Quite surprised to see how disliked they are. But i dont think they are as hated as gen 8 starters. I liked gen 9 starters. Fag duck is my least favorite but its still alright. The croc is my favorite but i agree that its a mess and overdesigned. Still, this trio is better than the triple humanoid shit from last gen

Definitely worst starters of all gens

Skeledirge feels like a mishmash of too many things. Crocodile with a teeth-cleaning bird, conductor, singer, clown, Dia de Los Muertos, it’s just so busy that the design falls apart for me.
Meowscarada is the opposite, it’s like it’s incomplete. It’s a fursuit cat with a floating flower and… that’s it. Feels like it’s missing something.
Quaquaval manages to be a fully realized and cohesive design. It’s a gay Carnaval duck. It has some things I don’t like (the feet are a bit weird) but it still comes out as my favorite.

this. I almost chose the duck but once I saw the leaks here about how he evolved into a literal fag I skipped him. the alligator is an over designed eyesore and never had a chance to be in my team at all.

Skeledirge's color palette is mildly displeasing. Looks bald like Chesnaught due to that white placement. Crocodilian bodyplans don't work in Pokemon's style: too stout of torso, too rounded to be menacing, no ridged/spiked/bumped textures, and their limbs look weak.
Quax is honestly the greatest eyesore design in the entire series. It is physically painful to look at those toes. The anatomy is just fucked and imagining its skeleton gives me psychic damage. The revulsion is greater than Bruxish.
Meowscarada wins by doing nothing. And having vagina bones. It's not standout, and it's clear furry pandering, but its animations are good and endearing and that's all you really need to be the best.
