It's not really that weird. I'm ok with foreign cards as long as it's specifically something I need two of. For example, Gladion is basically a mandatory 2 of, and I pulled the English one and WPd the Japanese one. I'm not going to bother trading for the English one I have on my alt because I have an English one for display purposes. If I only ever had the one Japanese copy, I would absolutely only go for an English second copy just because I have Lusamine and Lillie in English, and I'd want them to match. If I happened to WP Lusamine and Lillie in Japanese? I'd just use the JPN Gladion.

Oak has fucked up the market and put a big mushroom stamp on everyone's brains when it comes to Cyrus, Mars, Professor's Research, and sometimes skirt Lillie, Lusia and Copycat for those who have them. Basically everyone is trying to get Professor's Research either to play or more likely, act as fucking currency for trades, so a player would hold their Mars until they get Oak, so they can afford to trade for the Cyrus they want, instead of just going directly to the fucking Cyrus holder. The audacity to create FA Professor's Research and put it in the most useless, least creative set, then make it limited edition, knowing that it was the single most played card in the game and that it would nuke the economy, is incredible.
