I don't know, tauros is still gonna outdamages whimmy on 1 energy retreaters, has the same hp, doesn't require a particular energy, doesn't need to evolve and ilima is still a funny meme for playing keep away. Hell ilima and tauros's self damage technically synergize even if you still don't want to see it.
Not specifically saying tauros is good but it has less hoops to jump through. Whimsicott is only better against 2 energy retreats by 10 damage and 3+ energy retreats just aren't super common to really consider. Wow he outdamages tauros better against mega gyarados and melmetal EX.

It'd be cool if they did an event where you have to build a deck from a pool of specific cards and then use it to battle CPU or even against other players. Have the pool be rotated monthly, and if the player is missing specific cards to complete their desired deck let them 'borrow' the cards they need for it using separate set of event hourglasses. Then have the event give out a healthy amount of shine dust as rewards, and maybe even a special emblem or profile picture.

there's two ways you can go about alts: reroll spam and then wait two weeks to trade like you mentioned (this is definitely best for cards like cyrus), or just have a bunch and pull two packs a day on each. the latter probably requires more time investment per card, but you don't have to wait two weeks every time you get something you want, and you can trade for cards outside the sets you're pulling too.
i got pretty much every card i wanted just by pulling mega rising on 10 alts and then either trading directly to my main or trading for something i pulled for a card from A series and then trading that to my main.

sadly gallade fell off pretty hard due to low energy cost being the new meta. nearly every card you'll run into either attacks for 2 energy or discards energy when attacking, which makes gallade not very appealing.
