The "bed" scene of the short sparked two sides:

>She's human-like so she should have a bed
>Pokemon are pets so that's only natural

Which one is more valid?
>>
Gardevoir's have always had the ability to mind-control their masters, so if it wanted a bed it would've mindfucked it's master to have the bed
>>
>>58520031
Canonically Gardevoirs sleep on their knees

They don't NEED a human bed.
>>
>>58520031
She should be in bed with her trainer.

Gardevoir prefer sleeping either standing or sitting. It's akin to a royal guard sleeping over their prince/princess.
>>
>>58520031
It's a male Gardevoir albeit
>>
>>58520141
No such thing exists in official Pokemon media, especially now that Gallade exists. All Gardevoirs that appear can be safely assumed to be female.
>>
>>58520031
Gardevoirs are sentient, psychic creatures that are able to both understand and sort of say whether they want or do not want something. Clearly this means she's into being treated like a pet

>>
>>58520191
Wally doesn't have a Gardevoir anymore, he has a Gallade. And USUM's Rainbow Rocket come from dimensions where the evil team leaders succeeded in their goals, so no, they're not canon.
>>
>>58520170
that's definitely true when its a female trainer but adaptations go even harder on matching trainer and pokemon genders than the games do. and on the whole it nips romantic implications in the bud in the context of a kiddy franchise.
>>
>>58520199
>but adaptations go even harder on matching trainer and pokemon genders than the games do.
This is your headcanon. If this trainer's Ralts was male he would've gotten a Gallade. That's how this works.
>>
>>58520208
Gardevior can be male, sorry to tell you, you can still fap to it, you'd just be gay if you do.
>>
>>58520031
Neither are correct. That thing should ne in its ball.
>>
>>58520223
>Gardevior can be male
But no official depictions will ever show male Gardevoir. I don't understand why you're not getting it. If media wants to show a male Ralts it will show a Gallade instead. Male Gardevoirs, to TPC, effectively do not exist. Ergo the one in Together with Gardevoir is female.
>>

>>58520198
>And USUM's Rainbow Rocket come from dimensions where the evil team leaders succeeded in their goals, so no, they're not canon.
But they effectively canonize themselves by entering USUM, instead of existing purely as a hypothetical what-if. By virtue of existing, they PROVE the what-if exists somewhere out there in the multiverse.
>>
>>58520031
The only reason why anyone likes Gardevoir is because they saw Wally get one, and they wanted one themselves. It also helps the mon is pretty strong
>>
>>58520252
That hypothetical what-if might as well cease to exist the moment they leave it, and in the case of Archie and Maxie Hoenn was destroyed by Groudon and Kyogre, so Wally's dead anyway and we'll never see what he has there.
>>
>>58520236
because the trainer is male that would only be true if they were fine with all the jokes that the two are fucking which they definitely aren't. the gender matching is so partner can assumed to be best buddies instead even if they go ham on romantic languag

Gardevoir is also just mroe prominent overall than gallade in teh first place.
>>
>>58520031
Wasn't that the point? The beginning he treated Gardevoir like an object. Even throwing it in the back of the van. Then later put in the passenger seat
>>
>>58520228
Pokeballs are for adventure, or for really big pokemon.
When you're at home then leaving your pokemon out of the ball is the normal.
>>
>>58520031
>>She's human-like so she should have a bed
>>Pokemon are pets so that's only natural
It's not even that. Gardevoir sleep standing up or kneeling. He literally does not need a bed.

>Gardevoir frequently sleeps upright so it's able to protect people or Pokémon at any moment.
Objectively speaking, unless you live in a walled garden paradise where nothing goes wrong ever, Gardevoir would prefer a sleeping arrangement that allows it to sit comfortably, that way it can awaken and immediately spring into action if it picks up on any signs of danger.
If you did have absolute paradise however, a bed would probably be alright, since Gardevoir would no longer see it necessary to sleep in a reactive, defensive position as often as it normally does.
>>
>>58520296
Hence the mat for his knees.
>>
>>58520265
>that would only be true if they were fine with all the jokes that the two are fucking which they definitely aren't
Anon Gardevoir's flashback shows the trainer on one knee while affixing the Mega Stone to Gardevoir's hairclip and showing his Key Stone. It's clearly framed as a proposal, further hinting the Gardevoir is female. This is not hard to grasp.
>>
>>58520254
I like it a lot, ralts is basically wally in pokemon form, very weak and needs to babied into kirlia, then it becomes only semi capable, it also eats exp like crazy, you really have to put in work to get Gardevior and it finally becomes good, it's like a more involved magikarp.
>>
>>58520322
>its clearly [HEAD CANON]
It was clearly, and literally, a man giving his pokemon a mega stone to hold. Are you proposing to Feraligatr every time you give him a mega stone? No, of course not. Stop being ridiculous.
>>
>>58520331
>and it finally becomes good
No, no.
>>
>>58520322
the gardevoir is shorter than him so he was getting down to eye level. but matching their gender is exactly why they could do shit like that and always have plausible deniability.

>>
>>58520338
Feraligatr is not frequently framed as a damsel character, nor has a species gender dimorphance so large as a completely separate evolution like Gallade. Stop being disingenuous, you already know all this.

>gender dimorphance so large as a completely separate evolution like Gallade
Gallade is a separate evolution for Kirlia. Gardevoir itself has no dimorphism between male and female. You know this. You just don't want to acknowledge it because it ruins your headcanon.
>>
>>58520388
>Gallade is a separate evolution for Kirlia. Gardevoir itself has no dimorphism between male and female.
I told you to stop being disingenuous. Because all Gallades are male, they are effectively the final evolution for male Ralts, which makes Gardevoir the final evolution for female Ralts. Again, male Gardevoirs do not exist to TPC, and you won't find an animated one.

Correct, Gardevoir is a waifu character. The flaps on its legs are described as like a dress, the green parts of its head are likened to hair and not a helmet. It's a loyal servant, but a knight character it is not.
>>
Why didn't they still Gardevoir with ash in his championship run?
>>
>>58520409
>I told you to stop being disingenuous. Because all Gallades are male, they are effectively the final evolution for male Ralts
No, they aren't. Male Ralts can just as easily end up as a Gardevoir. In fact, it's more likely that they'll be a Gardevoir because Dawn Stones are required for a Gallade and are not a common item.
>which makes Gardevoir the final evolution for female Ralts.
True. A female Ralts can only be a Gardevoir. But this does not mean that all Gardevoir are female. As a male Ralts can evolve into Gardevoir.
>Again, male Gardevoirs do not exist to TPC
Again, that is literally your headcanon.
>and you won't find an animated one.

TPC could have used literally any other Pokemon with a noble, protective personality and a Mega Evolution for this story but they specifically chose Gardevoir with a male trainer. Hell, they could've used Gallade. But no, they chose Gardevoir.
Let that speak for itself what the intention was above all else.
>>
>>58520480
Female trainer with gallade is way hotter
>>
>>58520454
as canon as oak being obliterated through gravitational spaghettification
>>
>>58520480
That they used a pokemon known for its protective tendencies to act as its trainers knight in shining (mega evolution) armor. Yeah, the intention is clear.
>>
>>58520470
>Not a Gallade
>Wears a wedding dress when mega evolved
>Appears in official media published by TPC
There's no headcanon here, it's just reality. Male Gardevoirs are the true headcanon.
>>
>>58520505
Again, they could've used Gallade. It's just as virtuous and protective, and is even MORE of a knight in shining armor than Gardevoir is by virtue of actually using blade techniques, whereas Gardevoir is a knight only in name, because its techniques are more akin to that of a mage.
>>
>>58520454
The usual VA probably wasn't avaiable so they just picked someone random and just improvised on the spot.
>>
>It will dedicate itself to defending a master it has come to adore. Its pure white dress, reminiscent of those worn by ladies of nobility, is the dress of one who is willing to risk their life.
>>
>>58520520
gallade isn't even half as popular as gardevoir would be the biggest reason
>>
But why is Gardevoir so obsessed with protecting its trainer anyway?
>>
>>58520526
This is the new ZA pokedex entry.
They're getting really explicit with the feminine view.
>>

A trainer giving his pokemon a mega stone to reaffirm the bond that was shaken by their defeat at the earlier tournament.
>>
>>58520480
They used Gardevoir because their statistics showed them that it's highly popular, far more than Gallade. I doubt they put much thought into it beyond that.
>>
>>58520763
You misinterpreted the entire sequence of events, Gardevoir had her mega stone during the tournament. The crystal cave scene took place before it. After the tournament Gardevoir's trainer retired and took a job as a deliveryman.
>>
>>58520779
No. They wanted to sell merchandise. Found a semi popular pokemon without an appearance and made the short.

Or someone found a warehouse of Gardevoir plushies and Nintendo needed to get rid of it
>>
>>58520537
Their species is into protecting others in general.
>Gardevoir frequently sleeps upright so it's able to protect people or Pokémon at any moment.
>True to its honorable-warrior image, [Gallade] has been discovered sleeping in a formal position with one knee up. Perhaps even in its sleep, it's preparing to fight so that it can protect people or Pokémon at any time.
Maybe it's just part of their culture and they see it as a cool and noble thing to do.

>>58520580
>This is the one for ZA
>[recycled entries]

>>
>>58520464
Or it could just be they changed Gardevoir’s concept over time to conform and pander to people who thought Gardevoir was a pretty lady, and not a knight
>>
>No, they didn't pick THE girl pokemon for romantic undertones, that's just in your head
lol
>>
In gen 10 they'll make a female only kirlia evolution which has pigtails and wields a double bladed weapon, retroactively making Iron Valiant a fusion of three different pokemon: Gardevoir, Gallade, and the female only evolution.
>>
>>58520940
You wouldn't need a bladed weapon, Valiant's twinblade is formed from its arm blades, like Mega Gallade's. Just go all-in on Kirlia's ballerina motif with pigtails and a staff for a dancing Pokemon.
>>
>>58520791
That does reframe the scene. But at it's core it's still a trainer giving his pokemon a mega stone to affirm a bond.

What do you mean by human-like? If by merely having a human-like shape, then that's not really that significant. If you mean how it's canon that all species of Pokémon have at least human-level cognition, then it may be just be that Gardevoir simply prefers to sleep like that.

Pokémon have some aspects like that of real-life animals, and some aspects not. Sure, Pokémon can be pets, it's just not exactly the same as a real-life animal being a pet.
