My family is (sort of) complete, except for Glaceon and Leafeon because GF was (and still is) too stupid to implement evolutionary terrains in HGSS, in notorious places like Ilex/Viridian Forest (Moss Rock) and Ice Path (Ice Rock)Everyone knows Facade and/or Sand Attack thoughAbove: Mom and Dad (before evolving respectively into Espeon and Umbreon)Below: 4 children, and Eevee is the youngest

It seems like I've been banned from deleting posts. Why the fuck is that even a thing?
I just realized my previous post probably sounds like I'm complaining about ban evasion, but no it's literally just that I can't delete my posts anymore after 12+ hours of waiting to be able to delete and repost. I REALLY want to be able to revise my posts...
>captcha: J4AVAI skipped what I was going to post to post Java Eevee instead.

And here's what I originally wanted to post!>>58594218>How often do you need to revise your postsI don't proof read nearly enough, and often times I have to redo a longer post 4 different times to finally be happy with what I've got. It's admittedly a very stupid practice and it'd do me well to just proof read instead of revising post-hoc.>I have no idea what any of that meansIt's people being ass-mad over Java being a language that's so strict that any retard with two brain cells to rub together can pick up and do something worthwhile with. Basically, XHTML all over again.

>>58598615Wait, they have white irises? Never noticed that, that actually looks somewhat creepy, reminds me of a skull for some reason (Probably the lack of detail, it's just a flat featureless white oval floating in the blue sclera). I always thought that white in the art was a reflection and their eyes were just a solid blue without visible irises.
>>58598723I mean, they could still be shining light, just baked into the texture.
>>58598558Ohh, I get it now! I think...Doesn't sound like a bad reason to be mad to me. Then again, zero programming knowledge.
>>58598723did you mean pupils? lots of pokemon have white pupils even though it doesn’t make physical sense. it’s just a design choice for stylized eyes
>>58599453It's not a real reason to be upset over it. It's just that people get annoyed by having to write more to do the same task, and people definitely don't like being told NOT to do something. For example, to print some text to the screen, in most languages, you have something that looks like>print("Hello world!");For Java, that would be>console.out.print("Hello world!");They achieve the same effect, but Java's paradigm is to reference a chain of command. The operating system -> the standard text output -> print to. It's to make sure that the code documents itself.
>>58601910Isn't Java full of security holes? I have it installed to play Blu-Ray disks in my PC and every time there is an update, which is often, it actively recommends I UNINSTALL it if I haven't used it in a while instead of update.
>>58602187>Isn't Java full of security holesIntuitively, that makes sense. Java has a shit ton of built-in libraries that frankly shouldn't be built-in.However, I've never actually heard of Java having a security vulnerability, outside of CVE 2022-22965. Java seems pretty well built, all things considered. (The Log4j exploit that caused a massive panic because it affected Minecraft was from an external library and therefore can't really be blamed on the language.)>I have it installed to play Blu-Ray disks in my PCWas VLC not good enough?>it actively recommends I UNINSTALL itUninstall what? Java, or the program? Big distinction there.I've never seen Java say you should uninstall it when it updates, and I don't know which program you're using so I can't comment on it.
>>58601910I thought it was a "good" reason because it just sounded like "more work for the same result" to me. But I clearly have no idea how this works, so...
>>58602385Eh, don't worry about it.Just program in GameMaker language, it's way easier and more fun than dealing with bitchfits from snobbish faggots who don't program :P
>>58602243>Was VLC not good enough?VLC can let you play the basic video files, but IIRC you need it to use the menus and other features even with VLC.>Uninstall what? Java, or the program?Java, and I am talking about Java's own updater, not some third party program. If you haven't used it in a while the updater actually recommends uninstalling Java instead of updating it.
>>58602495>If you haven't used it in a while the updater actually recommends uninstalling Java instead of updating it.Could be that it just has limited continuity testing on updates so when it detects a version outside the properly-maintained "buffer" it asks for a full re-install to avoid glitches arising from leftover/missing code.
>>58602495>the menusNo, you should be able to access it. You just need to tell VLC to open the DVD itself rather than any specific file.>JavaI use Eclipse Adoptium portable for most of my Java so I haven't seen it, but I do have Java 8 installed and it doesn't update.I went looking online but found no real images that recommend you uninstall it if you don't use it. Do you have an image of it? If not, is https://techhelpkb.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/update-Java-8-271-uninstall-ood.jpg what you mean?>>58602863Nah, that's not how Java updater works. It just downloads the whole ass thing for every update, and just associates what's important to that version instead of the old version.

>>58603464>Blu-rayUseless semantics. You open it with the "open DVD" button regardless of format. It could be a cassette tape for all VLC cares.>JavaGive me a screenshot next thread if it shows up, please.
>>58603682I'll try, I haven't been updating it often. and IIRC playing Blu-Rays on a PC is a bit more involved than DVDs, especially 4K ones.
>>58603862I don't have any blu-rays to test with so I can't really tell you if that's actually the case. That's just what I've found with looking it up.Google's AI pulled this random factoid I haven't been able to find anywhere else in my searching>For commercial discs, the lack of decryption keys is why VLC struggles with menus by defaultGood luck! Doesn't really matter if VLC works or not, because your current system works.
Any good eevee fangames and romhacks?Did that 1 made in RPG Maker where you can do 4v4 battles and have an eevee that changes into all forms at once ever get a sequel or an expansion?
>>58593415That's not a ban from deleting posts. You can't delete posts after a certain amount of time. I just don't know how long the grace period is.
>>58604132Blu-Rays are a lot more complicated, especially since there are all sorts of traps embedded in the firmware of PC Blu-Ray drives to try to screw you over, literally just playing too new a disk can make the drive "revoke" your ability to play 4K disks in it anymore automatically (Happened to me when I was testing the then just-released 4K Blu-Ray movie on a PC, drive firmware revoked all 4K playback, even of disks that worked before). After how easy it became to decrypt DVDs thr movie studios demanded all sorts of additional protections for Blu-Ray, including embedding several types of blocks and anti-ripping/decrypting tech in the drive's firmware itself, which is also now encrypted, and only letting you flash signed firmware to it. The easiest way is to use a program called MakeMKV which contains decryption hacks like LibreDrive IF you have a compatible drive and firmware version (or hacked firmware if your drive/firmware version has that option open to you). MakeMKV also has VLC integration so you can just play the disks in that instead of converting them to MKV, but IIRC you need Java to actually view the menus and not just play the video files directly. There has been a several-hundreds-long thread on the makemkv forums for years now exactly about what drives you need, firmware you need, how to hack the drives, new developments on getting more drives/firmware versions working, etc. You can't just toss the disk in your drive and open VLC like you can with a DVD, especially for UHD disks that are a minefield.
>>58604302>You can't delete posts after a certain timePost deletion gets disabled after 30 minutes. It's enabled after 1 minute if you're "high-trust" or 10 if you're "low."This, however, is different. I was unable to delete posts for 12 whole hours, even when the posts were fresh enough for the 30 minute window. This was caused by deleting too many posts.>>58604351>Blu-Rays are a lot more complicatedI knew that much, but also VLC support has improved over the years. The DMCA is fucking retarded man. Death to the UN just for that shit alone.
>>58604402>I knew that much, but also VLC support has improved over the yearsVLC is likely never going to have native Blu-Ray support on it's own because they would get sued into oblivion, and even if not I doubt the devs want to go through the hassle of maintaining a decryption hack library and method themselves, especially across dozens of different models and firmware revisions of drives.
I just realized I forgot to say "good thread." Outside of this very off-topic >>>/g/ level conversation, it's been a very good thread.>>58604723>VLC is likely never going to have native Blu-Ray support on it's ownI mean, it's just reading files. Provided there's a standardized driver protocol for that(which there probably is considering most software can interact with Blu-ray players without hassle,) it doesn't really need to handle the firmware, and shouldn't need to handle the decryption keys.Regardless, this is why the DMCA is fucking retarded. Digital locks are a retarded concept, and the World Intellectual Property Organization needs to be burnt to the ground. Now, can we stop bumping? I don't mind replying, but seriously, there's no need to keep the thread alive.
>>58604954>I mean, it's just reading filesJust saying that's my point, it's not, on top of encryption all PC Blu-Ray drives have several protections in the firmware to prevent you from doing exactly that, and even slow the drive down when reading them officially to make ripping harder. Really, look up LibreDrive and MakeMKV to see what I mean, it's a lot more complicated than you think, and not just from a just reading files basis.
>>58606167Hey, what did I just say about bumping?>it's notSo basically, Blu-Ray is a useless storage medium, because you can't use it for storing things.Got it.Don't bother with VLC then, your system works already anyways.
>>58606225>Hey, what did I just say about bumping? That's why I saged my reply>So basically, Blu-Ray is a useless storage medium, because you can't use it for storing things.MOVIES, not Blu-Ray disks in general, they are fine for data, the movie studios just went apeshit demanding even the very firmware go nuts trying to restrict you from accessing them if it detects the disk is a movie. Seriously, just look up the INSANE requirements to officially play 4K Blu-Rays on a PC. You needed your CPU to support a specific instruction set just for them (which only Intel supported), the motherboard, the GPU (which again, only on-board Intel video supported, so it would not work over Nvidia or AMD), the monitor, and even the software, which was not free, everything in the chain they lost their shit so much in controlling it that pretty much nobody bothered. Intel even removed those instructions from 11th gen and later.
