We praise Z-A for features that are basically a given in any other franchise. This time I'm not even talking about the laughable graphics, but the gameplay itself, which you guys always claim is super fun and the game's redeeming quality.Let's take the new battle system. Sure, it's good. But only when compared to previous Pokemon games. It's still just a dumbed down version of the battle system in Xenoblade.Pokemon Z-A is basically a mashup of watered down mechanics from other games, but because it has the Pokemon label on it, we somehow give it more praise than it deserves.
In the near future, fans will make the best Pokemon games.
>>58557618when
>>58557622When AI is on that level.Nintendo is ripping us off because they know what in 10 years or so, we will be making the new games.
>>58557614>It's still just a dumbed down version of the battle system in XenobladeEvery time someone posts this they just make it clear they've never played Xenoblade, ZA or either. Starting from the fact Xenoblade doesn't have real hitboxes and relies only on general positioning, to how you control your Pokémon indirectly by moving your trainer with commands that have to physically reach the Pokémon before it starts executing, to Xenoblade being reliant on auto-attacking with all skill cooldown (Xenoblade 2) or half of them (Xenoblade 3) being recharged from those rather than from time. You just saw the diamond move UI from 2/3 and believe Pokémon is copying the battle system as a whole.
>>58557628Are you saying Pokemon Z-A is revolutionary, cutting edge technology?
whatever I still have had the most fun ive had playing a pokemon game in the last 5 years
>>58557637No, just that it's nothing like Xenoblade beyond the most shallow surface appearance. If you need to compare it to existing games, it's closer to Ni no Kuni I or Spectrobes Origins (yes, I know nobody played that one).
>>58557628Well duh its all parroted youtuber opinions, they still believe the whole city is 1 model
>>58557614I really enjoyed the game but it's hilarious that you say the battle system is one of the few good things about the game. I felt the complete opposite. It's fine but the other parts of the game were the good parts for me
>>58557649What was good about the game? Apart from the fact that it has Pokemon yayyyy
What you're NOT allowed to say:>I liked Sword>I liked UsUmWhat you're expected to say:>I liked Z-A>I like ScarletThe worse the Pokemon game, the more /vp/ likes it.
ZA is the definition of a mid game. Has shortcomings and has some fun stuff. The story is ok. The cinematics are good. The fighting mechanic is ok. Battles are too fast. The music is good. The city is empty. The side missions are boring and repetitive with very VERY few standouts. Poor climax of its story. Undercooked Lida and Naveen. The stamped buildings are unacceptable. The city itself is boring. The game is MID a 6 or 5 on a scale of 10. Also voice acting in those weird clearly designed scenes that CLEARLY needed voice acting having none sure gets annoying. Now the problem is that there is huge pendulum swing from grifters calling it the worse thing ever. To retards on the other side calling it the best game ever.
>>58557614How the fuck is the combat anything like Xenoblade? When you make a hate thread at least do a little bit of research in what you're trying to bait with
>>58557684I only like ZA and the last Pokemon game I liked was the original SM.
>>58557680Exploring Lumiose is fun, so is seeing how everythings changed (even if the buildings are annoyingly flat), the new megas are cool since they actually made megas a good gimmick now (being on a timer fixed them), the story is good for a Pokemon game, the characters are good, the music is goodOverall I prefer Arceus if you forced me to choose but they are both easily the best 2 Pokemon games on Switch. Then leave a massive gap and then SV on Switch 2 is 3rd.
>>58557706Adding onto this it's not like the game doesn't have flaws though.>battles feel like they go by way too fast now, Arceus had a better battle speed that wasn't slow as shit but wasn't super quick like ZA>the battle system was fine for this game but could do with iteration>lack of more returning characters/expanding on Emma's story feels like a real missed opportunity>wish there were at least a few more buildings we could go in>don't like how they really simplified the catching system from Arceus
>>58557637Its something whos only similarity can be found in old mmo pet classes. Its a system that doesn’t exist anymore and its pretty refined. The closest thing to it is digimon world but even that is mostly different given by the fact that you do not control the digimon or the tamers movements at all, digimon world battle system is more like FFXIII’s except you have to give commands with timing
>>58557714Whenever I read a post like this I wonder if they even know about using pokemon moves to hide from other pokemon. It also makes me wonder how anyone can be so catastrophically stupid to think that PLAs battle system is/was better than any other game.PLA shills are basically palworld fags to me, subhumans with dogshit taste giving opinions about games they never played.
>>58557778Yes I know all about the battle system anon. I'm literally rank A in ranked and have 90 hours on my save file so far. It needs more depth, and to not feel so fast to the point where battles feel likr they blend together. PLA's system wasn't perfect just like ZA's. In PLA's case it was strong/fast styles changing turn order. That may or may not annoy you, but imo it really wasn't a big deal at all. Some may even argue it was a skill issue. But for what it was it was fine. And at it's core it was still the Pokemon turn based system, which is classic for a reason. Both systems need(ed) refinement but with the Legends series it seems Game Freak wants to try something new each time
>>58557614They have 3 years to develop a game yet they can’t program assets in properly
>>58557868i think the problema with ZA is that they made this new battle system but kept for each pokémon the stats meant for a completely different one. So a turn that would usually last 20 seconds now lasts around 5 because everything goes faster.
>>58557884The problem was never that they didn't have enough time. GF insists on operating on quadruple-digit profit margins and give their games, which sell for tens of millions, development budgets in the tens of thousands.
>>58557614>we
>>58557903they should still be making game boy games then
>>58557933They couldn't even handle making those without being tardwrangled by Masuda and sometimes Iwata.
>>58557685It's all business as usual for the franchise ever since Dexit, but at the end of the day millions will buy it anyway and nothing will change.
>>58557903>The problem was never that they didn't have enough time. GF insists on operating like a smart business that knows how to get maximum profit out of minimal investment.So... the goal of any business that wants to achieve revenue? Sounds like your problems are with the system itself, not a symptom of it.
>>58558510I personally don't think it is worth restructuring the global economic system to get slightly better pokemans games, if that is what you are implying. If people would just stop buying these shitty ass games for a little bit GF/TPC would be forced to put out higher quality titles, but unfortunately we live in a world full of retards who will call you an evil grifter if you criticize their smol indie dev company that controls the largest media franchise in history.
Come on man, it's fun. If you're worried about the price just pirate it, who cares.
>>58557685I'd say the story is shit if anything. Not the worst in the series (SwSh) but getting there, very directionlessOtherwise yeah it's just mediocre from top to bottom. Not even the kind of mediocre I come out going "yeah it's not great but it has this and this", just a bland 5/10
>>58557685as someone who actually did like ZA (you can say whatever you will about its technical failures and flaws, but personal preference will always be a factor in enjoyment, and no amount of bitching will magically change opposing opinions), yeah, some people are way too defensive and dismissive toward criticism, but all of the "ZA IS LITERALLY THE WORST GAME EVER" whining is just grifters successfully baiting their audience of underages into giving them more views, considering the past few games and especially SV have been even more flawed without a massive autism crusade attacking the people that did like the games
>>58559200They would just take inspiration from the latest "best selling" game if one of them "flops". But GF's financial situation is probably not ideal they likely have to split to profit in 3 so in practice even if it is the largest media franchise it's not like the profit fully gets back in the games regardless and if they were to accept financial assistance for funding the games they would likely have to split it further or compensate in some other way.
>>58557685True aside from the voice acting nonsense. We don't need that, we've never needed that, and I hope we never get it. Voice acting would be fucking awful.
>>58559345Personally I don't want voice acting exactly since I never listen to full voice lines anyway unless the delivery is REALLY good, but I do think they should have SOME kind of sound so they're not just dead silent. Banjo Kazooie gibberish, Sonic 06 "hey"s, whatever.
>>58559357Small indie company please understand.
>>58559345>>58559357Pokemon games need to either have voice acting or not have 5-hour tutorials with story/cutscene interruptions every 5 seconds.
I... i... (gun to my head) i liked it. I liked ZA.
which emulator and rom is best to play z-a? my friend is literally having a crash out cuz it keeps either bugging out or crashing for him
>>58557614The most wild thing I've seen is a pokemon fan praise the game because a character reappeared in a quest. Like holy fuck. This was common place in games 20 years ago. Along with NPCs having their own schedules, changing dialogue for your game progress, and more. I genuinely hate Lumiose now because they did absolutely nothing with the setting and it's disappointing.
>>58559728ryubing. Vulkan has some visual bugs though, but you can more or less fix them with either reshade or by running it with openGL (and worse performance). I've been playing fine with occasional crashes.there's also eden but it's worse than ryubing in my experience. citron just got an update, no idea if it runs well there
>>58559728also, i think you have to play without the update or it won't run
>>58559686I like McDonald's. I can acknowledge that I like something while also knowing that it's garbage.
