team. It has ok stats and good moves. Pichu has great moves as a support like Fake Out, Charm, Encore.
Panpour is all around. It can be a support or the backup for Goomy. Oh, and Lum Berry + Rest + Recycle was a fun tactics to use lol. Duskull is lurking in the back causing all kinds of mischief with Spite and other status moves. Has good defenses too.
Munna and Sentret are the Baton Passers. They can together get +6 on every stat (including Accuracy + Evasion) except Speed. And then pass it to either Goomy or Panpour.
The winning run was Goomy solo sweep, but on another day it could have been either one between him and Panpour or 50:50.
The strat is pretty much the same on every fight
>debuff their lead
>setup + baton pass, sweep
Duskull can Spite Abomasnow out of Blizzard. Pichu's Fake Out ruins Skarmory's Sturdy. Banette caused a little bit trouble by spreading Toxic before we could put up a Substitute.
Fun team!

All time KO top list:
30 / 30: Tentacool, Hippopotas, Rufflet, Goomy
29: Teddiursa, Rhyhorn
27 - 28: Tyrunt, Skorupi, Pawniard
23 - 25: Stunky, Gligar, Shellder, Bronzor
18 - 20: Mienfoo, Anorith
14 - 17: Gastly, Munchlax, Cranidos, Sneasel, Scyther, Diglett, Ferroseed, Machop, Amaura
11 - 13: Pancham, Shellos, Doduo, Staryu, Wailmer, Torchic, Slugma, Riolu, Squirtle, Binacle, Croagunk, Flabébé, Piplup

I caught a Pawniard and I beat the seventh gym leader Drayden and I did not have fun with his gym battle despite victory with no losses. Because Druddigon knew Dragon Tail, many of my pokemon kept getting switched in and out over and over again making it hard to form a strategy. Swanna landed a Surf and Leavanny landed a Leaf Blade but it was Zebstrikas Discharge that took out Druddigon. Leavanny used Leaf Blade on his Flygon but Flygon used Dragon Tail forcing Zoroark to be sent out. Zoroark managed to take out Flygon with Foul Play and luckily enough, Zoroark managed to take out his Haxorus with one Foul Play thanks to landing a crit, lucky as many of my pokemons HP was low.

Alright I'm tired. Goodnight guys, gonna continue tomorrow.

I caught a Sneasel at the Giant Chasm and I beat the final gym leader Marlon. Leavanny took out Carracosta with Leaf Blade, Zebstrika took out Wailord with Wild Charge and Zoroark took out Jellicent with Punishment.

Any advice for Colress and Ghetsis?
>>
>>58574807
For me it was his Weavile.
>>
>>58575654
I'm not sure if your ruleset allows it but I'd pick up some X-items at the Department Store. Driftveil also has Moo-Moo Milks and Energy Roots.

for Colress, remember that:
>Magneton has Eviolite
>Magneton and Magnezone both have Sturdy
>Klingklang has Air Balloon
>Magnezone has Explosion
>Metang has Rock Slide
for Ghetsis:
>Drapion has Sniper
>Hydreigon has Life Orb
>Seismitoad, Elektross, and Toxicroak are mixed attackers with coverage moves
you really don't want Ghetsis' Pokémon to live long because that's when the critical hits and/or Life Orb damage start taking its toll. his Cofagrigus is RIPE for set up, if you have the right typing (steel).

honestly, Kyurem is also a fight worth considering. you have the fire/fighting-type starter so hopefully you'll be okay. good luck!!

Beaten Neo Team Plasma. While beating them, Fraxure evolved into Haxorus and Emboar was able to beat all three of Zinzolins ice pokemon. Then I beat Colress. Emboar was able to take out Magnezone and Magneton with Flamethrower and Zoroark was able to take out Beheeyem and Metang with Punishment but there was just one problem, I thought Zebstrika could take out Klinklang with Fire Charge but unfortunately Zebstrika fell to a Klinklangs Giga Impact. Emboar avenged Zebstrika by taking out the gears with Flamethrower. After beating Colress, I added Sneasel to my team as a replacement and even evolved her into Weavile while wasting some rare candies on her to help her catch up and I even taught her Ice Beam. Then I would take on Ghetsis himself. Zoroark was able to take down Cofagrigus with Foul Play, Swanna took down Drapion with Surf, Haxorus nearly died to his Eelektross though and Dragon Pulse didn't do much damaged so I switched to Zoroark who beat Eelektross with Foul Play, Leavanny one shotted Seismitoed with Leaf Blade and Swanna took out Toxicroak with Aerial Ace. Unfortunately up against Ghetsis Hydreigon, Weavile tried to use Ice Beam but it didn't get a chance and was taken out by Rock Slide. Emboar took out Hydreigon with Arm Thrust and soon Ghetsis was defeated.

Unfortunately I lost Zebstrika and Weavile. Who should I add to my team to fill in the slot?

All I have in the reserves are Volcarona, Pawniard, Frillish, Litwick and Mienfoo.

Do you anons ever look back and think about how the Nuzlocke is 4chan's greatest contribution to the Pokemon community?

Zoroark should be able to defeat Shauntal and Caitlin. Pig should be able to defeat Grimsley. Donald should be able to fight Marshall but beware of Stone Edge and the extra critical hit chance. What you really need to worry about is the Champion, who has a Focus Sash on her Haxorus.

putting aside maybe Lugia (because it practically solos the Elite 4), I was trying to put HEAVY emphasis on availability. obviously, Usaring is better than Dunsparce in a void, but you find Dunsparce before the first gym and Usaring after you reach the 8th gym.

I didn't take encounter rates into account, so Dunsparce should probably be a lot lower. also, Tentacruel basically solo'd the Elite 4 and champion effortlessly in my last run so it should be much higher.

That's why I specified Crystal. On that, I wish HGSS had kept the early Teddiursa/Phanpy encounters, it wpuld help alleviate the repetitive feeling of early Johto encounters.
Honestly, to me, making a Nuzlocke tier list is pretty involved. There's a lot you have to consider. Availability, encounter rate, overall learnset, whether it's even available before post game/without dupes clause. And even then sometimes it comes down to personal preferences, no o e will argue that Tentacruel and Gyarados are phenomenal, but someone might argue that Milotic in Platinum isn't worth the effort to catch despite having everything else going for it, or that Volcarona in BW2 is mid tier because of its leveling learnset. There's just so much you can do with it.

I got sick of the characters yapping so I'm playing blaze black 2 (no EVs) instead. I'm """nuzlocking""", but not doing perma-death because it's challenging enough as it is for me.
I permitted myself to catch a male ralts -- I originally started on an old version and got one there, and didn't realise until the mystery egg guy wasn't at the ranch -- because I was keen to use gallade, but the one I caught here is modest so now I have... other plans...

How do I reconcile my enjoyment of challenge runs with my instinctive need to complete the pokedex?
>>
>>58590185
The Professor Oak Challenge run, or whatever it is called. Get each Pokémon you can before getting a badge, including evolutions.
>>
>>58590279
I've thought about doing that at points, but looking at what's involved, it boils down to frontloading the grindiest parts of a livingdex run, just to do it for the sake of doing it.
I don't really consider it a "challenge", because it just boils down to being patient, rather than skill.
Different strokes for different folks.

Like, there are pokemon in games that are available early at shitty rates, then later you can obtain them more easily. It makes no sense to me to go for a 1% seedot on route 102 when you can just snag an extra ralts and trade in rustboro

Littlemon team #38 to beat Alpha Sapphire's E4 + Champ.
Level cap, no bag items, deathless & reliable strategy, usual nuz rules
>get in, we're beating the pokemon league -edition
No, not really. More like
>minccino the surprising hero -episode
So Minccino sweeps the whole gauntlet. I didn't expect this, but then again nothing ever goes as planned. It learns such good moves like Calm Mind + a bunch of special attacks. And outspeeds everything. I'm starting to think that Speed is the most important stat on this challenge.
Zubat learns some good troll moves like Confuse Ray and Attract & Toxic Protect. Sunkern is an ok support too with Flash and Leech Seed. Weedle resists some opponents' moves and has Rocky Helmet or Sticky Barb. Noibat has Super Fang and some other supporting moves. She was the last Dragon Pokemon I can use on this challenge.

strategy:
Nothing much to say here. Debuff & setup and Mincc sweeps
>sidney -> dazzling gleam
>phoebe -> thunderbolt
>glacia -> thunderbolt
>drake -> dazzling gleam
>steven -> grass knot

I misspoke (it was late and I tired): Sun and Moon have lots of good qualities like the music and character designs. The constant dialogue/ cutscenes/ hand-holdy-ness did bring down the experience but the exploration was also lacking. The routes were grossly oversimplified, and I seem to recall the tutorial being 4-hours long but that can't be right...

I haven't tried the Ultra games because my bad experience with Moon. I've seen reviews saying they had weaker stories than the first game because they cut some scenes (like Jellyfish Lusamine) and changed others. I'm not sure if the Ultra games retcon of the original SM or if it's a parallel universe. Apparently, you become Alola's first champion in both games so it can't be a sequel.

The biggest thing about nuzlocking them is the text-heavy dialogue. There's no way to skip cutscenes iirc so nuzlocking them through trial and error would be miserable for me.
>>
>>58598907
For me, i enjoyed my last playthrough when the game actually let me play and wasn't interrupting me with cutscenes and railroading me to said cutscenes. And.considering that basically every route has a cutscene, yeah.
>>
>>58599952
>>58600766
I've played Pokémon Sun on emulator very recently with Instant Text speed (can be set up in PkHex by going to Block Data>Tab_Raw>Config and setting TalkingSpeed to 3) and 60FPS patch (which actually makes the game run twice as fast without distorting the music).
I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to replay Gen VII, it really does make a world of difference.
If you want even more speed up on the latest emulator there is also an option to speed up the game without distorting the audio, the only time the speed up doesn't work are on the "cinematic" cutscenes, which aren't that frequent anyway.

Hello everyone, I'm back.

I was away for four days because I was at a convention in Sheffield. I tried to make friends but it's really a struggle to make friends and I still felt alone at the convention but I did try to have fun. I feel like my appearance isn't good so it did leave me feeling depressed but I didn't try to kill myself this time.

Anyway back to my nuzlocke, I forget to catch Klink in Chargestone Cave so I went back there to catch Klink and I also evolved it into Klang and I haven't done Victory Road yet.

Any advice for Victory Road? And any advice for the Elite Four and Champion?
>>
>>58605486
adding to my advice from >>58579350 the Unovan Elite 4 (with the exception of Marshall) are very easy to set up against if you have a Steel-type in the lead. I don't know if your ruleset allows it, but X-items trivializes those fights.

The true problem is the Champion. The Hydreigon lead has a variety of coverage options to stop you from setting up. Maybe Pig can kill it before it gets a chance to use Surf but what she sends out next is anyone's guess.

Right now my team is Emboar, Leavanny, Swanna, Zoroark, Haxorus and Klinglang. I do have a Volcarona, Litwick, Pawniard, Zweilous, Mienfoo and Frillish but they are in the reserves meaning if I lose a battle, i can still try and beat them with my reserves though it will probably be difficult.

Wish me good luck.

Roamers are legit as long as they're the first encounter, but when are you actually gonna encounter a roamer on a route yoy haven't caught anything on? Gift and egg mons can be considered the catch of their area, but most aren't competing with anything in towns and cities either.

Unfortunately I lost my nuzlocke.

I was able to beat the elite four however I did lose Zoroark to Caitling and Haxorus to Marshal. Heres how my battle against Iris went.

First I had Emboar use Arm Thrust on Hydreigon but it wasn't enough and Surf nearly took out Emboar. I then sent out Klinglang hoping to use Gear Grind but Flanethrower nearly took out Klinglang too. I decided to heal Emboar and sacrifice Klinglang who was finished off. Emboar came out and avenged the gear pokemon by taking out Hydreigon with Arm Thrust.

Next came Aggron, I was hoping Emboar could take out Aggron in one hit with Arm Thrust, I was wrong and Aggron finished off Emboar with Earthquake, killing my very own starter. Swanna finished off Aggron with Surf.

Leavanny was actually able to take out Lapras without taking damage using Protect to protect himself from Ice Beam and Sing while using a Leaf Storm and then a Leaf Blade to take out Lapras.

Swanna tried to take out Druddigon with Hurricane and I was hoping for a confusion but unfortunately Druddigon took out Swanna with Rock Slide. Leavanny avenged Swanna with Leaf Blade.

Finally Iris sent out Archeops against my lone pokemon Leavanny. Acrobatics killed Leavanny in one hit.

I decided to try the elite four again with the pokemon in my reserves but I still lost and so my nuzlocke ends here.

NTA, but i can see why someone wouldn't like it. The gyms are easy, not a lot happens between the third and seventh gyms, the rivals are all mediocre, most of the challenege comes from getting ambushed by npc trainers like the Dragon Rage Axew and double Furfrou trainers. It has a great selection of mons, that's Kalos' biggest strength.

Pokemon gaia, third attempt, last one was lost on the mege-evolution tower. Got lucky with the early catch
>>
>>58607934
Man, it always sucks to lose right at the end, but you got pretty far with few casualties. As long as you're conscious about the problem trainers in X you should get far there as well.

Just began my X nuzlocke.

I picked Froakie to be my starter, I caught a Fletchling, a Scatterbug that evolved into a Spewpa, I beat the first gym leader Viola in which Fletchling helped with Peck, I caught a Flabebe, Froakie evolved into a Frogadier, I received a Charmander from Sycamore and Spewpa evolved into Vivillion.

So I'm at a good start.

Also I'm well aware of which trainers are hard like the two that have a Furfrou.

if you're talking about "hardcore" nuzlocke youtubers, they 100% hack in infinite rare candies to skip grinding

Not even that I know those motherfuckers lie about deaths because they always skip the evil team segments where you have to deal with self destruct spam.

nvm it's probably gen 2 since you're playing crystal legacy. I don't remember any Self-Destruct spam because I always kill them in 1 hit.

It's not my fault Gamefreak friend-walled some of the best Pokémon in the game! Locking evolution stones to the post-game is beyond unfair! IT'S NOT MY FAULT I DON'T HAVE ANY FRIENDS so I'm going to enjoy the game's content to its fullest even if it means being a BIG FAT STINKY CHEATER!

Here's my current progress.

I caught a Skiddo even though hes in the reserves because grass types are not good in Kalos, Charmander evolved into Charmeleon, I caught a Honedge who was named Joan of Arc since this is the French region and Honedge is medieval in design and Flabebe evolved into Floette.

Of course I was able to beat the two trainers with Furfrou no problem and now the only real problem in the early game is mabye Grant and that trainer who has a Axew, I have a fairy type though.

That's the sixth trial completed! Once Baiduri set up Reflect, Pyxis switched in, popped a X Sp. Atk, and started blasting with Flash Cannons. Not even the Totem could withstand more than two, and that was just because of the Disguise ability. I'm sure it'd be a lot tougher if I weren't an item-using coward.
>>
I had an idea for a new rule, 'deferment'
Essentially, when you go into a route, before encountering anything, you can choose to defer the encounter for the route, so you catch nothing on it while you're there.
The idea is that if you just don't want to catch anything, and you maybe just want to grind or grab items, you can.
Obviously, you could abuse the wording of this and repels overlap a lot with the intent, but I'm imagining this as a convenience and that you use your best judgement with invoking it.

Here's my progress so far.

I caught a Inkay and a Helioptile but I lost Inkay to a Team Flare Grunts Scraggy using Karate Chop. I received a Jaw Fossil and restored it to receive a Tyrunt and I even caught a Eevee.

I did beat the second gym leader Grant with no problem. Frogadier used Water Pulse on his Amaura and Floette used Fairy Wind on his Tyrunt.

With Grant out of the way, any advice for Korrina?

I'm going to play Scarlet, but don't really feel like nuzlocking, per se
what other gimmick challenge can I do?
>>
>>58616605
Send out Honedge against her. Korrins only has one move on Machoke that can actually hit it.
>>
>>58617292
I'm thinking either NFEs or single-stage mons only...
I've done a couple of NFE runs before; pic related was the closest I got to beating Cynthia in BD. The thought of a pikachu trying to beat a garchomp head to head always makes me lol

Unfortunately I lost Floette to Serenas Absol that used Slash but Fletchinder evolved into Talonflame and Frogadier evolved into Greninja. I was able to beat the third gym leader Korrina with ease, first I had Honedge spam Sword Dance while her Mienfoo couldn't land a hit, I then had Honedge defeat Minfoo and Hawlucha with ease while Talonflame took out Machoke with Peck. I would then beat Korrina again with Lucario and receive Lucario that can Mega evolve and finally I unfortunately lost Helioptile to a a swimmers Qwilfish that used a surprise Revenge but that's okay. I'm doing good.
>>
>>58617299
Thanks for the advice, never knew that two of Korrinas pokemon only know fighting and normal attacks. It's always a shame when a gym leaders pokemon can't harm some pokemon depending on typing, I think it's poor fame design.

Well, the CHEATlocke is over. I tried the bug catching contest with Gastly and failed to catch Butterfree, whose only move was Confusion. Gastly missed Hypnosis at low HP and was killed, causing me to black out. I didn't respawn at the Pokémon Center like normal, but it still counts. It was fun while it lasted.

Here's my team so far. Couldn't really decide which of the two restrictions to go for, so I'm doing both (as long as the single stagers are shitmons. As for which of the two classifications stantler falls under: "haha, I don't really know.")
Bisharp seems like an obvious choice, but pawniard doesn't evolve until level 52 so if I decide I want to use one I'll just wait until the late game area rather than catching one on route 5.
Hydrapple is one I'll probably use too.

This is my progress.

Honedge evolved into Doublade but I unfortunately got into a double battle with a Skytrainer who's Pelipper washed my Talonflame away with Water Pulse so RIP Robin.

I did catch a Binacle at Azure Bay and I was able to beat the fourth gym leader Ramos, Doublade took out Jumpluff and Gogoat with Aerial Ace while Charmeleon took out Weepinbel with Fire Fang and later Skiddo evolved into Gogoat.

So not much has happened aside from losing Talonflame.
