>Physical Electric-type the most privileged one at that, STAB wise
>still mono Electric
>still no Elemental Punches
>still no Close Combat
>still no Swords Dance nor Bulk Up
>hasn’t had Extreme Speed for generations
>only non-Electric move worth nothing are Knock Off and Play Rough…….yeah just those two
What the fuck is the appeal here?

Is there anything that can save this mon?
Hell I doubt even Huge Power can save this shitmon with how barren its physical movepool is

Whiling Raichu Y’s special movepool isn’t much better, I bet they’ll give it Electric Surge the same way they gave Charizard Y Drought

Eelektross may be slow and frail still but even that has a better physical movepool between Fire Punch, Liquidation, Drain Punch, Close Combat, U-Turn, and Coil (and also Knock Off)
>>
It's possible Raichu's movepool will be updated when Mega Dimension comes out, giving it more physical coverage.
>>
>>58549503
>Mega raichu
Who cares? people are going to use mega zeraora anyway
>>
>>58549503
They're DLC posterboys so they're probably going to have broken as fuck abilities

Like Huge Power for Raichu X and Electric Surge for Raichu Y
>>
>>58549503
So we know their stats? If not, what the fuck is the point of this topic?
>>
>>58549563
Why does that matter in a game without abilities
>>
>>58549629

Pokémon Champions
>>
>>58549642
Nah, they won't be worth shit in Champions itself.
Mega Garchomp Z and Mega Lucario Z are the real bastards that'll dominate Champions.
>>
>>58549656
Tbh I actually think the new Lucario/Garchomp/Absol will be rank battle rewards similar to Kalos starters. The mega legends will be the actual rewards for DLC. Not to say the former 3 wont be good.
>>
>>58549642
Why would you ever use a Mega over Dynamax in a competitive game
>>
>>58549753
Who says you're limited to only using one gimmick?
>>
>>58549656
I don't think we can make a definitive judgement before they're actually added to Champions and we see their abilities.
Kangaskhan was a complete shitmon before XY, and it became the most dominant mega in its format off the back of its ability alone.
>>
>>58549556
She will be quickbanned to Ubers, so no choice but using Raichu instead
>>
>>58549503
Volt Tackle goes brrrr
>>
>>58549503
I am on copium that the typings are placeholder. There is no way they'll release two megas of the same mon with identical typings.

presumably they’ll balance the gimmicks so one isn’t explicitly better
and they’ll definitely have special leagues where you’re limited on which gimmicks you can use

it’s a jackalope

Lame Freak has never cared about balance why would they start now?
>>

Doesn't he get Knock Off and Play Rough? That's already quite good.

I WILL admit he does need something to cover ground types, however.
>>
>>58558253
STAB/Knock Off/Play Rough/Nuzzle sounds pretty decent to me desu. Not every mon in the dex is gonna have flawless coverage, idk why everyone’s acting like this is some new abominable move by GF
>>

good one

>two opportunities to give raichu a mega, so they actually have room to experiment

what a fucking waste of effort
if they wanted to give raichu two megas they should have just given one to alolachu instead

This would be a good replacement for the Gorochu we’ll never get
One of the actual Mega Raichu (probably X as it’s the one that more closely looks like Raichu) should’ve been res

DLC tends to add moves and it wouldn't surprise me if they wind up giving Raichu a signature move that has a quirk to be either special or physical depending on which mega it is or just whichever attacking stat is higher.
I'm not worried either way, as I'm not a compfag and I'm just happy my boy is getting a mega at all, much less two of them.
>>58559329
Not gonna lie, I do wish one had gone to Alohan too.
>>
I always think of raichu using mega punch from the anime.
Maybe mega punch and mega kick will get rebalanced and brought nack into the games.
They always seemed like iconic moves despite being simple and outclassed by most average power moves.
>>
>>58559329
They didn’t want to give Raichu 2 Megas; they wanted to give one to Pikachu but since Raichu is the final form and Pikachu couldn’t get one, they did whatever they could to reference it — one by looks and one by color
>>
>>58549503
they gonna do the same shit to starmie aren't they?
>>
>>58559518
I genuinely wish for their marketing meddling to be obliterated
>>
>>58559246
I prefer it that way, I dislike how Gamefreak has released a lot of Pokemon lately which just get every fucking move they could ever dream of
For example, Baxcalibur gets
>special donutsteel 120BP 100% accuracy physical dragon stab
>Icicle Spear which will always at least hits twice, every set is running loaded dices anyways for that sweet 125BP 100% accuracy physical ice stab
So this motherfucker already gets to run crazy powerful and accurate moves as its stabs, but that's okay since it's gonna struggle against steel types at least right? Fuck no, it gets Earthquake lmao
So okay this thing hits absurdly hard and nothing can switch on it safely, but at least it can't set up right? Fuck no, it gets Dragon Dance lmao, and Swords Dance for good measure
Let's also give it priority with Ice Shard, Scale Shot to lean even harder into Loaded Dice and High Horsepower so even VGC isn't safe from his bald mug
>>
>>58559566
Don’t forget, you can’t burn it.
>>
>>58559518
I genuinely don't understand why they didn't just give one mega to Pika and one to Raichu, who gives a shit that no other NFE gets a mega? Pikachu gets special treatment all the time anyways
>>
>>58559566
> fuck no, it gets Earthquake lmao
To be fair, most of the game got Earthquake even back in Gen one, and baxcalibur being a kaiju means it’s one of the few Pokemon that deserves it.
But yes. Coverage Creep has been a growing issue since Gen 4 and has been getting exponentially worse. Problem is in order to fix it they would have to go back and remove moves from the shillmons thsg already benefited and Lame Freak won’t do that.
>>
are we seriously at the point where people are complaining about coverage? do you guys actually want some of the gen 1, 2, and 3 movesets back? come the fuck on
>>
>>58559566
>Please let's go back to the days where otherwise good Pokémon are eternally relegated to shitmon stats because they don't learn a stab move with over 40bp or they're a physical attacker and they only learn nasty plot and special moves.
How about no?
>>
GO MY GALVANIZE FAKE OUT
DO CHIP DAMAGE
>>
>>58559691
What a weird overreaction to what he said. Pokemon getting stronger moves is fine, because too many pokemon back in the day suffered having nothing for even their type to make use of.
Billions of coverage is another thing entirely.
>>
>>58559786
The Baxcaliber complaint being about coverage is odd, it’s more of a complaint towards move and item power creep rather than coverage.
>>
>>58559786
He was complaining about an ice dragon pseudo-legendary getting
>an ice stab
>dragon stab
>earthquake
He wasn't complaining about an item granting pseudo skill link, or that the dragon stab's accuracy is too high ofr its power. He was complaining that giving a Pokémon access to its stabs and earthquake was 'too much coverage'. It's completely fair to imput his argument based on that i s he yearns for the days of physical grass pokemon getting leafstorm and slash.
>>
>>58559566
>>58559568
And to top it all off, we’re giving it a mega evolution, so expect even more great things for Baxcalibur
>>
>>58559786
Unironically back in the day Pokemon were more likely to have weirdo coverage over STAB, look at half the fucking Gen 1 TM learnsets.
>>
>>58559571
Floette gets a Mega and Florges doesn't
>But Floette is Eternal or whatever
Fair enough, but they could get away with Pikachunite. No one would care
>>
>>58559853
Could get the Mega Garchomp treatment.
>>
>>58559566
Eh, this is a weak example. It’s a pseudo, and with a rare typing to boot. I’d rather see an interesting pseudo do well in competitive than a starter or a legendary any day
Meanwhile, doing this for Incineroar while letting 90% of all other starters flounder in obscurity is infuriating. IMO, starters should be campaign killers for the children to stay happy, and be utterly irrelevant in competitive so the adults can teambuild in peace.
>>
>>58560074
They pretty much did this until gen 6 (gren) now all starters needed to be competitively viable for some reason. I like how the RU tier is basically the starter tier.
>>
>>58560074
I’d rather my starters be useful in comp somewhere, honestly.
>>
>>58560160
I get the emotional attachment, but it’s just too much to continually balance, and to be brutally honest, boring for the health of the meta.
Think about it. By next year, you’re talking about THIRTY Pokémon that you want to be competitively viable, and every single one of them is either Fire, Water, or Grass type. You’d be looking at an OU with fuck all for variety if you got your wish. That’s pretty objectively boring.

I will concede, however, that my previous point of “pseudos being the preferable group to get special treatment” doesn’t hold much water when held to the standard I’m setting for starters, given the vast majority are Dragon-type. Ideally GF would make more Tyranitars and Metagrosses and give balance and variety to the meta in that fashion.

End of the day, I’m just dead sick of every gen boiling down to box legends and DLC powercreep legends feat. Incineroar. The first year of every new gen feels amazing, with so many new and exciting mons in play alongside overlooked and sometimes previously-thought shitmons getting a chance to shine, I wish there was a way to have that be the standard state of affairs rather than a once-per-generation thing.
>>
These megas look ai generated lmfao most of them do this generation
>>
>>58560512
I wish mega Feraligatr was ai generated
>>
>>58560205
>smogon
Thankfully, they have multiple metas with different things, so you’re not shit out of luck.
>vgc
These are entirely dependent on how restricted the dex is, and that comes and goes.
>>
>>58559606
They literally did that the last two gens. Where is your toxic and scald, bro?
>>
>>58560552
AI can't possibly create something as shit as Mega Gatr. A soulless machine would just make it bigger and add more spikes. Boring, but expected.
Real human ingenuity is required to come up with an idea as bad as Feraligatr mega evolving into a walking toilet.
