Well there are a lot (if you don't mind the language barrier), there is the scarle and violet hack that has all the mons along map and all the goodies, then you have fire red extended with all the mons but is quite shitty due to the whole anti cheat of you use save editor because author thought "i have an idea will add more trainers because difficulty is quite easy by default" and then went full retard by checking the rom on hexmaniac with author going "i will make brook a bit more challenging he will have 3 mons at lvl 45, misty is too easy so i will add a few mons that she had according to gigaleak so i will add her a machamp at lvl 50 along her classic mons like psyduck, starmie and staryu at lvl 65" and similar shit like that.

Heart&Soul literally just dropped and it's a Gen 3 demake of HGSS, not sure if it has R button throwing but it's easily the most modernized version of Johto.
Scorched Silver also exists but it's a sequel to the original games that adds every Pokemon and some extra areas, so if you want to play the original Johto story it wouldn't work.

And without any amateur game balance mistakes like thinking you balance a game by giving every Pokemon ever access to the best signature moves ever and give the player easy access to the strongest Pokemon ever as early as possible.

Also I have no EVs, foes have EVs scaling based on badges, and we all have perfect IVs.
I played the game up to the Falkner fight, killed his level 8 Pidgey, then got killed by his level 11 Noctowl who two-shots everything I have, even the Onix I traded a Bellsprout for.
I have no methods of changing my strategy or using TMs or HMs or trade evolutions or different party Pokemon.
The only Pokemon I have who should beat Flying lack any Typed moves that beat Flying.
Nobody resists Flying except Onix the useless bastard.

I tried again stacking my team of level 8 babies with electric-type Pokemon. Mareep and Pichu are my only options. Mareep knows zero electric moves at level eight. Pichu is a weak piece of shit who dies in 2 hits from Pidgey and 1 hit from Noctowl. I cannot progress any further than this town until I beat the Gym Leader. This is bullshit. If a game offers a built-in challenge it should always give you the tools to beat it. That's game design 101. That's a lesson they might not even bother to teach in game design school because they assume it's obvious. What kind of retard adds a mode like this to a game without playtesting it? Emerald Rogue 2, is an incredibly "updated" sequel hack built from, I believe, entirely different code. Honestly, it's so much of an improvement that you might as well add it instead of the original. Compromise and have a "Wave" type? Both sound waves and light waves (all across the non visible spectrum) can be fitted into one type. They can still embody the more spiritual aspects of light and music while also fitting the scientific aspects. Earthquake and magnitude might be a little weird and overlap slightly as well as the traditional sound moves (and a few light adjacent things like signal beam), but maybe that can be a property of the "Wave" type, where depending on which deals more damage, it can be either type? Or maybe the entirety of the offensive Wave type is determined by other types, while the users get stab as well as unique defensive properties. Almost like the inverse of the Stellar type.

A lot of the types can serve multiple themes. Flying for wind and birds, Ground for mud, clay, sand, or bone, Grass for all kinds of plant and fungi.
I do agree that there isn't a whole lot of wiggle room when it comes to adding on to the existing type chart. Popular choices like Sound already exist as a move property.

Going off that, fairy is just trying to be the opposite of Evil by being something inherently good-natured, which is why Gardevoir got the Fairy type, since it's meant to be a noble knight (hence its japanese name being literally Sir Knight). Well Fighting type kinda works like a Hero type sometimes, but it's mostly a Martial Arts/Physical type.
The only mons I can thing of that fit the "Hero" bill would be the Swords of Justice, Chesnaught, Sirfetch'd, the Zamas Dogs and Iron Valiant

Yeah no matter how you slice it, the Hero type just isn't intuitive. Fairy at least has the benefit of being associated with cute or beautiful things, as well as being vaguely associated with bugs. There's a lot more to go off than the vague concept of being heroic. Light is really the only appropriate opposite of Dark/Evil linguistiucally, but it's a lot harder to associate something with Light than it is with Dark. Sunflora being a Grass/Light type would be pretty funny to see though.

Maybe pokemon doesn't work with a "holy" type? Even dark types aren't truly evil like aspects you'd have in other rpgs. Pokemon are "monsters" yes, but they function quite similarly to animals. The equivalent of the creator, doesn't seem to concerned with moral goodness nearly as much as protecting the fabric of space time. Pure morality generally seems to be less of a factor in pokemon lore. No Pokemon should be a "holy" type, as they are all capable of good and evil.
