This means multiplayer is gatekept to the end game since you also need to min max, and most people don't have time (normalfags with lives outside of games) or just want to take their time playing through the game that far to try to get the mega stone prize.

Real answer here - they are adjusting rewards and points system in season 2. The most likely outcome is that people ranked up to rank A too fast so they are slowing down the progress to make people grind longer, also I suspect they are uping the rewards so the grind is at least netting you something.
This also explains why they dropped the mega stone requirement from K to S if they are making grind longer.

The Galactic Readiness score had a fucking multiplier that did fuck all if you didn't do multiplayer and If you wanted to get anywhere close to the best version of any ending you had to import a save that went through both ME1 and 2 and did as much as possible to get extra bits of score.
