So, which gen offers the most replayability, in terms of potential paths and side paths, team building, etc. Not the highest quality content, but the most general player autonomy?Leave genwar and favoritism at the door.
>>58541390My favorite
>>585413901 2 and 9
>>58541390By those requirements, SV would be the only answer desu
>>58541390SV
>>58541390RSE, BW2 and XY for the main campaign and teambuilding options, HGSS/Platinum and Emerald for the Battle Frontier and specifically the Battle Factory. Every game with the factory (or in general a good rental facility) makes the game infinitely replayable imi
Paldea obviously.
>>58541390>B2W2 has pretty good mon varity, it has some neat nooks and crannys with the sewers, early volcorona, move relearner, hidden grottos. Pretty linear overall still.>XY has a pretty large varity of pokemon, it feels more linear but I think it's fun more for going fast than exploration, probably the only pokemon game I've replayed for the purpose of getting to the end as fast as possible, that also makes up for the small post game.>HGSS is less linear but it suffers from weird level scaling, and a weaker encounter table, but is pretty jampacked with content and you can a lot in Kanto in particular.>RBGYHave probably the most freedom if count glitches allowing to tackle Kanto itself in many ways, but obviously it's gen 1 so the mon varity is MUCH lower than it is now.>SM/USUMHave a good varity but the pace of them game is so slow, I replayed it and I decided I wanted get Diglet, and the stupid stoutland guy won't let me just enter the cave to catch one, they could have just had an NPC in the cave prevent me from going to the other side or something just let me build my team, I replayed these games recently and my opinion of them shot down, they were very painful to replay I'd only suggest playing them once.
>>58541390B2/W2, X/Y, OR/AS, and S/V for playthroughs. Emerald, Platinum, and HG/SS for extra content beyond just the main game.
>>58541530>Battle Frontier and specifically the Battle Factory. To me that’s basically a requirement for a highly replayable game or even just a decent postgame. BW2 comes close with the World Tournament but it’s not nearly as difficult.
>>58541390
>>58541584Yeah, i never played the BW2 rental mode of PWT that much so im not sure, but iirc the pool was more limited and the teams were filled with NFEs
>>58541509>>58541522loosely fits the description but even by your own admission, not really. Like being dropped in the middle of a field and being told you have infinite directions, and that that is comparable to being dropped in the middle of a city, with streets and alleys to choose from.
>>58541530>>58541570the correct answers, thread over
>>58541671You make no sense.
>>58541530No game before BW2 has good enough good options for a truly varied playthrough ino. And even then, it really begins with XY regarding the amount of gift mons and dex variety that you get mainly due to the fact that the new gen mons are below 100. Like maybe its just my personal autism but when you get eevee in kanto/johto or togepi in plat/hgss its very hard to not add it to the team. But all in all, i agree with both you and >>58541570 anon. The battle facilities and extra content make those other games have great long term value. I love making secret bases around hoenn and the underground while doing stupid minigames like contests and Pokéathlon as well
>>58541688Disagreeing: XLiterally too stupid to understand: DINGDINGDING
>>58541802We don't sign our posts here.
>>58541390Gen 3, probably. It has a good variety of encounters and minimal handholding.Gen 1 is a fun palette cleanser because its mechanics are so different from the later games, there is a lot to abuse in ways you can't later on.
>>58541808whos we? the waifu posters, the Z tourists, the shiny hunters, (you)? anon, (you) are a dumby. a big goof. a real fucking retard, if one is so inclined.

>>58541390Gen 1 is most replayable because of it's basic story, focused gameplay, split paths, short completion time. I like completing it every now and then.

>>58541390probably the gen you started with desu ive gone back to gen 3 numerous times. not emerald ruby and sapphire i think theyre better the stories are more coherant
>>58541390also its pretty crazy seeing every game like this makes you realise how mig pokemon is it seems pretty small when i think about them in my head
>>58543347last time I played (my) gen I made it my "definitive" playthrough so I dont wanna ruin that memory
>>58543558>my gen>can't replay itIt was gen 5 wasn't it?
>>58543636Platinum, I could replay gen 5 every year for the rest of my life, truly the peak Pokemon experience
