White people and dubs, that's why.

>Keeping "Mew vs Mewtwo" but cutting out Mew's shit talking
>>
marketing, i guess. did japan not do this for the original releases
>>
>>58542611
Localized names aren't canon, only the original jap names are canon

this will be taken in count when you try to naturalize yourself as japanese

>"Pokemon 3 the Movie"
>one (1) member of a legendary trio (Entei for some reason) runs around or some or something and also the useless Unown casting spells or some shit idk i only watched it once

should have had a Ho-Oh movie featuring all thee legendary beasts

I went to the first showing of pokemon 2000 in my town as a kid. I was at the end of the line. When I asked for a ancient mewtwo card they said they gave them all away. The worker said they didn't care about the cards to they just gave each of the first few kids as many cards as they wanted and ran out after a minute. I'm still mad about that.
>>
i sort of can't believe they got away with pokemon 3's freudian nightmare script

Ho-Oh was basically banned from starring in anything because it was the literal golden goose chase of Ash's journey, the primary motivator to keep moving forward even after how brutal his first day with the Spearow and the storm was because he was blessed with seeing a Pokemon that even Professor Oak was unfamiliar with, and he's the literal leading authority on Pokemon.
If Ash finally caught up with and encountered Ho-Oh directly, it would've necessitated another mon to become his next Golden Goose to chase.

>Canon
Titles are metatextual material so they are neither canon or noncanon.
>>
>>58544418
Why? The whole series was always about him becoming the best trainer. Him finding and encountering Ho-oh could easily fit into an arc.
>>
>>58544418
that's perfectly fine but enough time had passed where they could have had the pay off by then.

That's honestly why I really like the third movie. It's not a huge over the top doomsday story involving legendaries clashing. It's very character driven and personal. Also adult Molly is nice.
>>
>>58544418
Didn’t that literally happen in journeys, like not even that far in?
>>
>>58544418
And that's why the anime fucking tanked in views. Completely dodging set ups and giving unsatisfactory pay offs resulted in people realizing there was no actual reason to follow Ash since he was never going to achieve anything worthwhile after nearly 5 years of airtime. Even when Ash "won" it was rushed because the 20 years they spent building up to that moment didn't actually build Ash up in the slightest. He jobbed for 20 years, won once, fucked around for another few years and then was given another win before killing him off for good to say that he had an ending. It would be like if Dragon Ball went on for 20 years and every tournament Goku ever entered he would never reach finals and then suddenly when the writers gave up he defeats all of the strongest people in the universe as if to apologize for wasting everyone's time

The transition into Hoenn permanently killed the integrity of the anime and did more damage to the brand than anything else

To be fair, Goku did have a jobbing streak in the tournament finals until the end of the original series. It was justified against Jackie Chun since he already had Goku beat fair and square if not for the moon turning him into a great ape and breaking him out of the stunlock lightning technique, but Goku got robbed in the second tournament by the random truck running into him and costing him the victory against Tenshinhan.

>the strongest, coolest and most badass pokemon. Mewtwo fights the rarest pokemon, the mythical Mew
possibly one of the worst pokemon movies imo
>>
>>58545316
he should have won in xy tobias turning up with a bunch of mythicals was just retarded, his alola win was bullshit that entire season was horrible they put ash in some third world shithole that doesnt have a proper pokemon league to battle a bunch of people who dont know how to battle and make ash act like he is a retard who has never battled before and then call him a champion for winning
>>
>>58542977
No
>>
>>58542977
Some of the Japanese movies had alternate initial titles, usually to hide what Pokemon the movie was about. Movie 2 was initially announced as "Pocket Monsters the Movie: The Explosive Birth of the Mythical Pokemon X", before getting its final title "Pocket Monsters the Movie: The Explosive Birth of the Mythical Pokémon Lugia" two months later when Lugia got revealed to the public. (Remember when Lugia was called "Pokemon X"?)

Movie 5 was likewise called "Pocket Monsters the Movie 2002" for a couple months.

>tobias turning up with a bunch of mythicals
Honestly, Im pretty okay with this desu. Ash's Sinnoh era was great in general and he achieved his main goal which was winning against Paul so it wasn't like there was no closure. Tobias was bullshit but it was funny, never imagined the writers would ever pull something like that. Cheeky nod to everyone using cheats on their DS systems. He definitely should've won XY though
>>
>TO KNOW THE UNKNOWNNNNNN
>>
>>58546133
damn im getting gens mixed up probably need to rewatch the entire anime again kek, also it never clicked for me that they were making a joke out of people cheating on ds kinda cool. what happened the in the xy league i remember thinking ashes loss was super bullshit there. bear in mind i literally watched it all again like 2 years ago kek
