I honestly reject the notion that Ingo was able to go back to his time just by being like

'i have to go now, my people need me.'

Couldn't he have just had a son he named Emmet, and his descendant would eventually cross paths with him?

I always saw that line as more for the sake of "Jesus Christ, did you people really think the PLA protagonist is stuck in Ancient Hisui for the rest of their lives? No, retards, our God isn't cruel, it's 99% passive, almost entirely benevolent and occasionally mischievous." and they used Ingo as the stand-in for "people who were displaced across spacetime into Hisui are eventually made to go home" so they don't have to characterize the Hisui protagonist in any meaningful way.

Hisui protag retired happily with their significant other and produced a lineage that lead into Lucas or Dawn
