Is it just me or did important battles not feel that crazy good in the game?

Usually in Pokemon you can kill most mons in 2 hits. But the real time combat makes it even more obvious. Important battles feel way way way shorter. I beat Grisham in literally a min and a half. That's a bit too short.

Was I just overlevelled or what

No they are way too fast. You can can get beat by a Pokemon you are strong against within 10 seconds if it spams fast attacks. Retist barely seem to help.

The long delay before my pokemon can get a move off can be annoying. I can be spamming the left trigger and an attack button at the start of a battle, but it always seems to me like the CPU always strikes a few seconds before mine can do anything.

Nah I agree. Part of why I prefer turn based is the big battles feeling a lot more important and epic. I think there's lessons they can learn from this system though. It was fun for this game but I'd rather they stay away from real time stuff unless they can address important battles going by fast

Real time is interesting because it made the fodder battles feel a lot more fun, but the important battles feel less important imo. Arceus was a good middle ground where it had turn based, but not slow as molasses like the mainline turnbased is

Wish there was a choice at the beginning to go with action rpg or traditional style battles like the language options. I'm gonna wait until pokemon home is updated before I start playing the full game so I can transfer overpowered pokemon from shield Galar and Hisui.
